@MrLorenzotrigueros I still have it... It's one of the few knives I didn't end up selling, only because it isn't worth that much. It's a Buck Sirus with Paul Bos treated ATS-34 blade. It was around $90 when I bought it about 6 years ago.. You can prolly find them for cheaper now.
actually in home defense a knfe would be much more effective for a male aged between 16-55 to use. but i suppose if you are weedy then it won't be to good. The effective radius of a Knife i.e the area which you can attack from effectivley is roughly 6 metres now that is good in your house. If you encounter an attacker an he has a gun or a knife in that radius you can easilly defeat him if you have basic knife fighting skills and i'm talking basic lol. But i agree shotgun would be better lol
yea i see what you mean. but still no matter what if im sittin at home watchin tv and a "mofo" breaks into my house and both a shot gun and a kabar are within reaching distance id grab the shotty cuz you just dont know if there armed or not, and hey whos says you gotta shoot them you can hold them at gun point till the police arrive. lol
Yeah man your right but Im speaking as a european lol my gun rights arent as loose as yours and ill hav only the knife as an option of and a crossbow lmfao. my shotguns are locked up in a safe because i have to compl with laws bummer lol
The state I live in is very restrictive on the sale, storage, and use of firearms. I prefer a blade for several reasons... but although I hope never to have to use one to harm another person I know they can be used to protect myself or someone else... If you are well trained in martial bladecraft a knife can be just as intimidating as having a gun drawn down on you.
whats the real difference between a real otf and clone I mean maybe besides the spring or something but I know people who can easily make it stronger so whats the big up to paying like 200 bucks more? plzzz respond
It is pretty much going to boil down to quality of craftsmanship and quality of materials. Fit and finish will usually be subpar on a replica. Sometimes you are just paying for the name too though...
I got the CX version, it has DLC coated handles, a carbon fiber strip, and a 154cm combo edge blade. It was less than $100, the regular Skeletool is cheaper.
I go back and forth between my Strider SMF RW1 and my large classic micarta Sebenza.
They are just both phenomenal knives! I wanted both so bad for so long, so I will always love them just since I lusted so much for them... But they are also incredibly well made, beautiful in their own unique ways, and have a huge amount of pride in ownership.
I have been carrying my Sebenza more lately though, but it depends on my mood for the day.
I was surprised how good the knife is for a -100$ replica. I would have to handle the real Microtech Scarab to quantify the difference though. I can say it fires with authority, maybe enough force to pierce thin paper or plastic and maybe still lock open. I will be putting a vid up deploying the knife into different materials to see how it fares.
That is a pretty ignorant assessment. I consider knives as tools, although they can be used as weapons I collect and am interested in knives because I am interested in metallurgy and manufacturing of knives and edged tools, and I find the evolution of mans oldest tool fascinating. To take the time and effort to make such an unintelligent and obtuse stereotype only serves to perpetuate and attitude of ignorance and intolerance. Maybe come visit USA sometime? Thanks for watching!
I do concede that I say I got the large fixed blade knife because I had a prowler rifle through my car. I am interested in what you would suggest for a little peace of mind when you have wife and son as well as your own safety and security in mind. Your home is your sanctuary and I don't think anyone can argue that a person should have a right to seek a means to protect their family should the need occur.
Yeah the cat definitely thinks it owns the place. It always seems to wander around when I start recording a video, so most of my videos have cameos from her.
I agree! If I get a handgun it will most likely be a Glock, but I will also want to CC so I have been considering the Glock 30. 45 acp is my preferred chambering, anything smaller must have "magnum" in the suffix... just my preference ; )
Thanks! I was thinking of picking up a next gen ka-bar sometime, I'm planning some outdoor excursions soon and am starting to look at a few more fixed blades to add to the collection.
Not a bad collection, I have gone through many knives, I have broken mine, lost mine, and given mine away, so now I don't have that many. I just bought a kershaw leek and I am waiting for it by mail. And the ka-bar, awesome knife, I have plenty of cutting videos uploaded using that thing. Go out there and cut some bottles, it requires so much more technique than you would think. I am still getting good. Keep up the good work with your collection.
It's always tough waiting for the next shiny/pointy thing to arrive in the mail! I have no patience whatsoever!
I watched you bottle cutting vids, that is pretty cool! I keep my Ka Bar oiled up and sheathed by my bed... but I am feeling tempted to see what it can do ; ) Thanks!
Could you point me in the direction in which you found that scarab clone for $80? the cheapest I have seen was $125 for the same knife (I think they called it the Thrasher). Thanks.
It depends which model you choose, there are alot to choose from. I bought mine directly from Ka Bar, you can probably get it for cheaper from a dealer. I think I spent around $90 for the one I have in the video.
Nice collection. You should ALWAYS keep the spring assist opening mechanism well lubricated. Your story about someone breaking into your car is..well..who would break into someone's car and only take the change? I'd take everything, but I wouldn't do that ;p. Also did your microtech clone come with that..uh..I forget the word, lets just say sheath?
I ordered a bottle of Tuf Glide so I can regularly lube and clean my knives. The fact that whoever was in my car left all the valuable stuff and only took pocket change (left the pennies behind) had me so perplexed, it frightened me more than if they had taken everything! Everything was jostled like it had been rumuged through too, no idea what the scenario could have been.
Yes, that Scarab clone came with the nylon sheath. It's actually a perfect reproduction of the one's that come with MT.
Nice collection you've got started up there! I think you'll really like the grip family if you ever get into them; I had a Ritter grip that was absolutely fantastic, but had to trade it off for another item. Might get a mini-ritter later in the future haha.
great video! also good to see you got the TTi over the wave...Both the TTi and wave ARE heavy multitools so if I do carry it I have to use the belt sheath...but I mostly just keep it in my bag thats with me most of the time...ps I have a recliner next to my bed and behind that is a pocket with my cold steel kukri machete always at the ready in case anyone wants to watch me sleep, lol...Alos congrats on your 42, and 32 purchases!!!! 5 stars!
