@awkando1 They are for a particular type of people who can appreciate art and talent. Don't worry, you'll never understand..it takes a sense of sophistication to enjoy.
Is Kristin's singing voice naturally that grating (for lack of a nicer word) in the lower part of her register or does she act out that voice? Btw Kristin... Nice save at 2:29
I love both of the actresses, particularly Idina. But I don't really understand the hype about Wicked. It's fun, and definitely a cool take on the Wizard of Oz, but I think it just fits today's pop culture, I can't see it becoming a classic.
No. It's not. It hasn't lasted any significant amount of time. And being adored by teenage girls and sensationalist media does NOT make a classic. Good day to you.
Wicked has been broadway's top selling show for two years. In 2006 it became the highest grossing show ever. Over two million people have seen it (so there goes your sensationalist media and teenage girls idea). It's also the highest grossing show in the West End, ever. Maybe it will withstand the test of time, maybe it won't... but it's definately a classic.
@smccoli230 Ummm... I'm a 15 year old male (perfectly straight), and I loved that musical as much so as Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of the Opera", as the 1967 version of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown", and as much as the classic :Music Man".
Hard to imagine a time when people would have been walking by uninterested in what was taking place. Obviously Wicked had just had opened and most folks were unfamiliar with Idina or Kristin. If this had been six months later, they would have had to shut down a couple of blocks because of the crowd.
you can tell how hard Idina is trying not to laugh so much. It shows the friendship that her and Kristin had - i'm just gutted i never got to see them perform together :(
You can tell that this was a clip from when the musical first came out.If it would have been any time around these days, there would be fans blocking traffic, screaming and the streets would look like times square around new years.
@defygravitybewicked That's what makes Kristin a pro, her able to stay in character despite the cold. Plus with her singing upside down on a bed at the end. NOT easy to do. xD;
I havn't seen the play of this yet but from this it dosesn't seem like the book at all! It still looks cute though. I guess a musical version of this had to change their attitudes to make it more fun. lol but still everyone should read the book!
@temozachika i know ive seen all episodes..i just love how ironic it is that they sing defying gravity..in glee the song that these ppl (kristin and idina) sing in the musical
