I really like the Stronghold 1 graphics. Especially the landscape. It gave an Medievil feel. And the music was better than any of the Crusader music. It was be awesome if Stronghold 1 had a skirmish with different AIs.

One Prob: its all DVDSoftware, and if like me, you only got a cdrom, then its pointless. But I've had SHC since i was 10, never play legends or SH1, i bought SH2 for my 13th bday and i downloaded Legends from a friend on the internet. So basicly, I'm getting SH1 and SHCE for $30 which isnt bad since last time I saw SH1 it was $60(may have changed or maybe I'm wrong) I played the SHCE demo, its ok, but not 'HUGE' for me...only prob is even tho i have the files and its installed on my comp,....

I personally love this series of games. They're all very well done, plus they never get old. Hopefully I can get my hands on this collection sometime.

DRM-Free was a great call. Having to put in your disc everytime just means it dies faster. If you're keeping it in the case, it'll always be useable.

Only one I haven't played is stronghold 2. Legends kicks ass. But just go on multiplayer right away, because the pros online can teach you to be 100x better. The biggest thing is to put xbowmen in seige towers, then you rape everything. Oh and canada kicks ass.

@oscar5100 You've got to play the first stronghold... I played that like what 10 years ago and it was an awesome game for that time... then played it a year ago once more and... it still is awesome ! The graphics don't look bad at all, the gameplay is still fresh because it is so unique and the campaign with the music and everything, and the map editor I spent countless hours in... no really it's a great great game. Crusader too, but I prefer the 1 and its music and campaign.

Yeah, its clear that firefly really took note of the best bits of stronghold 2 and so made a much more polished game in legends, but theres loads of potential to take it a step further and refine stronghold 2 into SH3 and really make the definitive castle game. I hope we get larger maps and the ability to build castles on estates too. What I can't understand is why SH Kingdoms is going to be based on SH1...? I'm not a fan of SH1 they need to let it go.

Because Stronghold 1 didn't have the shitty rats, gong, and crime (as well as some other annyoances) that killed Stronghold 2 for me.

Stronghold 3 would be nice, but I think we could also have a Stronghold Crusader 2.

Then again, who says we can't make a different stronghold that has all of europe in it?

Have you tried Stronghold Legends, its basically a polished version of SH2 without all the crap you were describing and with additional mythical units that work quite well to rejuvenate the game - I'm not saying it meets the requirements of SH3, but its worth getting a hold of while you're waiting.

I think the annoyances you described makes SH2 better. At least more realistic.

It's a bit hard to control when ones start playing the game, but I quickly got the hang of it. Try using the free build mode, or whatever it's called.

That way you will get some experience.

It's all about placing your buildings tactically.

It isn't going to be like WoW, its like Evony/Tribal Wars/Travian

DRM is a type of protection that a lot of new games have. Basically, it lets you play a game without the CD, but if the rights to the game expire and the company can't renew them for any reason, then the game becomes unplayable (and your money is wasted until someone makes a hack/crack).

This includes all the previously released version of Stronghold. Stronghold 1, Stronghold Crusader, Stronghold Crusader Extreme, Stronghold 2, Stronghold Legends. All the games are fully patched and have no copy protection. It should be released sometime in 2010. I would guess before October.
