well not exactly.......mantids are good ambush predators.........but face to face........there was a 3.5 inch mantis behind my yard one day......small garter snake saw it and in broad daylight.....face 2 face.......the snake just grabbed it by the thorax while the mantid tried to slash and grab with its arms......didn't work. Snakes are like all muscle.....just wrestled the mantis down and ate it later.....

I have a garter snake that got torn up by a cat, now she's in full recovery. She had the worst wounds ever, but she's fine now. And I did nothing but put a roof over her head. Never underestimate reptile durability.

Good job! At least there are some people who try to keep their reptiles in good health. It's nice that your lizard was okay, and even nicer that you were compassionate enough to offer such support. My garter snake (Mocha) is now living with me for everything we've been through. She's such a little darling she'll curl up around your neck for hours, and once she saved my leopard gecko from a hobo spider that was trying to get into his cage. I love that snake.
