  • Please don't forget Beach Blanket Babylon in SFO, they perform this song at the end of every show. Thank You Steve Silver and the Club Fugazi

  • Perfection. Every note, every word, every gesture. Her artistry was just unbelievably wonderful.

  • Absolutely the best singer and performer of the 20th century. No one could captivate an audience the way Judy did and this clip is an outstanding example. What a true artist she was.! Amazing performance!

  • What's all the fuss about Rufus Wainright singling "Judy Garland's Songs"? Did you ever think he is introducing a new generation to great music instead of the trash that's being produced today? Who now can write music the way George Arlen, Johnny Mercer et. al. did? Rufus is not one of my favorite singers but I respect his right to sing whatever he wants and I think Judy would have been pleased with him. No one really own's the right to sing any music. No one is forced to listen to Rufus. K?

  • i dont like to contradict people but the judy garland show didnt air until 1963 and it wasnt in color in 1963 so i dont think this is 1962

  • she's the only performer I can watch without stopping smiling or sitting in awe...=D

  • @Poet2916 ,,Barbra Streisand has a similar effect on me. Barbra has spoken with high regard for Judy as well. Thanks for watching.....Keith

  • you know, i love Judy, and i love anyone who loves Judy as much as i do, but i mean am i the only one who does NOT like that Rufus Wainwright guy or is it just me? He just makes me soooooooo mad!! please tell me i not the only one!!

  • @NicoleLeighKarbowski totally... i don't know but i don't like him... i just don't :/

  • @fjluvasht I know one reason why i don't! because hes taking whats already great (Judy Garland) and making it his own. You don't do something like that, i mean one song okay, but a entire concert? Judy Garlands concert! No, No. Thats just wrong!

  • @NicoleLeighKarbowski Get over it and don't listen to him then.

  • @arielgirl

    OKAY!

Number 1: never in my life will i have the NEED or WANT to listen to him.

Number 2: I can say whatever i darn well please about him, i am just expressing my own opinions and in my opinion he is just awful.

Number 3: you are obviously a fan of Mr. Wainwright (because if you weren't then you wouldn't have said anything) and i can see you are just expressing yourself and trying to stick up for him, which brings me to my next point...

Number 4: PLEASE don't tell me what to do.

  • @NicoleLeighKarbowski I can not stand Rufus Wainwright. He gives me a stomach ache. Wish he would just go away, and stay away.

  • She is so crazy and wonderful :X She will never be really dead.

  • Wow....Judy had tons of spunk and attitude man....what a great performer!

  • Don't even go there.

On her own, on a '60s stage, she has a billion times more charismatic moves and a trillion times more talent than Lady Shit-Stain and Fake-Donna and their endless sloppycats. When I learn that a totally phony, calculated, contrived, pandering piece of sh&t like Gaga stole a suicide's act JUST to fake at being a bleeding-heart FAKE ...?

Well, there will be a reckoning. Hang on to your ruby slippers.

    Seriously.

  • Love her little prance at 1.25, she looks so joyful! :)

  • this is from 1962 Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin were her guest, this was filmed in black and White, and Sid Luft had it colorized

  • Ohhhh, Judy! I hate this song, except when she sings it.

  • Wonderful!!!

  • She was Amazing !!!

  • I love Judy for talking about the Cable Cars, Market Street, the Top of the Mark in The Mark Hopkins Hotel on Nob Hill. She made Herb Caen writter for the San Francisco Chronicle happy when she said "Don't Call it Frisco" A native San Franciscan hates the word Frisco. She mentions the Bridge Across the Bay -- the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge not the Golden Gate Bridge between San Francisco and Marin County.

  • i.love.her.so.much

  • inside joke? i don't get it. doesn't mean i don't enjoy, but...what tha heck?

  • The greatest star that ever stood on a stage. Nobody was even close to her in excitement and talent. Peggy Lee said it best......."at the end, at her tragic end she was still better then everyone else put together".

  • If I like this does it mean I'm gay?

  • @MasterKat You don't have to be gay to like Judy Garland but it helps.

  • @MasterKat No; you just have good taste. Most of Judy's audience was not gay.

  • this does sound very much carnegie hall. she was in great voice and looked amazing!

  • Best performance of this song

  • I LOVE YOU JUDY!!! I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU!!!! YOU ARE MY INSPIRATION AND MY HOPE!!! LOVE YA HUN R.I.P!! XOXOX

  • Judy had the most unique singing voice GOD ever blessed another human with. Her voice touched even the hardest of hearts. She told a story with each song & her sincereity & reverance to all who came to hear her sing. She personalized each song no other singer had that talent. She was unrivaled then and still unrivaled now and there will never be another singer like her ever. 40+ yrs after her death she still ignites excitement & she is still garmering new fans. how many singers can say that?

  • wow that was interesting. She sang that really well. lol what was up the that little dance she did lol it was cute.

  • I have never heard such ADORATION for a performer, in my life ..people are practically throwing themselves on stage to touch Judy ..Amazing thing to see !! xo

  • I always wondered what the "Jeanette McDonald" joke was in the beginning.

  • @purplefrf Judy is referring to the 1936 film "San Francisco" in which Jeanette McDonald stood in the ruins and sang.

  • @jaydeenyc Oh, I see. Never saw the movie so that's why I didn't get it. :)

  • Jesus, I Love You Judy. :)

  • No gyrating back-up dancers needed. No auto-tune. No fog machines. No retakes. No stripper-poles. Just one helluva world-beating talent.

I vomit to think of the useless turds who presume to "entertain" us now. Then again, our culture can't get enough medicrity and crap. Our fault, in the end.

  • Judy was a real talent to bad they pumped her up full drugs and booze and used her to make themselfves all to get rich

  • She was the best of the 20th & 21sy century ,and needless to say no one today can come near her.

  • Judy died on the year I was born. So I only knew her from the Wizard of Oz when I was growing up. Thank God for YouTube because I'm discovering what a great tallent she really was. I can't get enough of her.

  • how the hell did a voice that good come out of a woman who was barely even 5ft in heels!?!?! what a woman....love this song!!!!!!!

  • She was electric, superb........but the Carnegie Hall Album mad me sad when I heard it, to think that this woman that had such a gift, and it was at the end of its rope.....

  • Tony Bennett told the world back in 1985 that she has to be the Greatest singer of 20th Century. How true. Just listen to her fans that night.. Not to mention the Carnegie Hall Album.

  • I love her Carnegie Hall album.

  • @NFitalianGuy In my opinion, so far, shes the greatest of the 20th and the 21st century.

  • not even god could do better with this.

  • That's one of the cleverest comments I've ever read.

  • this was from her show....do you know that judy had a dislike for jeanette....and vice versa.

  • She looks So Beautiful here! And she's in such great voice! Awesome. Love her so!

  • As close to the "Carnegie Hall" concert performance as you can get. Thank you. Love the Kay Thompson gestures...the backlit profiles, perfect.

  • I'm singing this for my show in the Spring! I'm super excited.

  • noone knows how great thiis is...no back tracks...pure musiic coming out her own mouth...LOVE IIT!!

  • Tony Bennett Eat your heart out.

  • This is so funny.

I wonder if many people understand the polite rudeness.

    .

I bought my audio recording of this concert number -while on vacation in San Francisco.

    Thanks for posting.

  • AT. Her. Peak.

    Period.

  • before she start's singing san fransisco , did she forget a song? becuase the jeanette mcdonald is featured in all the san's of hers but she looks confused as if shes forgotten a lyric, hence switching songs?

  • A Jaw Dropping Performance! WOW!

  • "i have skinny legs 'cos i like to drink...."

  • THESE are the kind of videos Youtube should feature, not "Fail-A-Palooza Toy Reviews" whatever. Exposing such a mass internet audience to THIS would be a lot better for everyone lol Oh, Judy =)

  • WOW!!! Stars of this Calliber doesn't exist anymore. Today, any nobody like Paris Hilton or those stupid Kardashians are treated like stars! BS!!! THIS is what A STAR is!!!!!! LEARN!!!!!! God Bless Judy!

  • Why would anyone want to learn when they can be rich and famous with no talent at all just by doing... errr... what is it that the Kardashians are doing anyway? Not to mention Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan and the likes. Compared to them, this is DIVINITY. We are cursed to live in an age when people can't sing, let alone make great art like this.

  • I love Judy Garland with all my heart!

To me, she is still alive!

    WHAT A VOICE!

  • what a legend

  • The greatest star who ever stood on a stage at the peak of her game.

  • I mean, to look at today's lip-synchers and wannabe posers, and then see something like this...your jaw just drops. It's like she's from outer space. Some fantastic animal. What the hell happened to talent and...well...performing?

  • It's wonderful! It is colorized, btw. Although broadcast on CBS, it was taped at NBC, where the accoustics were better.

Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin were her guests on this special. Who do we have now?

  • I love this performancce and on the dvd with rockabye and a couple of others...judy is on top formation here, thanks for posting i can never get tired of watching judy!!! x

  • Thanks for your interest and feedback. :)

  • @neveratime I think they should have used only one camera to give us that intimate feeling where they really show cased her talent instead of switching angles. They really show cased singers on the Hollywood Palace tv show when they would film them. But anything Judy did was spectacular! Thank u for posting this great clip.. :)

  • This is one of my alltime favorite Judy performances. This is from early 1962, and is available on DVD. Highly recommended, she also does one of my favorite performances of Just in Time!
