It would be very stupid of the government to A: have faked images and objects that the entire day was based on when they were attacking the buildings anyway and B: hire people that would not perfect their work before trying to carry out the worlds largest inside job/mass murder on televisions around the world. thanks pluto...Heres one of the issues...In the chopper 7 seven footage you can clearly see the bridge cabels....these are 36in in diameter...the bridge was six plus miles from the towers...the camera (the chopper) was five miles back from the towers....so we are looking at a 3ft wide cabel from over 11 miles away...i have been unable to find any footage, execpt for this showing that kind of definition at that range....if any else has...please post

Alfred Hitchcock was probably the forerunner of the technique that best explains what is going on here, Spielberg Used it in Jaws as well.

You move the camera closer to the subject whilst zooming out, and vise versa. Watch Jaws, and the moment Roy Scheider notices the little kid on his yellow raft being eaten, look at what happens to the background on Scheider's close up.

I am suggesting that footage A was shot from a helicopter 250 meters from the buildings, zooming in with x8 zoom. And that footage B was shot from a helicopter 1,000 meters from the buildings zooming in with x32 zoom.

Of course these are not the actual figures, merely an example.

In essence, yes, replicating the before and after of a dolly zoom.

thanks ark....it is my understanding that this effect only works if the central image...ie the towers remain a fix size in the frame ..in the example above....we start with close towers and moving increasing more distant...if this is incorrect, Im sure someone will let me know

If you zoom out at the same ration as you dolly in, yes the central focus would remaun the same size. If you zoom out more than you dolly in EVERYTHING in frame would be at a different perspective ration from what it was before. If SPielberg had continued zooming in on Roy Scheider, his head would have appeared larger.

thanks ark....we are going have to agree to disagree on this one....as long as you keep using Jaws ...which, at the time, used cutting edge special effects to justify how this is possible in a real world live tv broadcast there is nothing more i can say!!....prehaps you or anyone can post a vid showing this happening on ANY helicopter footage fropm ANY source....I am yet to find any....or ANY other footage taken of new york showing the bridge in this way.

Right, but if you are going to think that a "dolly zoom" is a "cutting edge special effect" than I am not surprised you are going to have difficulty understanding why things like this happen. Hitchcock was using them way back before colour film was invented. It's just a simple law of physics and lenses.

thks ark..Jaws did use cutting edge effects...it was an effects film....true the dolly zoom has been used for many years...but it is an effect and requires movement away or towards while zooming at a fixed rate and the object must remain in fixed position and scale....Now we can argue over this till the end of time....prehaps you could post a video showing this effect on any chopper footage ...

The jolly 'debunkers' have proposed that the bridge's size on the ABC shot ( in green-scale! ) is due to zoom-lens distortion. They argue that the ABC chopper was over 5 miles away from the WTC, so the distance from camera-to-subject (and high zoom-level) would explain this...

All I can say is : let's hire a NY sight-seeing chopper and try to reproduce that ABC shot on film today (minus the WTC towers).
