This movie was supposed to be a more realistic representation of the poem. Notice the lack of the gods? That's why this Achilles is better than Hector. In reality, as in this movie, Achilles is NOT invincible, and thus is better than Hector (skill-wise)

Achilles is a lot better then Hector. Even before he injured his leg (which he got pushed by Achilles). Hector was having a rough time as it was, Achilles wasn't tired or fatigue and Hector was breathing super heavy. The reason he tripped over the rock was because he was tired from fighting before and Achilles was the one who pushed him as well, so it doesn't matter.

Achillies is better, even though i was cheering for Troy the entire movie. Achilles is better only because his Mother is a Godess (Which was the Woman making the seashell necklace for him in the movie) she dipped him in an immortal river however, she had to hold his ankle so he wouldn't fall in. Achillies can only die (Which is stupid because this 'hitpoint' isn't even fatal) if he is slashed or shot in the heel. Therefore he is better imortal wise. But hector put up a good fight for a mortal.

If they fit the definition of that word, then we use that word to describe them. of course.. the Iliad never actually describes them as lovers does it? I think people just assumed that they were based on greek custom. I could be wrong.

Yeah but in the actual story, from which this movie is adopted they were close friends. They may have even had sex with each other, something that was not uncommon among Greeks. It doesn't mean either is gay, they were close friends.

Well maybe you can do some research too. Is it not disputed that Alexander the Great's best friend Hephaestion may have also been his lover? And that the Spartans were known to have engaged in homosexuality while they were in their barracks? Not to mention that the Athenians are at many times called boy lovers?

So like I said they were not GAY, but homosexuality was a common practice during that time because their culture didn't look down on it (like so many do now...)
