By the way I was the first to both of these games at my arcade. I didn't care for house of the Dead, but these two where totally amazing to me. I just wish they were ported to the Saturn now then they would have been totally rad. Yes awesome to the max for sure dude.
Yes I' am blown away by the awesome 90's graphics. I love 90's graphics more than current games. It's all about making realistic graphics now, instead of making fun crazy looking imaginative things like these two games.
Am I the only one who actually really likes these graphics? Especially the enemy character models and the splashes made by the bullets in the water...
Man I have not seen this game in years, could not remember the name of it for the life of me lol....how could I forget that controller for it at the arcade, my teeth still chatter 16 years later from the recoil of that gun, lol.
This game was awesome in the arcade, you had to use a full size futuristic looking assault rifle that actually had a fair bit of recoil to it. So badass.
5:04 This ending only happens if you don't destroy the nuclear missile launching vehicle at Area 2, Hard Mode, but if you destroy it, you'll get a good ending which the General of SAAF giving you a handshake and the guys will salute you to victory. This is the only sequel on this arcade pack to have a good or bad ending
Gunblade is one of my favourite arcade games of all time.
I used to rest my chin on the gun so I could feel the shaking vibrations from the gun when you fire it. Memories... Why can't we have it back in the arcades? It's a whole lot better than Time Crisis 4!
Recoil could've easily been done by just having the wii Remote Vibrate every time you fire the gun, and you could adjust the vibration too. The only problem i see with this is that it may drain the battery faster on the wii remote. Still that's all the Recoil was in the real arcade game, a GIGANTIC VIBRATING Wii Remote.
@troy1002x lol it took me 7 months to forget that the wii remote resembles a sex toy and you just had to remind me haha. Now my previous comment sounds like a hentai without the tentacles.
@faraoseth Actually its not technically on rails. You are indirectly controlling the camera/path depending on how well you do and what enemies you attack thus a "different" experience everytime you play. It was the brilliance that Sega once was.
If you had a radio show (And didn't you used to?) so many people would listen to it!
On that note, what would I have to do to get you to do my voicemail's outgoing message? If you have a phone with MMS messaging, you can send it directly to my phone. I don't want to leave my number in the comments, so if you would do it, just PM me and I'll tell you. I could even donate to the CGR website!
I've never been much of a Sega fan in terms of consoles. But holy shit do they make some good arcade games. Can never get enough of their arcade titles.
SEGA should release Rail Chase 2 (in a arcade collection pack with another games) for the PS3 and make it compatible with Move and 3D. THAT would be awesome
LA machineguns was great. It had 2 giant machine guns that were attached to the cabinet and i remember them having force feedback. It was a game that after playing about 5$ worth your hands were numb and your shoulder a little sore from all the feedback.
Oh man I can't believe they released this for Wii. I may have to consider picking up that console now (Can a Star Wars Trilogy arcade port be far behind?? I can only hope!)
That said, I loved playing this in the arcade. I used to play this at lunch time at a place across the street from where I worked. It was 50 cents per play so I'd drop in a dollar and play with both guns akimbo, feeling like Arnold Schwarzenegger. It was awesome! X D
Gunblade is awesome. I always used to play this at the arcade. Prefer it to House of the Dead etc. The graphics are awesome. Solid, nice lighting, no wasted polygons, consistent. Nice -- this and LA Machineguns were classic "Dave & Buster's games" back in the day... oh sh*t, Mark just mentioned D&B's in the review! Clearly a lot of us have been there at 1 a.m. with a beer and are thinking along the same lines.
i remember one of these games were in the cafeteria area of the fedex hub in memphis. pretty fun stuff. i still remembered it because it was the same cabinet that was in the old arcade not far from me. i guess fedex felt sorry for it and bought it. i wonder if it is still there...
Blasphemy my ass! People are allowed to dislike anything, you unintelligent loser. If you don't like it, too frickin' bad! And as of right now, this video has 7 dislikes so I won't look forward to your reply until you stop crying for 2 weeks.
2 Games on one disc only slightly modest? How about a complete and total fucking rip off!. That said, they're a business. Their goal is to make as much profit as possible. Why release hundreds of titles on one disc when you can release them 2 and make shit-tonnes more profit.
The solution? Emulators. Share the fun for the love of the game. If you think it is good to pay top dollar for old games then you can go jack off thinking about EA and Activision CEOs.
@Plaskiz Strawman argument, stop putting words in my mouth. It is good for a company to seek to maximise profit, but when it minimises consumer benefit it becomes less of a good thing..
My objection is because 1. They've already sold this game - people only buy it now for the nostalgia and as a collection (which is how they SHOULD sell it). Note that 2 games does a collection NOT make.
And 2. Two old sega games on a single CD/DVD? Cmon..make it 10+ or don't bother.

@1shoryuken ..Yeah..not much support for light gun accessories these days..I agree that after halo 2 the halo series was low on innovation and very much overhyped...at least the newer games added some new things...although not much...repackaging an old sega game isn't really adding anything new though...just making it accessible to wii owners..
Personally, i prefer to buy the originals and play them on the console they were made for...lots of nostalgia :)
@Protoking Agreed. I own the original GOW but I'm afraid to say I didnt buy GOW2 yet; I have to save up for a $6000 pc gaming rig to run the latest games for the next 3 years... spare a dollar for a brother? luzltov
@surfermanspore23 are you joking? Was Halo your first game? Cmon..really..Each console has a couple of good exclusives that make it a must to own. Back in the day, consoles offered a different type of game than pc. You bought a console for platformers, MGS, FF, GT et al. Now they offer little unique games. Plus, online gaming and customisation is severely limited on consoles. Anyone who wants the best gaming experience does pc gaming if they can. I own almost all consoles, it's not enough
@Plaskiz I guess just so the guys who spent time away from making money can actually have some so that they can buy food and pay rent, sometimes I guess that's about all you get from making a mid-succesful video game.. everybody's gotta eat and have housing kids if they want etc how its gotta be imo
I remember playing Gunblade NY in the arcades and loved it. However, part of the reason the game was so fun was because of the machine gun controllers. I wish Innex would hurry up and release their Rapid Shot MP5 controller.
Aw yeah! The fast flying around and crazy angles make this a rad game! I remember when this came out, it was front and center, replacing time crisis' spot in the arcade. Poor time crisis...not enough new york machine gunnin' heli action...
These games would be great on Kinect and Move. They could release them thru XBLA & PSN for cheap along with other SEGA shooters, like House of the Dead 1, 2, 3 and 4, Confidential Mission & the Virtua Cop trilogy.
FUCK YEAH ive been waiting forever for sega to port gunblade NY i havent played it since i was a kid. Thanks SEGA and ive always wanted to play L.A. Machineguns but gunblade wont be the same with the wii mote i need the big black rumbling beast of a gun you got in the arcades that was half the fun.
Weirdest ending to an arcade game that i've ever seen.

Aw yeah! The fast flying around and crazy angles make this a rad game! I remember when this came out, it was front and center, replacing time crisis' spot in the arcade. Poor time crisis...not enough new york machine gunnin' heli action...

Gunblade was amazing, but the Giant vibrating guns were half the fun. Not sure you'll ever get the same experience on a concole.

These games would be great on Kinect and Move. They could release them thru XBLA & PSN for cheap along with other SEGA shooters, like House of the Dead 1, 2, 3 and 4, Confidential Mission & the Virtua Cop trilogy.

I actually expected the guy at the end to pull out a "HEIL HITLER!" on the pilot like in that old Captain America movie.
