The small block in my truck has 380000 miles on it and still running strong. Build them for performance and 500rwhp naturally aspirated comes easy, throw in a 350hp shot of nitrous for good measure. LMAO the bmw I6 would need 35+lbs of boost and tens of thousands of dollars to come close.

I dont think its a bad idea.Aluminium SB doesnt weigh any much more that the bmw's original engine and the car will keep its cornering abilities very well.Plus with this new engine,it will put some serious horsepower and more important,significant torque on the pavement.

So not only is my e30 running 11.7 in the quarter with a mild chevy 350 and a tremec tko 500. but i decided to remove the rear tags, replace them with an m3 tag and hand paint racing stripes the length of the car with house paint and a paint brush. freehand. oh and why is the interior identical to that of my 86 supra? think they stole some stuff from the japanese.

this takes real talent to do. most BMW drivers buy all of their parts off the shelf or out of catalogs. even your m5/m3 upgrades are practically bolt ons. God forbid one of you pick up a welder, torch, or timing light even. BMW drive trains are big clunky and leak like hell. i put a 450 HP SBC in my E30 with a Tremec TKO 500 and it is actually lighter than the six cylinder piece of junk that came out of it.

I applaud you for having the knowledge and ability to pull that off. i think he said he put an m3 badge on it that means it wasn't an original m3, looks like my 325. at least we know your trans wont brake (weather getrag or zf both weak trans) not to say the American one is any better. but i definitely appreciate your creativity. whats you 1/4 times and how did u mount the engine? would love to see some pics on that. send me a pm if possible. I'm also in the forums

@pnitro4 yeah, definitely. much worse. this has a lot of power, really sharp handling, and looks good.
a hood like that actually serves a purpose when you're making more than 300 horsepower

hey bimmer buds you'll love this. So not only is my e30 running 11.7 in the quarter with a mild chevy 350 and a tremec tko 500. but i decided to remove the rear tags, replace them with an m3 tag and hand paint racing stripes the length of the car with house paint and a paint brush. freehand. oh and why is the interior identical to that of my 86 supra? think they stole some stuff from the japanese.

i don't think anyone who hasn't done a ground up resto or custom vehicle should comment on this. You have no clue what it takes to do real auto work. You pick your stuff out of magazines. There are quite a few BMW guys that have done great jobs with their cars but even your best cant compete on the strip with a chevelle running 50 year old technology nor can you beat a 427 shelby on the track. God Bless America. All i can say about your "german engineering" is VOLKSWAGEN tisk tisk.

@estebanzz802 Hell no. I am happy that there is still someone out there making effort and putting hard work into cars... I just don't like such big and powerful engine in a BMW, and besides that, the hood looks somehow ridiculous. Just my opinion, though.

all u guys that make dumbass negative comments keep them to urself, i own a bmw and i love the bmw straight sixes but i also know how hard it is to make power with them. if i could put a sbc LS in my 528i id do it in a heart beat. if i had 2k on engine upgrades i could make over 400 hp N/A with the sbc. id need a supercharger or turbo to do it with my beem and it would probably cost more to do it correctly and reliably. id try a vette intake manifold to keep the hight down or tig up a custom one

this takes real talent to do. most BMW drivers buy all of their parts off the shelf or out of catalogs. even your m5/m3 upgrades are practically bolt ons. God forbid one of you pick up a welder, torch, or timing light even. BMW drive trains are big clunky and leak like hell. i put a 450 HP SBC in my E30 with a Tremec TKO 500 and it is actually lighter than the six cylinder piece of junk that came out of it.

I think its a good idea.The original 6 cylinder is good but it has no match against the power of a small block v8.Plus if its aluminium heads,then it will not add weight and the car will keep its good cornering,but will gain some serious acceleration and speed performance.

Moving from an E34 530i to a E46 M3 soon, and while I wouldn't personally drop a small block V8 in a Bimmer... I have to say it's at least unique. Lose the hood though. Makes it look like some 90' Mustang.
