A true class act, a vastly underrated talent who never got his due, and one of my all-time favourites. They don't make them like him any more. My father once told me years ago that Janssen was routinely voted among "Hollywood's Best Dressed Men", and it's easy to see why. ... ... Rest in peace, David. You'll always be missed, and you left us far too soon.
The Fugitive. My favorite TV show. Although it was the late 80s when I was first introduced to them by my Dad. Loved watching those episodes from the 60s with my father who passed last year. If anyone knows how I can order these old episodes that would be great. It has be a couple of years since I last tried Barnes and Nobel.
@HoneyManMusic They're available to buy in the UK from Amazon but they're USA imports so I'd imagine they're available on Amazon there too. Don't think the whole set has been released yet. Best of luck getting them.
I loved that series too.Did your Dad watch it in the 'sixties when they showed it originally. I couldn't wait for the last one where they caught the one armed man. Don't think there's ever been a series since that's captured and gripped and audience for so long. Fantastic TV!
david janssen, was very good actor.he never made it ,in the movies.he was quite, the professional.he was well liked,by the crew,as well as all the actors.not too many actors ,work for 25 years.till his death in 1980.my favorites-birds of prey, smile jenny your dead, and of course the fugitive.sorry also, asensitive and passionate man.r.i.p.david.
He and singer Rod Stewart were good friends. I think they were even neighbors for a time. I have several Rod Stewart albums and one of them has a little pic of David Janssen in the sleeve inside the album.
Nice tribute. I wanted to be cool like him when I was a kid .. I liked his modesty on The Fugitive .. and manliness .. the quiet strength ... now I am 60 ... I outlived him ... I remember way back in the eighties when I heard he died ... I thought he is too young to die. I always thought his 'widow's peak' hair was how I wanted to look when I got older. Guys like this are a large part of our lives. Old school. He lives on....in our minds and with the help of youtube too. PG.
I've never seen Richard Diamond, but I've heard alot about it. I understand the beautiful and talented Mary Tyler Moore played Janssen's secretary in the series, but the only thing the viewer got to see of her were her legs as she walked by. They never showed her face.
I also understand that jazz great Pete Rugolo did the theme music for that series which led to him being asked a few years later to write the legendary score for The Fugitive when production began on that series.
A couple of years ago I had the honor of visitng his childhood home in NE; quite moving. The town historical museum has a nice display, and posters and buttons.
Could you upload some episodes from the 2nd season? Another chap has uploaded from the third and fourth seasons. Thanks again, and very well done.
@60Cascade Yep, I've been through Naponee several times, hoping I could see some sign that mentioned that it was David Janssens' birthplace, or find a house where he had lived, etc. No luck. Very small town, with one former resident who made it really big. The one entertainer whom I would have really, really enjoyed meeting in person.
Perfect choice for a truly great actor...thanks so much!

This is a Robin Gibb solo song from the time he split from his brothers circa 1970.

@60Cascade Don't forget his portrayal of Richard Diamond.
Of course, you know who emerged iconic from that program.

Naponee, Nebraska. Just south of Holdrege and Minden along the Kansas border.
