They would of been so awesome now.. But they did great as Subrosa, check out there album " Never Bet The Devil Your Head. " I love every song on there, i heard that the singer was hard to get along with so they got shelved......Sucks i loved this band , seen them three times as the opening act where they blew away the headliners, including Creed. and i like Creed alot!
What happened to this band was a true tragedy but at least we have For Example to listen to all the time; this was their album that was released just after the bus accident that killed two of the band members and their manager.
I use to listen to this song on Q101 in the early 90's. I miss hearing it live. There is no good radio stations in Phoenix. But I do have the song on my Ipod and listen to it often.
What a great song. This one really takes me back to the college days. I know they would be right up there with Foo Fighters and Nickleback (sp). This video is a great remembrance of the good 'ol days!
Who actually made this video? Hats off to whomever sifted through all that footage and poignant photos to come up with that video. Travis serving as the projection screen with dead friends and band mates on his back...wax about the apt metaphor of his existence since the wreck!
They were killed only 30 miles from where I live. I mean the lead singer and bass player and manager. Tragedy indeed and I knew one of them from college and they would be a huge band now. Rest in Peace guys!
The lead vocalist, Jack Vigiliatura and the bassist, Bill White, along with their tour manager, Tim Bender, were killed in a bus accident shortly before the album this song was on ("Example") was released. The guitarist, Travis Tooke, and drummer, Jack Griego, surivived and kept the band going. In 1997, the group changed their name to "Subrosa" and Greigo left in 1999. The band reunited in 2001.
Sorry if I told you TOO much. I could've told you to look it up, but I was nice enough to explain.
Felt the same way when I heard it for the 1st time. I was only about 15 too. OOOooooo, Spooky..... It definetely has that pick me up Chorus. Loved these guys since my brother introduced me to them but sad to say the 1st time I heard them was like hearing Sublime for the 1st time. You are told some of the band members are dead before you even hear them. That always sucks. I love these guys and always look for live stuff to satisfy me, nowadays.
such a sad story and song.far as i know they only came out with one offical cd,i had it downloaded years ago.who knows if you can find the whole thing online now
fell in love with this song but could never find out who it was by. then our band auditioned a new singer and he told me, so now we are gonna cover this song!! Very tragic, what happened, those guys memory will live on thru our music if no one elses. RIP guys, we miss u !!!!
I don't know how much more is available. Some of them were killed in a car accident not long after signing with a big name record label from what I hear.
Great song and excellent album! I wish they had been able to produce more music and it was so sad when I heard about the accident. I feel so bad for the families and friends of the lost members of the band. RIP
They actually have an album before this called Bypath Road. Its soooooo good, I have it. These guys could of been as big as matchbox 20. Travis rocks!
C'mon folks I'ts not that difficult. Yes Courtney with her name scrawled on her back, Kurt with his hair burnt to the back from the shotgun blast, Empty funeral room cause viewing the body was limited duh?
Love this song! I never thought to look for it here. I heard the acoustic version on KROQ shortly after the accident, the other band members wee still recovering and came on to perform anyways so the fans could heal too. So good acoustic and heartbreaking.
not totally sure how but in the secong lyric talking about "he lies in an empty room with his hair burned to the back" is refering to kurt an i guess the song is talking about the so called death of grunge.. but just my observation but someone should really do a cover of "mighty kc" or "undersmithville" would love to see how its played
hey man thanks for clearing that up, now i think it is about how he was depressed and then eventually commited suicide, i also think that courtney is in there too cause at the beginning, it says "she lies in a bedpan with her name scrawled on her back" good song non the less, i hope to play this on drums some day, one i learn more lol, been playin for a month and a half, i don't believe grunge is dead because there are people who will always cover kurt's songs.
anyone know how it was about kurt cobain, i can not figure it out, if anyone can post a comment in my inbox and let me know that would be great thanks.

One of my FAVORITE bands ever. If anyone is as big of a fan I have a link to where you can get early albums and recordings from when they were called THe Fully Gnarlies. Let me know
I had the pleasure of seeing For Squirrels perform on South Beach in 1995. It was one of the most magical rock shows I've ever seen. The band had a rare magnetic force, a powerful aura. Jack V was in a trance state, channeling something otherworldly. It must have been like seeing Jim Morrison live in the 60s. You can glimpse Jack V on stage in this video. Great tune, but "8:02 PM" captures their magic best. If anyone has LIVE footage of FS, please post.
At a young age in the 90s I heard this song. Unaware of the realities of mortality at such a young age, this song came on and struck dischords on the bridge between life and death. I listened to the lyrics closely and realized the proximity between, death, life and hell.
I saw these guys perform in Miami once in like '92 or '93. One day a few months later I was at this little record store in Coral Gables and there were some dudes standing by a For Squirrels poster. I commented on how I thought they were an ok band but the lead singer was a spaz and they just laughed and laughed so hard..it was then that I realized I was talking to the band! They were very cool about it and expressed how they liked hearing "real" feedback. I will never forget that!
I have no FREAKING clue what any of you people are talking about. Probably b/c I just looked up this song cause it was on the top 100 of 1996 songs I was looking at and cause it said squirrels. lol, good song though. Idk what you ppl are talking about, but chill out, I can just picture you all freaking out in front of your computers.
I remember the first time I heard this song! I spent years trying o find them again and what they were up too. Then I found them again and heard about the accident. If anything I hope the joy they brought to my life means somthing to the rest of the band family. By the grace of god go on.....
Me too. I bought their CD when it first came out and loved it. I would always look for a new one by them when I went to Best Buy or wherever. I could never figure out what happened either and assumed they must have broken up. Then a few years ago I searched for them online and found out the awful truth of their demise. What a shame! They were really special, I think, and I totally agree with davass9.

i saw this band perform at a festival here in pensacola fl right before the accident, I loved their show. This song takes me back to middle school and the carefree days of rocking out to Nirvana. I miss it.
This was the first time that I have seen this video in about 12 years. It's weird how something can have the same effect on you after all that time. It's such a shame that these boys were taken so soon. I'm sure they would have been something great.
It's ironic how they keep mentioning how things are going to change in their favor and then the worst thing possible happened. A song I truly miss about a man who left this world too early by guys who very unfortunately followed him through no fault of their own.
I love this song and remember when they had that bad accident here in Georgia in 1995. They were in a van coming back from New York and heading back home when they wrecked. The lead singer, bass player, and manager were killed in the wreck and then this cd came out right at that time. It's such a shame cause they were gonna be big too I think.
wow this video brings back memories from middle school... I really did like this band back then, but then they disappeared and I didn't know why. Took me a couple of years to find out about the car accident~ sad thing, as that I thought they had a lotta potentional
True tragedy, very haunting. Their untimely passing was like an omen to good music everywhere during that time. It was nice to see that video again. Thank You.
I was not familiar with this band before this video. The song haunted me then, and haunts me still. Musicians that deserved to be worshipped by the huddled masses, but didn't get the chance. By the Grace of God they went....
I haven't heard this song in years and first time ever seeing the video. If i recall, at the time this song was a tribute to Kurt Cobain. I did hear about an accident involving the band members but never knew anyone was killed. Its really a good song, and a fitting tribute to Kurt and the band members who died
