  • Love it...

  • I love youtube. I dont think there has ever been a better tool for education. Too bad its mostly used for cute kitten videos lol

  • excellent! thank you!

  • I had a bee land on my computer about 1 minute ago.. I put my finger up next to it and it crawled right up unto it. I let it fly out the window. I think I made a new friend.

  • Here are some simple instructions to how to build a house for one of natures best pollinators. The mason bee. A gentle, solitary insect that is a better pollinator then a honey bee.

  • It's an excellent video! Great Job!! Keep it up.

  • This is a fantastic video, I will use it for my teaching... Children will love it . Thank you

  • I didn't know bees have tounges..

  • Interesting! I only watched this because my nephew Alfie likes Honey and wanted to see how it produced.

  • We need bees but we dont need wasps

  • Awesome This IS What i watched in school today :D.

  • I watched this to try to handle my fear of bees. It was an interesting video. Still have to work on my fear though. Im always afraid they will sting me. :/

  • Check out how we are bringing bees back into Limerick City with our Bee Limerick project :)

  • Very well done! :) This is very accurate info about bees. I'm an avid beekeeper and I've written articles for American Bee Journal and Bee Culture Magazine.

  • I can't resist adding this to my favorite.

    What a wonderful video.

And I didn't know worker bees are all female.

  • love the information and the voice was so relaxing I was falling asleep lol.

  • That is pretty neat!

  • That guy has a smoothing voice

  • I am doing research for a painting I am doing for the Diabetes Foundation. Theme is "All Things Wild and Wonderful". My fruit trees are producing less and less and my neighbors in Upstate NY have had to stop making honey as the bees have disappeared. I am concerned for these precious creatures and am going to introduce these videos to my grandchildren to also teach them the importance of bees.

  • how can we not believe in god after watching this?!

  • fanstastic...to say the least!

  • really interesting to see such video

  • How are the queens born?

  • Great video, can you keep bees in wales anyone?

  • This vido is vary intresting!

  • One of the most interesting videos I have ever seen on YT. I wish there were more vids like this instead of the numbskull ones.

Is our bee population still decreasing - has anyone studied what frequencies transmitted by humans interfere with bees? Are we able to take over the bees job of pollination should they all disappear?

Thanks for the great video- This is how education should be - to fire your imagination and open your eyes to the most wonderful and interesting things going on around us!!

  • Bees play a crucial role in our ecosystem.

  • Beautiful.

  • very calming and soothing voice, thank you sir

  • greetings from a bee keper from Romania! :)

  • Excellent video. Thanks for teaching us!!

  • Thank you for going to the effort to make this excellent video. Not all You tube videos give out such highly detailed information.

  • this is a very cool video! thanks for sharing.

  • how do they get the honey off without the bees realizing?

  • how do they get the honey off without the bees realizing?

  • Very informative with clear naration. Well worth watching Thanks

  • Excellent video and commentary. Very informative. Thank you for uploading this video.

  • cool

  • Thanks for the upload, very interesting.

  • Thank you for the interesting video!

  • Wow how fascinating, thank you for this upload.

Beeswax is secreted from glands and is used by the honeybee to build honey comb. It is used by humans in drugs, cosmetics, artists' materials, furniture polish and candles.

  • bees are our future

  • OMG I LOVE HONEY!

  • Honey is one of the best sources of natural foods, thank you for this interesting video

  • I HAVE A QUESTION!!!! How Do they make another Queen BEE?

  • When the Queen becomes too old, injured, died or swarms, the workers look for eggs that are less than 3 days old. Up to this time all the eggs are fed "Royal" jelly. Workers are fed Bees Bread after day 3. They find several eggs that meet the criteria to become a Queen and enlarge those cells and feed those Royal jelly. After 16 days a new Queen emerges and kills any others that have not hatched yet. BTW this is the only time a Queen will sting! Day 23, mating flight and then starts laying.

  • Thanks for posting these video mate. ;-)

  • what does it mean by "the colony only have one queen" ? o--o colony?

  • so each box (seen at 4:42) has a colony in it. In the summer the hive can have as many as 50,000 bees and there is only one queen in the entire hive

  • There are bees in the colony of fifty thousand bee do the work, and there is only one queen is laying eggs, which all this Bees { sons of this Queen} :)

  • just like humans, who only have one queen/king at a time. colony is the name given to all the bees living in the hive, a collective noun for social insects. "hive" and "colony" are the same word really when talking about bees. hope that helped :)

  • Colony means city, or place to live.

Each Colony only has one queen bee

as each city only has one mayor or each country has

  • thanks

  • yes, sometimes a worker bee will start to lay. This is not good, her eggs are sterile, and hatch into drones. The hive is doomed.

  • what are drones and why is the hive doomed?

  • Drones are the males bees and the hive is doomed because a worker bee lays sterile eggs so only male bees are born and male bees don't collect honey or pollen, they just mate. So no new worker bees (the females) are born therefore the colony will die out eventually

  • I wasn't sure if this is true or not, but is it true that the workers start to lay eggs if the queen dies or is taken away?

  • Did you know that our honey bees are dying? Without them we will not have fruits or nuts any more. In the 1970's someone brought bees from Japan which had mites on them, these mites suck all the vital fluids from their bodies and spreads viruses that messes up the immune system of the bees. Bee keepers rent their hives to people who have orchards so they can pollinate them, and they also get honey too. To find out more type in why are the honey bees dying in the google search engine.

  • Wonderful viewing, it's like magic! Thankyou.

  • very nice video and well explaned thanks :D

  • finaly something inresting on youtube!!! more this kind of stuff

  • Great video many thanks.

  • What cost honey in europe ,usa and canada. Excellent video, thank you.

  • 9 Euro in Austria /Europe, 1 Kilo.

  • Best bee video there is

  • What a great video!!! Its incredible how bees are so organized creatures, I can't believe how nature's wisdom and animal instinct combine in this spectacular creation: The Bee.

  • it's so crazy how the bees know their specific tasks

  • This is very interesting! Thank you making me learn more about the life of bees, and what else they do other than make honey for us humans!

  • super video must watch

  • I know there is talk about honey bees disappearing but i live in southern ohio and there are a ton of honeybees all over my yard this summer i noticed. It seems like theres more this year than i have seen in some time.

  • Bees R so COOL!!!!

  • cool now i know what they do and watch them born i love bees :)

  • Excellent video, very informative. Thank you.

  • nice video

  • This is simply one of the best videos on Youtube.

  • thanks so much for posting this, its such a useful video!

  • very informative video, thankyou!

  • This is AWESOME video. What the possability of this video have close caption?

  • I was always curious to understand the fundamental point of a Drone's life and how there only point of existence is to mate with the virgin queen. How there life is robbed of existence after there specific job is completed maiting with the V queen (there sexual organs are hooked, there by being torn apart after reproduction with V queen). For those that dont mate due to one Queen and a handful of drones, will be expelled from there colony before the end of autumn, inevitably dieing..such fate

  • I bet your a dude - ants do the same thing

  • i did my project on bee's in grade 3

  • What a video

  • What a video

  • I love learning about Bees! They're just so interesting but they're running out.:(

  • They don't have to run out, help raise awareness about the little bee's plight, being a beekeeper is an amazing job and is so rewarding because you are saving the lives of so many little bees. It's also very interesting to see them work together.

  • i think he means bees are dieing of unkown causes. honey bee populations are declining, disease? poison?

dont think the answer is known yet..

  • neonikitanoides or something like that is a possibility. a chemical

  • You know I heard it was the cell phone towers, apparently the frequency we broadcast our cell phones on is the same frequency the bees do. I don't know if this is true or not, so don't quote me on it.

  • I work with a beekeeper and we use our cell phones at the bee yards. It necessarily doesnt have anything to do with cell phones even though alot of people think that. The main reason bees are disappearing are because mites have become very immune to disease due to human pesticides and what not and the mites end up killing the larvae. Bees cannot live naturally in trees anymore becuase of these mites.

  • Nope, there is no conclusive evidence that it's any one thing yet. Personally I'm inclined to agree it's hormone disruptors and climate change.

  • I have honey bees living in my apt building in the brick wall.

  • HOORAY FOR HONEY!

  • This is AWESOME!!!! My grandpa use to raise them and they were fun too watch now I am trying to get stuff together to have them at our bible camp for the kids to watch and experience the :MAGIC"

  • I want to buy and own bees for hobbie, i dont know but i love watching bees.

  • awesome...how is the queen chosen?

  • i think the worker bees make the queen in the hive, im not to sure. We are doing bee stuff at school at the moment in ag, and i remember the teacher saying something about the bees making the queen in he hive

  • That is correct all the bees are made inside the hive, unless you have a feral hive that is not located inside of a hive. The worker bees will make a "New" Queen in the event that the current queen dies, or isn't laying enough to satisfy the workers. It is an exciting society, that is for sure!! Enjoy what you are learning in school!!

  • Queen bees develop from fertilized eggs in the largest cells in the hive. Larva destined the egg to become a queen bee. When the egg becomes larva the workers feed it with the royal jelly through the entire larval stage. Unlike worker bees and the drone, their larvae are fed royal jelly for only three days.

  • If they have a queen and want to swarm or have a new queen, they make queen cells and the queen lays eggs into them. If they do not have a queen, they pick a few larvae which are a day old or younger.

  • I always love to watch insects and animals's life cycles.

  • I like your film about bees.

We are a family of bees Keepers and we enjoyed your describing.

  • Great video! If you live in a residential area, do you have to have some sort of license to have a bee farm?

  • Generally, you need to check with your local ordinances, though usually you don't have to have a permit in order to keep bees on your property. Though you should let your closest neighbors know about your intentions, and let them know you are wiling to share the bounty of your harvest with them.

  • Unless specified usually the answer is no and you don't usually need a permit or a license to have them, it's a good idea to check though.

  • Thanks for the video! My first hive arrives in March and I can't wait.

  • congratulations masibriner. me and my fam justed moved back to our home state me and my dad hive 8 hives and we dont know how thier doing cause it is too cold to chek good luck with ur hive.

  • This is for txwarden.I do not know if there is another way to email you since i only know how to comment videos so far.For equipment it is about 100 dollars and for the bees it will be about 60 dollars for one hive.If you want to know more about bees i will let you know since i have bees at my house.

  • but it is also hard.

  • Interesting !!!!! Good work !!!!!

  • These are some really good videos im looking forward to watching more...

  • excellent video ! my knowledge on bee's is now much broader! Keep up the good work !

  • "Rachel Carson's Silent Spring (1962) exposed the destruction of wildlife

through the widespread use of pesticides, and the ensuing decades have been

characterized by continued identification of both natural and man-made

hazards and consequent efforts to minimize risk."

  • Wonderful video. If you know someone in your local Agricultural Extension--email it to them. Alot of Extensions have free beekeeping classes. This video would be wonderful for people seriously interested in amateur beekeeping! ;)

  • How sad is it that I learned more in this nine and a half minute vid then a hour to two hour class of regular public school?

  • That video was amazing! After watching that video once, I know a lot about bees and other insects now!

  • Amazing creatures. Thanks for the video!

  • I am very interested in becoming a beekeeper (for a hobby) and have learned alot but was wondering approximatly how much would it cost to start a hive (bees included) thanks!

  • Why do they cap larvae cells? Privacy?

  • FANTASTIC!!! Thank you for sharing!!! We learned so much!!

  • This a wonderful, education video. Of great use to a homeschool family. The bee has a Wonderful Designer. We can learn many lessons from them; for one, they work wonderfully together.

  • I agree. You could say they are a perfect example of how some businesses should be run, with the queen as 'the 'boss', the drones as 'the supervisors' and the workers as 'the workforce'! All working together as a team. lol They're fantastic little things

  • Funny! Drones are actually just there to help procreate. They have no power, they do no work-- and are basically "kicked out" of the hive when winter hits....because the workers want to save the accumulated food for themselves and the Queen. They are deemed "replaceable"--"expendable". Even the Queen has no real power. Yes...she keeps the hive alive by laying eggs--but when she gets old, the workers make a few of her eggs into Queen cells.

This is the ultimate business. The workers run it

  • Ah but what good are workers without the Queen and drones?

  • fantastic.

  • fascinating! thanks

  • Honey Bees are an amazing part of God's creation, and honey is yummy too!

  • How can i downlode this video to show to my students?

  • go buy it.

  • "share" it to your email address. Download it into your computer. Save to disc. wah-lah!

  • Thankyou this would be a great website for my teacher

  • beekeeping can also be a great way to make a living. i run 1500 hives and love my job.

  • Comment removed

  • All bees are different. Each hive has it's own personality.

Provoking a hive could be just walking in front of it. The guard bees are on the watch for anyone (anything) that could disrupt their hive. If you eat a banana--that is threatening. Their alarm pheromone smells like banana. If you have been around a dog (petting them, having them touch your clothing)--that is threatening. They know that the musk smell of dogs means danger. If you wear dark clothing...they don't like it...etc.

  • That was a great video. Thank you for putting this up, It was very interesting!

  • A very good and educational video indeed!

  • cool....

  • thanks for posting this it's really interesting, and I love science!

  • this is such an awesome video. Thanks!

  • Nice video. Love the time lapse of the larva.

  • Excellent video.

  • Thank You! It explained the process to my very curious 3 year old! He now wants to be a beekeeper!

  • i like bees and i like honey too

  • Good video. Also honey is the only food that you do not need any license to sell - because nothing - no virus - no cells - can live in honey - so if you have honey - it is always pure honey.

  • these are all evidence fot that there is a god (ALLAH) who creates all the things in the universe..

  • Thank you!

  • Video about Bees Search: KelleyMcGowan

  • If I ever settle down, I would love to become a bee keeper. Thanks for posting this video

  • wow, very good information, thanks so much, keep up the great work.

  • Very good, thank you very much!!!
