Pathetic. 1966 was a lifetime ago. The game was broadcast in black and white, for god's sake. Most of the other top national sides have won it at least twice.

Face it. We no longer have a national side worth supporting. They are over-paid, spoilt premadonnas. They all deserve to be sacked, and replaced by players who actually care.

I know it isn't about winning. It's the attitude I hate. We're NO better than others. If anything, the fact that we invented the accursed game, and yet can only win that golden effigy once, speaks volumes.

I look at it like this: In today's game, most national sides have good playing facilities, good training regimes, and abundant talent to draw upon. I think this makes most teams more or less equal on the field. I think the difference these days comes down to "heart", or motivation.

Look at Brazil. A fantastic team. Many of their players come from poverty, but still manage to perform consistently well.....

@GE2productions ....and why is that? I believe it stms from their desire to win. They mostly have come from nothing, and, through hard work and dedication, have earned their place in the national squad. They want to win more than anything. And they mostly do.

I believe our players, on the other hand, have mostly come from comfortable backgrounds. They live in luxury. They are paid more in a week than most are in a year. If they lose, so what? They have their millions as a consolation.
