This is without doubt the best theme song and opening titles of all the Bond movies. No argument! So he strikes, like Thunder BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL..........Only Tom Jones could do that :)
@rockermanmatt I have to disagree, Casino Royale had one of the better stories in the series. Maybe a little more complex than the Connery films, but great nonetheless. Quantum of Solace and all of Brosnan's (except maybe GoldenEye) , however, were all about the action,
@rockermanmatt Thanks for this information. In 1965, I saw Thunderball whie serving in the Marines on a ship in the South China Seas. I have seen all of the James Bond movies. Sean Connery is the "real" James Bond.
I agree the magic is gone. They don't even do real stunts anymore. Remember the ski jump from TSWLM? You don't see stunts like that anymore in movies. It's all computerized.
you forgot Carley Simon she had one of the best themes if not the best. I know what you mean about awful themes, The worst was the QOS theme. It was terrible and almost as bad as the movie. It wasn't a terrible movie it just wasn't Bond. It was all action no spy. They made Bond into a serial killer.
An absolute masterpiece of editing, as soon as the girl clears the frame, the spear gun ejaculates after her. As good as the slamming door in "Goldfinger".
This is nice and everything but has no one heard or seen the opening credits to You Only Live Twice? That song sets the mood and almost tells the plot for the movie in less than 3 minutes.
Back in 64 For a long time Goldfinger remained on the top of music charts for a long time voted the best bond theme of all the others! THunderball was my favorite of them all!!!
By the way, I remember seeing this on a warm summer day when it came out. I was about 10 and this film absolutely blew me away, starting with this theme (a toss up between this and Goldfinger, but because of the sense of dread and drama [and TJ's vocals], I vote for Thunderball).
@mattleemattlee123 you can't imagine how much i envy you for having seen all the awesome bonds in the theater. there was no age limit back then? i looked forward to finally being allowed to watch a bond movie so much. then, when i was finally 16, it took another few years till there was one in theaters again. and then it was craig! oh god, i can't even express all my hate. i refuse to ever watch any post brosnan movie. i am so sad that i never got the chance to watch a bond movie in the theater.
the first Bond movie I remember was "For your eyes only" I remember watching it on TV. I never seen one in a theater. I agree with you I don't like the post Bronson movies much either but Casino Royal was pretty good. Quantum of Solace was the worst movie of them all. My favorite Bond was Roger Moore. He was the Bond of my era.
It's like this was shot yesterday. Bond title sequences were way ahead of their time. Don't you think? I like to think of them as early music video's.
At the time this movie was made I was one of the millions of eggs in my mammas ovaries lol... Ten years later after nine months of cooking in the oven I came out.
Hey...stop bitching at this guy because of the glitch. I'm just glad the real title sequence/theme is up on YT again. Thanks for uploading this, Avenged!
@ColonelDredd what ever i dont really care if people take me seriously, im a high school student, I upload these cause im a James Bond fan, you have such a fucking problem watch someone another persons video, simple as that.
I think it is ironic that the glitch people are complaining about happens just as the title comes up for Maurice Binder, the designer who created the titles sequence and the reason I was watching this. I enjoy the theme song despite the silly lyric and the bombast--Jones does his best to sell it and has Barry's great melody to work with--but it is the title design that really makes this worth watching. Binder was a visual genius.
Of all the Bond main titles, this is by far the best. (Of all the Bond films, arguably the best ever, too.) John Barry - he of the "let me repeat every four bars twice in everything I compose" - came up with his most hauntingly beautiful theme; and Don Black's lyrics are outstanding. Tom Jones performing it is the icing on the cake. Thanks for the upload
I went to see this when I was 14,,,and got grounded for months afterwards.I had been told,,
"you will NOT go to see this" God, all the memories that come back when hearing this.

Tom Jones reportedly passed out at the recording session after hitting the final note on this song.

Not sure if this has been mentioned in a previous comment:
When recording this Tom Jones was very sick, it was all done in a single take, and he fainted at the end of the song and was taken to hospital.
I thought that was a bit interesting.

@binscent1 Now that's what I call giving it your all. And I gotta say that it's pretty incredible for a song that was done in a single take.
