I watched this film....and after was told there is no such thing as peace until christ comes...but it doesnt have to be that way. I cant make the world perfect. But i know we can get a bunch of people and stand up together and truely show what we belive. Peace can exsist and in some places it does, and if its in those places we need to stand hand in hand and show it through the love and glory of God! We need to spread the word of God my brotehrs and sisters of christ! The time is now!

i remember seeing this movie in Berkeley ca when i was 12 years old at the theater with my pops he is from El Salvador . this movie made me mad and sad at the same time . it pissed me off when i seen what the fucking US backed salvadoran goverment was doing to it's people . i really think this movie is what made me the radical thinker i am today . my father told me that the guardia nacional eran hijueputas assesinos lol . this movie really woke me up at 12 years old .

Broadly speaking, civil war broke out in El Salvador. The poor rose up to oppose the rich, and the rich retaliated in spades. A certain number of progressive priests sided with the poor, to the dismay of the Church hierarchy, who wished to remain above the struggle. Fr. Oscar Romero was appointed to serve as archbishop of San Salvador precisely because he looked like an apolitical bookworm. Eventually, his conscience forced him to take a stand.

Have you heard the song that was written for this pastor Romero called, "EL PADRE ANTONIO Y EL MONAGUILLO ANDRES" by RUBEN BLADES. In the song Ruben Blades mentions the real Pastor/Priest Romero by name. Great song! Damn the U.S. and their support of death squads and right wingers who oppress the masses!

Romero did not agree with the gov he thought the election was rigged and was treating the non-whites in el salvador terrible. Oscar Romero is a white latin( Same as the actor that played him) and since he is white in the Spanish cast system he and others like him are the only ones that can make any change so he fought the gov that was in control. In Spanish colonies and even today whites and cezitos 75%+ white rule when the rest do not. He fought for the poor

In 2007 I had the honourable chance to visist El Salvador and visit many places including where Romero was on that tragic day for him and his people. The reality is very haunting for me and will never forget it. I even saw the clothes and the stains he was wearing. Please people everywhere try your best to get help if you ever feel the need to take matters into your own hands. We as people are not born with permits from God to give others expiration dates.
