  • Thanks for the upload, wanted to see this for years.

  • @potatoe57 he is the same guy ? lol

  • @ich983 Clearly sarcasm tags are needed.

  • YES! YES! YES!

  • It's crazy how much Bryan Danielson looks like the WWE's Daniel Bryan

  • YES! YES! YES! *repeat to fade*

  • @Spig0414 YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES

  • This is wrestling the way it should be.

  • What a match!

  • Top comment: ROH Fans are the best in the world

Bottom Comment: ROH Fans are pricks

  • @dizzerdo Yes, they can be assholes sometimes (I hated how some of the crowds treated Jerry Lynn when he was World Champion) but I still say that the ROH fans are the best wrestling fans I've ever seen. Did you see them welcome guys like Liger, Kobashi, Misawa, KENTA, Marufuji, Ricky Steamboat, etc? Granted, some ROH fans can be really hard to deal with, like the purists who sneer at Davey Richards, but I'll forgive them. Death Before Dishonor IV was probably the loudest wrestling show ever.

  • @dizzerdo did you even watch the video? obviously not

  • @mdaTParis Um, yes i watched the video? Where in that comment does it state that i didn't watch the video? And I have nothing against ROH fans, i was just comparing the 2 top comments at the time.

  • @dizzerdo since the second comment is refering to Danielson's statement to the crowd I don't really think that the comparison of yours really fits

  • I am really surprised that Danielson hasn't broken out an "I have 'till five!" or given Justin Roberts and Lillian Garcia some special instructions now that he is a heel.

  • @wmmaineventer14 Ah WWE wouldn't let Danielson try anything that might upset someone. Just remember the necktie!

  • @NUFC2010100 Haha. Yeah. That might offend one of the younger fans! (Even though that is a heel's job in any other company)

  • Lance Storm is still badass!!!!

  • Now that's what you call a great match. I really hope Danielson gets to do this in WWE, because most of his matches have been 10 minutes or less. A few weeks ago, he had a great match against CM Punk, if they could do more of that with him, he could end up being the number 1 heel in the WWE.

  • I always liked Lance Storm in WCW. I don't see him as over-the-top enough for a world title, though. He's one of the most entertaining in the midcard title range.

  • looks like the trampoline in my cousins backyard.

  • Great match! ROH at its finest!

  • when did it happened ?

  • @mxaxnxo This match was at ROH Better Than Our Best, on 1st April 2006. It was the night right after Supercard Of Honor on 31 March. Danielson wrestled in that event in a 56-min match against Roderick Strong.

Supercard Of Honor also contained a 6-man tag match that was awarded Five Stars as well as Match Of The Year 2006. All six of the men involved are from Dragon Gate in Japan.

  • That's the softest ring I've ever seen. Wrestlers must love it.

  • Great stuff, pure technical wrestling!( none of that WWE punches, kicks 4 moves and finisher)

  • Lance Storm. So fucking gifted in the ring and its sickening to know nothing major was done with him, i.e. World Heavyweight title.

  • I'm guessing this was when ROH was good

  • ROH is still good, it's just not up to the heights it was back between 2004 - 2006. Which of course has fans decrying it as being "shit" or whatever simply because it's not as good as it once was, which is just being whiny and unrealistic with their expectations. It's getting there again though and still putting on ridiculously good matches. Right now what they need to work on more than anything, and they are trying, is improving the promos and increasing the depth of talent.

  • @Alleygreen2012 ROH has lost its most outstanding talent over the past decade (Joe, Danielson, Aries, Ki, Punk, etc) so for now it cannot even consider trying to be as awesome as it was back then. Its main piority is to build its new generation and create a new foundation of stars. I like that. Not like TNA trying to draw by pushing ex-WWE guys. Focus on crafting and honing the young talent who have yet to come out of their shell and really develop. Maybe we'll get an even better heel than Rave.

  • @CMY187 That's absolutely a major problem, they've simply lost their biggest stars. Unfortunately they lost the bulk of them right around the same time. But they still have some great talent, like Eddie Edwards, Generico (Sp?), Jay Lethal, and most specifically Kevin Steen who I think is the best thing they got going right now. What they need to do is stop focusing on Davey Richards constantly. He's vastly overrated, and his feuding constantly with Edwards is getting very dull.

  • @Alleygreen2012 I really do like Richards, and as for being overrated, no, he's actually gotten a lot of heat from many for constantly trying to do puro no-selling (obviously he has yet to master it), like when Morishima gets up immediately after a Superplex or KENTA getting right back up from a Backdrop Driver. I think that ROH is slowly building up to a very violent feud between Richards and Edwards. It may cause impatience, but you know how ROH likes to keep its heel/face turns realistic.

  • Thank god i've been looking this

  • I don't care what wrestler comes out to a ring, if they have The Final Countdown as their theme song it's impossible not to sing along with it xD

  • All in all, the best pure wrestling match I have seen in years, possibly ever. Lance Storm is truly one of the all time greatest technical wrestlers, and it's a shame he never got the chance to shine in a main event capacity. Bravo to both of these men.

  • This is what I call a cocky heel. The WWE needs to learn from this.

  • What an amazing match this was. The great reaction Storm got, the great work Dragon was doing as a heel (the 'fuck you, dragon' chants, which was AWESOME), and the match itself was fantastic. I read about this match on Storm's website and I love the praise that he gives to Dragon and the company in general. He closed it out by saying, "If you're a worker and have the chance to work for Ring of Honor, jump at it."

  • @DBH9120 Danielson's heel persona was PERFECT for the World Title. It's main aspect was that he was an absolutely arrogant bastard who believes that he is better than anybody and looks to prove it in the ring. And unlike WWE, where heel champs are often portrayed as cowards or cheaters, Danielson's heel persona made his matches even better to watch. One prime example was his title defense against Naomichi Marufuji at Final Battle 2005 (Marufuji's ROH debut) Vs Alex Shelley at Arena Warfare too.

  • I hated Storm when he was in WWE but goddamn was I wrong

  • @Xbibleblack Not Storm's fault but WWE's. Storm was just one of many wrestlers in WWE who deserve better than to be held down and/or given stupid gimmicks/storylines. James Gibson/Jamie Noble is a prime example.

Saw how the ROH fans received Storm? Hear them chant "Thank you Lance!" and "You Still Got It!" ?

You should see them receive Kenta Kobashi in ROH on the 1st and 2nd Oct 2005. That there's true wrestling fans. Not perfect, though. Jerry Lynn wasn't well-received as World Champion...

  • pay attention wwe.. although Daniel @ Punk on Raw Was Damn Good...

  • Lance Storm was never a main eventer in any promotion he was in, not even in ECW where he was most well-known. But without any doubt he is an incredible wrestler.

Storm is one of the most underrated wrestlers in the entire world, and I am glad to see the ROH fans showing so much respect and appreciation for him.

This is why, despite their flaws, I call the ROH fans the best ones in the world. This is the fanbase that grew from ECW; true, hardcore fans who really appreciate good wrestling.

  • @CMY187 I was really happy to see Lance here treated with respect. He got a bunch of fans' streamers, a great reaction, and got to finally wrestle in a main event. You could see he was trying to hide a smile when he got those cheers on his way to the ring.

  • @warlock776 If you haven't seen it, you should see Death Before Dishonor 2003. Paul London was in the main event, in his final ROH match and appearance. He was on FIRE in 2002/2003, stealing shows left and right with his incredible matches.

Jeff Hardy was also at DBD 2003, in his first ROH match/appearance...and his last.

London and Hardy were treated VERY differently. ROH fans may sometimes be hypocrites or assholes, but they aren't stupid. I loved seeing them welcome Jushin Liger in 2004.

  • @CMY187 GameStop have been selling a lot of wrestling DVDs, they may have DBD there. I'm not a Hardy fan though I knew he had appeared in ROH at some point. London was amazing though even when he was teamed with Kendrick in WWE, he was a great performer. And yeah, ROH fans are pricks at times but nobody appreciates quality wrestlers like them. Just finished watching this match. They were ON THEIR FEET when Storm countered the Cattle Mutilation onto a pin. I think that should've been it.

  • @CMY187 : "Lance Storm was never a main eventer in any promotion he was in". This is partly true. Ok he never got the world title and was never part of the Hogan/Sting/Nash.. level, but he did have a certain amount of importance between june 2000 and septembre 2002. In that period, during the final year(s) of WCW, he was in the spotlight, for becoming the first triple-crown champion in WCW history and made canadian versions of the belts.

  • @CMY187 (part 2): the following year, in WWF, he continued his Canadian heel gimmick, which made him win very quicly the WWF intercontinental and a years later the tag team title, with fellow Canadian, Christian. But after 2002, I admit, it went back downfall. So, the Storm years were short, but not forgettable. ;-)

  • @verhoogje86 ARGH, the classic negative stereotype gimmick that WWF/E and WCW loved/loves to use...I always hate seeing something like that.

This ROH match between Storm and Danielson is a shining example that ROH's main emphasis is on professional wrestling, not fame or money or gimmicks. The fans respect a guy depending on how well he can wrestle, and to see Storm be so warmly welcomed was awesome.

One of pro wrestling's most underrated legends, Lance Storm.

  • @CMY187 I kinda have to cut u off there;

Lance Storm Main event a few ECW PPV's. One of them being Him and Justin Credible for the ECW Title.

  • @ANDr3wTR33d Yeah, I know. I remember that, and I'm not the only one who wanted Storm to hold the ECW belt instead of Credible, considering that Storm is far superior to Credible in the ring. What really irks me is that Storm is clearly capable of being a strong premier champion but was never given the proper belt to prove it.

  • Oh man I was at this show. Fantastic match!

  • What year was this?

  • No1 has a better dropkick then storm no1

  • @stwdsa They seem to be transitioning toward this.

  • I wonder if WWE will ever use Danielson like this. It's such a more interesting character, the you hate him because hes that damn good and he knows it character. It would be such a cool character for him to have in WWE.

  • @stwdsa i think they're going in that direction now. he's probably gonna have that belt for a bit

  • Too good to wrestle in front of all these pricks. Hahaha.

  • classic

  • insead of doing that crappy gimmick with wwe in his last stint, this is where he should've been. Storm couldve had alot of great matches in ROH. If Truth Martini was behind him, that would be even sweeter

  • I wish Lance Storm would wrestle full time for ROH, Also, Thanks for posting this vid, awesome match :-)

  • the pop from the boston crab. wow

  • brilliant work

  • This is from Better Than Our Best.
