  • PG4life1, the CG is a part of DoD during war. In peacetime it's homeland.

  • ''There is a legend of a man who lives beneath the sea. He is a fisher of men, a last hope for all those who've been left behind. He is know as the Guardian.''

  • If i was the one on the yatch fighting for my life and hoping for a miracle, I sure won't give a damn if the one who came to safe me was from the coast guard or the PARARESCUE or from anyone else as long as that someone make the effort to come. It is a noble job, to safe peoples life when they are in need. It doesn't matter which organization. They all deserves to be respected and we all should pay tribute to them.

  • @pjforlife1 I'm sure you were the kid with no friends that got picked-on in high school. Sorry you were annoying and nobody liked you.

  • Pj's SAR CG swimmers, all do the same job. All have died saving the lives of people the didn't know. They all deserve each others respect.

  • I sure as hell didn't see any GOLDFISH picking up the body parts of little kids blown up in a sweet shop in Iraq or picking up injured soliders in Afgh The CGof old WAS a Military unit, but that mission was changed in 2001,Look it up,you are HOMELAND SECURITY just because you maybe near Iraq means nothing, the Custom dept, FBI are there to,My point was that the CGGoldfish STOLE the PJ motto,Until you HOMELAND security ASSCLOWNS put on a ruck and get the blood of soldiers on your whites STFU!

  • @PJ4life1 first off the pj motto is "...That others may live" and the AST motto is "...So others may live" so technically they didin't steal it cause it's different. Also the navy SAR swimmers are also "...So others may live".....all you are doing is putting a bad light on PJs by crying like a little bitch about mottos. Additionally the Coast Guard is and has always been a branch of the US military (but they are under article 10 AND 14, look it up) Grow the fuck up clown (from a PJ wannabe)

  • @PJ4life1 you are dumb and misinformed but being dumb it does not matter. The Revenue Marine was formed in 1790 with a fleet of 10 ships -- whereas the USN was formed in 1798. Recently, the USCG has been part of Homeland Security, prior to that the Department of Transportation, and prior to this the Department of the Treasury. It has aways been and will remain a military service. With the direction of the President it becomes under the control of the Secretary of the Navy.

  • @PJ4life1 By your comments it is also obvious that you have never seen combat (prior Army, before coming into the CG), because you would have quickly realized that it's not the patches or insignia on the uniform of the man or woman standing next to you, but the measure of the person. I can only hope that maybe on day you will understand that and come stand next to me to serve and protect the citizens of our great country.

  • To all the angry PJ fans, for future reference, the navy rescue swimmers were the first with the motto in 1918. This was followed by the Air Force PJs in 1943 and then the coast guard later branches off of our swimmers and kept it. So if it's really that big of a deal to all of you, we had it first.

    So Others May Live

  • To all these people saying the CG stole mottos...big deal get over it you will never have respect for the CG until YOU are drowning and need help and the CG come out and risk their neck for yours...i think that is the same as any other of the defence forces the Army the Navy and The Airforce

  • OH, jUST SO YOU KNOW I contacted Admiral PAPP. His office told me that the Coast guard motto is "SEMPER PARATUS" ALWAYS READY.. PERIOD !!!..and that ANY OTHER motto is UNAUTHORIZED !! and that they agreed with me, that it is DISREPECTUFL for the Swimmers to use the motto of the PJ's, That changing ONE WORD, does not make it alright for the swimmers to use that motto.." IT DISRESPECTS THE COAST GUARD AND THE AIRFORCE PJ's TO DO THAT, AND WE WILL LOOK INTO IT"- ADMIRAL PAPP. At least he has HONOR

  • THE C.G. SWIMMERS STOLE THE USAF PARARESCUE MOTTO. YOU STEAL FROM MY FALLEN BROTHERS AND THINK YOU ARE BADASSS AND DEMANDED RESPECT. YOU DO NOT GET RESPECT BY STEALING THE HONOR OF OTHERS. ARE YOU GOING TO STEAL FROM THE MARINES, THE RANGERS, THE SEALS, THE BOYSCOUTS?? YOU HAVE NO HONOR WHEN YOU STEAL IT. C.G. SWIMMERS GET ANOTHER MOTTO. IT IS DISRESPECTFUL OF YOUR SERVICE AND THE PJ's TO STEAL OUR MOTTO THAT WE EARNED IN BLOOD

  • @ThePJforlife dude calm down, yep PJ's are the pathfinders. Don't get pissed if they want to be like you. Imitation should be faltering.

  • The "swimmers" stole the Motto of the USAF Pararescue. A motto that the PJ's EARNED before there was EVER a swimmers program. THOSE ARE NOT JUST WORDS, they are our LIFE, PJ's Have DIED keeping that motto and the C.G. "swimmers" STEAL from the Honor of the PJ's. Get another motto swimmers.

DONT STEAL FROM MY FALLEN BROTHERS !!!

  • @quickwave ASSCLOWN CHECK your FACTS..THE PARARESCUE has been around before Vietnam, the "SWIMMERS" only started in the mid 1980's . SO YES..THE SWIMMERS STOLE OUR MOTTO. A MOTTO WE EARNED IN BLOOD. The coast Guard of the past, WWII did have honor and did serve proudly. Driving land craft for the marines and army, dying in the process. BUT now..YOU, the current Coast guard.. HAVE LOST YOUR HONOR and do NOT GET RESPECT, BECAUSE YOU DO NOT GET RESPECT BY STEALING!!.

  • USAF PARARESCUE MOTTO- THAT others may live

C.G. SWIMMERS STOLEN MOTTO - SO other may live

WOW, you changed ONE WORD, and that makes it ok to STEAL the PJ's Motto, a Motto that has been EARNED in BLOOD. You wonder why the coast guard gets NO RESPECT, You have to EARN RESPECT and stealing from others is NOT respectful of THEIR service or YOURS

  • @PJ4life1FYI THERE BUDDY..THE COAST GUARD PROLLY HAD IT BEFORE THE AIRFORCE SINCE UMM THE COAST GUARD IS ALOT OLDER THEN IT.. DONT SAY U EVEN COME CLOSE TO US OR US AIRFORCE PJS.. FUCKING LOSER

  • @PJ4life1 you're pathetic

  • I"M BAACCK, ASSCLOWNS. You thought by deleting me it would make you FEEL BETTER, because you cant handle that you SWIMMERS are ASSCLOWNS. with Only 5 months of training. Tillman, when I get home, I will be HAPPY to pay you a visit. I will take out ALL of the ANGER I have on YOU. So go a head and delete this name too, so all of you CG GOLDFISH can sit around and play grab ass about how great u r, But EVERYONE knows your ASSCLOWNS. Enjoy your HOME duty. the REAL soliders will Protect the USA.

  • @PJ4life1 Whatever, whenever, I'm done playing with you. I promise I won't be hard to find. You just call the number.

  • The USCG rescue swimmer in this video (Mario Vittone), not only has chosen to make his professional career maritime safety, but also spends his personal time educating others about water safety, as well. The fact that Mr. Vittone has dedicated so much of his life to the well-being of others speaks greatly to his personal integrity. No amount of specialty training can teach someone that kind of moral compass or passion to serve. (con't....)

  • @jdpainter - You have NO idea what WAR is, How many C.G. goldfish have had their legs blown off, How many have been killed by the enemy. WAR means you are being shot at, YOU are an ASS CLOWN !!! You and your C.G. goldfish would not live one day as a REAL soldier. That is why you joined the "COAST GUARD" Don't have the GUTS to face death. Go clean bouys and play X-Box.

  • @wbvp Dude chill out...I was a loadmaster on C-130's in the Air Force in Tucson Arizona and worked with PJ's all the time. Yes they are badass but so are rescue swimmers. Everyone does their part to protect this country so before you go and start bashing other services just be respectful and thankful. Who knows maybe one day you will need to be rescued by the coast guard...then what are you going to say? They didn't come fast enough? Be respectful

  • C.G. -If I hear One more of you ASS clowns saying you are at WAR with an OIL SPILL, Im going to ASS fuck you with your head. You are JANITORS. Clean Buoys and the Oil and the BRAVE men n WOMEN will fight for FREEDOM while you watch your Johnny BRAVO CARTOONS, play X-box and paint ball until the street light comes on and your MOMMY tells you its bed time. I havn't called you 1) because I'm in Afgh. and 2) Im not gay, like u phone tough guy. When I get home I wll come to your HOUSE, PUNK.

  • @wbvp We are at war 24/7, we've been at war nonstop since 1790.

  • @wbvp There is a fine line between bravery and stupidity. I hope your battlefield tactics do not mirror your poor attempts to convey your opinions. That's my real cell phone number. I truly look forward to meeting you in person...it is gonna be a real treat.

  • LOL Really impressive, you ended up in the coast guard!! Whooo hooo The sad part is, while you're all bragging about being able to do 50 jumping jacks and doggie paddle across the deep end? We're all scratching our heads thinking.. Wow, what a douche!!

  • Mario, I could see the genuine heart of a humbled person in your interview. And you maintained yourself quite well in defense of your profession. The world knows you guys (and gals) now. Take your place on center stage and know that anyone even remotely associated with your profession is damn proud of it and rightly so. God bless and keep you all safe.

  • @Tillman787 Thanks for all of that.

  • wbvp - Who cares who had what motto first, as long as they live by it, and they do. Technically USAF is "That Others May Live" , There's is "We Risk Our Lives,So Others May Live" also the motto of USN SAR. I can't believe you would put down a fellow service member because of words. Really shows your true character and you should be ashamed to put yourself in the same catagory as these heros.

    Very disapointed,

    Navy SAR Swimmer Surviving Spouse

  • OO WOW SOME STORY

  • @wbvp

That others may live was first recorded in the US Government by a report of the US Lifesaving Service (early USCG) rescue of the Ephraim Williams. The report was written in 1884

We didn't "steal" the motto from the AF.

    We're all in this together.

    Mario Vittone

  • @wbvp I agree that the PJs had that others may live before the rescue swimmers so others may live. But I have known 2 PJs, and talked with many more, and none of them were anything but happy to share their motto with others willing to die to save someone they didnt even know.Cheers to the PJs and rescue swimmers, and all those who happily put their lives on the line to save those who can't save themselves.

  • @wbvp

  • @wbvp You are truly like a cancer. Have you nothing better to do with your pathetic life? You can't get the facts right, you can't qualify yourself as anyone justified to pass judgment, and you still haven't called me or lincolnrileylola. How dare you profess the right to pass judgment on anyone. Mario, this idiot reminds me of that skinny, annoying little geekazoid fart on the Johnny Bravo cartoon that wears glasses. Try not to let him bother you. He has no purpose in life anyway.

  • These are Wanna Pararescueman. The C.G. only gives them 3 weeks of med training and mostly pool trainng and you graduate within 2 months. TRY USAF PARARESCUE, 2 years of Training, HALO jumps,Adavn Med,Supermanschool jmp school at Ft benning and list goes on. These wanna be's could NEVER pass PJ school. With a drop out rate of over 95% Pj school is hardest of ANY training.

  • @wbvp The CG School is 18 weeks

  • FIrst Coast Guard, DONT STEAL the USAF Motto THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE, make your own like we MAY come if its not too far and the weather is within limits. NONE of these swimmers could EVER pass USAF PARARESCUE training. Be a man, join the REAL rescue team. USAF Pararescue or you could be CG swimmer, just dont forget your water wings and floaty.

  • Semper Paratus

  • the US Coast Guard born into it and forever grateful for all they have given me now that my dadhas done his 30yrs and reluctantly retired its my turn to be apart of such a great tradition and family

  • nobody gives a damn about them until they need them...we dont even know their names.

  • And they take unfair amounts of garbage from the services in the Dept of Defense because they arent combat oriented (though their Port Security Specs come awfully close). You sure as hell wouldnt catch me doing what you see in that video. I had the chance to train with some USCG rescue crews after EMT school and they are literally the best of the best. Anyone know if they have an equivalent to the Medal of Honor? They sure deserve it.

  • @FrozenEMT

There has been a medal of honor earned by a Coast Guardsmen....and it was because he saved hundreds of marines in a combat situation, that is why marines and coast guardsmen have a close bond together, and respect each other. Ask any marine who douglas munroe is and they will know what the coast guard has done in war

  • Shut yur mouth paconanme. Give some respect to the armed forces. who really cares. (PS. So Others May Live is the Coast Guard's Motto.... :P)

  • lol i dont believe i disrespected the military. I spent four years in the marine corps and loved every second of it. you guys have a nice day.

  • so others may live is the pararescue mato, not coast guard

  • no it's not, check again. "so others may live" is coast guard rescue swimmer. "that others may live" is pararescue.

  • shut your mouth...are you in the coast guard or airforce as either profession? shut up.

  • actually yeah, i was accepted into coast guard aviation a month and a half ago, wating for basic right now. i'm trying to be a rescue swimmer...i've done my research asshole.

  • gbh05210: I never heard that moto before? It's either something new or just pertains to rescue swimmers. When I was in the CG Moto was "Always Ready" but whatever! As long as the job gets done!

  • you're right..semper paratus is the coast guard moto, so others may live is rescue swimmer : )

  • gbh05210; I see by your profile page your really into the rescue theme. Are you a active duty rescue swimmer?

  • not yet. waiting on basic, but already accepted into aviation as long as i finish basic. got a month to go. but yea, that's what i'm going for...training my ass off haha.

  • That was your motto because you werent a rescue swimmer. Their motto is "So others may live." Im actually very surprised that you say you have been in the CG and never heard that. Makes me wonder...

  • Man, the USCG does not get the credit it deserves. Those guys are freaking heroic, no doubt about it.

  • i wish i could do this and help people out but im a shit swimmer haha

  • I was going to be a helicopter pilot in the Coast Guard, but after joining the swim team and trying to get better at swimming I gave up. I suck at swimming.

  • Thank you for posting this!!!

  • Oh man, that rescue's gonna keep showing up in their dreams for a long, long time.

  • this is my career

  • Stuff like this will make your toes curl--makes you want to run an extra mile or swim a few 100 more yards. Bravo Zulu guys--a job well done.
