As a favor to someone who politely contacted us to interceded for Ricardo Delgado, I have also removed from this page, most, if not all, of my straight answers to Ricardo’s Delgado’s unprovoked written attacks on Eddy and Maggie Volz and on myself). This is not a sign of weakness by any standard, but one of a desire to prevent more possible injurious situations.

Ive done business in nicaragua for the past 20 years, bought and sold houses and land. Never had anything taken from me. Now I have seen problems with foreighners buying land with already existing legal problems. They either didnt do their homework or were mislead by dishonest real estate agents (like volz). Where is the evidence you claim is here? I see nothing other than what was presented at the trial as the final ruling, which was nothing but speculation, not even circumstantial. All hard evidence supporting Volz was ruled out by the judge including evidence which contradicted points in her eventual ruling (time stamp on rental form for example) and there's no mention of the fact he was indicated by the person originally arrested for the crime. Its clear that Nicaraguan justice system's poor handling of the case is to blame for this farce of a murder investigation. They where naive to that fact people have common sense. The Nicaraguans created so much propaganda and clearly mismanaged the whole murder case. The witnesses and testimonies against Volz are not reliable and as the case stands I do not think he is guilty. But if he actually did it the Nicaraguans are the ones to blame for this mess not the American Government!

I watched the whole video. Where is the evidence? The testimony of an alcoholic co-defendant? "scratches" that were on the same shoulder which he carried a casket weighing hundreds of pounds? No crime scene evidence at all? All this in comparison with a rock solid alibi?

ONE judge makes the ruling after a case that's been a freaking media frenzy? He shouldn't have even been arrested before the cops had all their evidence in order. Obviously the concept of beyond a reasonable doubt does not exist in Nicaragua. Certainly the marks on his shoulder and all of the alibi evidence would be more than enough at the very least to shed reasonable doubt.
I feel sorry 1st for the murder victim, 2nd for that other guy who is still rotting in jail, and 3rd for the Nicaraguan people who have to suffer a mockery of a justice system.

I thought this whole case was ridiculous, the evidence was clear cut, he was no where near the crime scene, he had no motive to kill her. It was very clear that, anyone outside of his small group of friends and co-workers that, no one liked the fact that a white man was dating a spanish woman. As a Dominican I see this crap happen all the time in D.R. They simply needed a reason to unleash their hatred and anger towards this man. There was also a TIME STAMPED IM interview that Eric engaged in, as well as a phone interview and lunch with over 10 witnesses. This is utter shit. The real evidence (i.e. actual documents, cell phone records etc.) show a real picture - the cell records can be traced driving down the coast to the town from where Eric lived. The "star witness" was a drug addict, an alcoholic and a known criminal in the area.
