Terrible announcer. It has nothing to do with his accent and everything to do with his ignorance of the sport. Every dive is "very nice", for pete's sake. Too bad for Tom Daley in this event, there is a youtube video of him in competition maybe 2009 and the knowledgeable female commentator is soooo sharp, she calls them right, as soon as they hit the water. This guy is all stupid bluster and generalities, he should be calling horseraces.

Hi Guys. I checked with someone from the IOC. The announcer is either from Boston, MA or New York, NY. His accent is from the Northeast part of the USA, not even close to the South. This was also the announcers first time ever doing diving, as has done mostly swimming and other sports in the past. He tried to make the diving more exciting and to sell the event to the world, as most diving announcers are boring. Prozacvalium knows nothing about what a good broadcaster should sound like.

You guys obviously know nothing about what a good announcer should sound like. First off, that is nothing like a Southern accent. I am from the south of the USA, and his accent is not even close to a Southern accent. Secondly, I have spoken to at least 30 friends of mine from all over the world that all think the announcer is great!! Diving announcers are usually boring, but this dude makes the event even more exciting. Glad that your negative comments are just a minority.
