@Krawtchuk Do you judge a show always on how much the crowd laughs? Did it ever occur to you that it might have been the acoustics? Or that the crowd actually thinks about his jokes before they laugh instead of immediately roaring with laughter at everything he says like a bunch of mindless sheep?
@XxSweetDelicious and @Krawtchuk The crowd doesn't laugh enough because unlike people who laugh at everything he says, the crowd's attentive and thinks about what he's saying, and when he's trying to talk, they let him talk. It's out of respect.
aren't there any dutch comedians out there, that you have to fucking import american ones? your little, insignificant country really must suck... on top of that, his material is about american issues...
Way to go numbhead! They are not American issues. They're world issues (unfortunately) mixed with typical dutch issues. You wouldnt know caus your brain doesnt let you!
Isignificant fuck! And there are dutch comedians.........but again you wouldnt know....
Enjoy life in what you would probably consider the best country in the fucking world.....
I am just proud of my little insignificant sucking country....
@DennisTaylor1988 I wouldn't be surprised if this came from a dumb American mouth... I mean, you don't seem to even understand the meaning of 'import'? It is fairly ignorant, and VERY American, to think that a country does not contain any comedians of its own.
You don't even have an understanding of what comedy is. Ever heard of opinions? Ever heard of taste? No of course not, you only live in your own dreamworld, learning nothing of the real world. Because really, you are just a son of a bitch.
@DennisTaylor1988 - Other than most Americans, we like too see beyond our own borders. And yes, there are Dutch comedians, but you wouldn't come across them on Youtube, let alone understand what they are saying. That's our advantage...We're multilingual! So grab a burger or choke in a bucket of KFC, fucking redneck.
@doemberg let's analyse your stupid comment for a minute here.
1. you do not "LIKE" but "HAVE" to see beyond your borders (USA, UK) for popular culture and entertainment media (movies, tv shows, music) because your "little, insignificant" dutch community can't create enough quality and quantity.
2. you did not "CHOOSE" but "HAVE" to be multilingual, because the dutch world just fucking IS too "little and insignificant". why aren't the french as fluent in english as the dutch? think about it
@DennisTaylor1988 Because your issues are significant to the rest of the world? Your stupidity can drive the whole world's economy down, for example. Not to mention, americans are the dumbest western country by a mile. Your school system is an insult to education. So yes, we love to listen to smart comedians like Lewis Black, while he makes fun of your messed up country.
Wow, your whole argumentation is just self-contradictory.
-You claim that america as a whole is "dumb" and "poorly educated", yet you do state that america is of "high significance" in global affairs and world economy.
-So how does such a "dumb and uneducated" country like ours with only 4% of the world's population manage to have the biggest global economy, military and political influence?
-Did your great education system not teach you to avoid "self-contradiction"?
@DennisTaylor1988 I don't agree that the whole of the USA is fumb. Of course it isn't, yet, the majority of PHD students in Science and Technology fields in the USA today are from overseas. An majority of professionals in those industries at high level positions are imported or on Genius visas. The USA as a whole ranks very poorly on several international indexes, including education. Simply put, that the USA has managed to be so powerful only obscures the inequality within it.
The whole country said it wouldnt work, would be way to expensive, would cause way too much chaos in the infra structural system, but politics......you guess again.....
They disagreed and were inadmissably proven wrong.....
Hi, I presume you don't speak dutch. Clearly, because A'dam is built in a very swampy environment, there have been made some expensive mistakes. Even though, and this surprises me the most, we think we know how to restrain water, we got surprised by buildings that were showing huge cracks. Many buildings in Amsterdam are not-leveled, So note it when a project of this magnitude takes place. Search Google for: Amsterdam subway problem. chrs JJ
@56jmoney It's probably about the Noord/Zuidlijn (North/South line) "the underground part of the line caused historic buildings to subside and the city's budget deficit to explode. Initially the project was budgeted at €1.4 billion and it should have been finished by 2009. The total costs were re-estimated at around €3 billion and the line would not run until 2017"
I think it's really telling how effective a comic - and by extension, a human being - Lewis Black is, that he has gained an audience that is willing and wanting to attend an evening of comedy that is not spoken in their native language. They judge his comedy with clarity and intelligence; one can tell this by the variety of timing and response from the audience, rather than conditioned response to base content. The greatest challenge for an entertainer is an unbiased crowd. Much respect.
@tmzrox Are you kidding me, the satire of people asking him what he would do now that Bush is gone, and then actually mentioning the corporate scum that Obama brought on board for his cabinet. It's priceless.
The one thing I love about Lewis Black is that he states the obvious. It's funny, because it's true. I think it's good that we have him around for a reality check every now and then.
Amazing - when he's pandering to the crowd, telling them how beautiful their city is and whatnot, they're silent & observant... anywhere in the US they'd be clapping their hands raw and screaming bloody murder like psychotics off their meds.
@suzbethful It's hypothetical. May not be in his, but any other vid you will definitely see it. How many times do you hear people say WHO LOVES FLORIDA or OHIO or NEW YORK? Then people go crazy.
@Stormshade1492 yeah, but at least they have health care, good education, jobs that pay a living wage, real vacation time and other benefits, take care of their children and elderly properly, no poverty, no gun violence, no crazy religious whackos, etc...oh and they tax the rich appropriately enough so they pay their fair share
@StevenBee2 a lot of the crowd are americans ..they live there or are stationed there with the military.. it isn't hard to travel in Europe unlike in the US ..they have trains that take u everywhere at a reasonable price..u have to fly in the US to get anywhere unless u want to fight the roads and traffic
@marineranegrita When did it become uncool to be cool about where you're from? There's an equal amount of respect to be found in a loud cheer and a silent smirk.
@StevenBee2 That's the Dutch way. When we find something funny we laugh. if we don't, we don't. Mr. Black knows his audience and our culture, which shows much respect with a little cynical touch (the way Dutch people like it best). I went to see Eddy Izzard a year ago. He didn't know what to do with the audience. Just because people were not howling with laughter doesn't mean they don't like the show. I have great respect for a comic who knows his audience, and none for one who doesn't.
@GoldenXBoots Well, that just goes with Lewis Black, doesn't it? That's just his brand of funny, so it goes. Eddie Izzard is more just improv and observational, and is a bit "bigger" in his comedy, as it were, so it just doesn't go as well with the Dutch humor. Doesn't mean he's a bad comic, he just works much better with English/American crowds because of his style.
@sopralto817 I hear you. I didn't say he was a bad comic. I just think he did not know what to do with the Dutch audience. He came across as incredibly uncomfortable on stage. In fact I felt a little sorry for him. Know what you can expect of your audience before you hit the stage...
@StevenBee2 That's the culture of America, people have become so used to being loud as a crowd, even if they don't want to be, they will anyways. Go to a soccer game Italy, Spain, or any soccer heavy country, everyone is going ape shit, and I bet most of them are generally very quiet well behaved people, but in those stadiums they go nuts, it's just the culture and the nature that a country has adopted.

My mother speaks English, Italian, German and French. My whole family and all my friends speak English. The Netherlands is a small trading country so it's required when you want most jobs :D
