Just a thought (not a nice thought, btw) but I would recommend Arizonans keep themselves aware of a possible Valley Fever epidemic. I am sure there was uncountable trillions upon trillions of spores in that massive monsoon cloud.
We had another one last night.8-27-2011. I got off work last night and drove through the US 60, and everything was all orange because of the strretlights mixed with dust. Awesome.
I was on my way to an AMWAY meeting, going around the I17 to 101 & saw it coming from far away....knew we'd be in it going home !! C R E E P Y, couldn't see past the light ahead, it was like snow storm,or thick fog except it was dust!! everything hazy with it hanging in the air when the wind stopped. Smelled like an old musty attic... dust covered everything!! and when rain came , it plastered the fine dust into a crusty shell instead of washing it off!!!
lol, starting from 1:43, when he was looking around in the dark streets consumed by the sandstorm of nature, and the winds of fate, I had a zombie apocalyp[se feeling xD, anyways, Hope anything didnt happen
Yeah, haha! It's moving fast now! . . don't stand there , unless you wanna become lyk the dude from cali tryna take pictures of the waves that japan pushed here -__-
The Great Dustbowl and the Great Depression.... history does repeat itself. Especially those who ignore lessons from the past. You topsoil and your dollars are blowing away in the wind. end the Fed, end big agribusiness, remove 70% of congress and the president. $15 Trillion in (on book) Debt.
Wow, that is scary! This is probably a stupid question, but what is a dust storm? Is it different from a regular storm? Why does it happen? Regards Marianne
@NYmikeFL You would want to cover your face, doesnt matter with what (a shirt, towel, any type of cloth) and most likely be wearing some sort of eye protection.
GUYS, i am an arabic guy ,and i have to tell u that the guy who told u haboob, was egyptian i think lol jokes , lied to u. haboob is the description of the action of the storm when it is storming. but the dusty storm itself called ( aseifah ramlia) where aseifah means storm (= haboob lol) and ramlia means sand or dust.
so go annd beat that guy up lol.
damn even spelling checker get confused hahahaha.
thumb fawq ( means up ) so ppl. can see what does habbob means :)
As you can tell the only reason people are going on about this is because its not normal i heard that people move too Arizona because its clear in the air!
And yet as mostof us know there just gonna pass it off as normal like they do alot of odd dissasters
I lived in AZ for 23 years and I never saw that! 1978 to 2001. My sister, cousins and nieces still live there and yet they didn't say anything about this. I suspect this is a hoax. Timed photography.
The reason why people are seeing lately so many dust-storms, volcanoes, earthquakes, and record fires is because World War 3 has started at the phase 1 which is the silent warfare and covert phase. The nation is being attacked by Russia and China with what is known as "Tesla Scalar Weapons" and the tempo will be increased. Right now it is pinging. Google the weapons system and you will see many links, ignore at your own peril.
I didn't even know this could still happen. (cuz of the farming stuff that happened in the 1800s and early 1900s causing the dust bowl) I don't think that is nearly as big as the dust storms were back then, though. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
im going to phoenix in january for uti diesel, automotive and bmw training. first they tell me about the heat, now a hugeass dust storm.....so much for buying a car. (18, in alaska and wondering about florida)
Hello Ryan, Your video was absolutely the BEST on line!! We too live here in Gilbert. Your video looked like it was taken right from our street here in San Tan Ranch!!! I had to share it with all my friends and family!!! Great Videography!!

@Ladue11 Good question. You actually close all of the doors and just remain inside. There is no leaving the house...also, with the AC, we had to simply replace the filters and so far it has been working good.
@TrailsofArizona it must be an amazing experience but at the same time scary. if someone that didnt know what that is and saw that, they'd think it's the apocalypse! lol. thanks for sharing man!
@rkenshin0922 Yes, exactly...the only reason I knew it was coming was because I turned to the weather channel and saw the live coverage and was like, "I wonder if this is outside right now!" So, I ran outside and, bam, there is was right at my doorstep!
I got stuck between gilbert and sancaton on the way back to casa grande. I stopped off the road to wait it out. I was out where there was no cover at all. It was exciting It lasted about 45 minutes.
Thanks for posting this. I grew up in Mesa, and lived for 5 yrs in Gilbert. The dust storms were always very exciting growing up... mostly because it meant we might get rain at the end of it :)

... This exact storm caused a HUGE crash on one of the interstates. My grandma had a CRAP ton of people come in her restaurant because of it. x.x
All the truckers that couldn't go on because of the crash and monsoon. I hate these so much. :l
