Je n'ai en revanche aucune origine Rom et n'ai rien contre cette minorité. Sarkozy n'a pas été choisi par tous les Français. Lors des élections, nous nous sommes retrouvés face à l'horreur : La peste ou le choléra ? I think unfortunately that Gypsies receive the same bad treatment across Europe in proportion with the country economic status. A gypsy living in Romania lives worse than a French gypsy lives just as worse than an Romanian lives compare with an French. I think unfortunately that Gypsies receive the same bad treatment across Europe in proportion with the country economic status. A gypsy living in Romania lives worse than a French gypsy lives just as worse than an Romanian lives compare with an French. You do not cure ignorance by changing the name for the fruit "pear", it is up to people to find out what the hell they are talking about! Foreign invaders thought the peoples of the Americas were "Indians" too for a long time, just as outsiders mistook Roma -who paradoxically descended from Indians- for Egyptians -whence the word "Gypsy", but a mistake, even an old one, is still a mistake.

1)Folcloric Gypsy texts written BY Roma are few as they tended to be illiterate, whereas 2) Non-Roma wrote ABOUT them using THEIR (non-Romani) appelation for them. Use of the Greek word "Atsinganoi" being the result. The Romani (or Romanes) language is centuries old and uses that word "Rom", "Roma", "Romni", "Romeske", etc.It is indigenous to Roma, not extraneous. It "creates" a SELF-constructed identity.

The answer to the rest is:Homonyms exist, get over it! :) "Roma" is "Roma" in Romanes. That is a linguistic fact of life.

@gogoasacenusie I completely agree but in completion I'd like to say that gypsies are not a romanian "problem", they are an european issue.And not by now, but by medieval times. If the gypsies can't be integrated in the social environment from France, a more evolved country than Romania, how the hack are they going to be integrated in Romania..?Maybe E.U has a great economic power, but when it comes about liberty inside its borders this fact becomes a romantic utopia.
