@genestarwindjf80 my guess is that they made this to show to kids in the hospital with cancer, because in the credits there are special thanks to childrens' hospitals and throughout this episode there are little facts about cancer and things that would make kids feel better about having it. so they probably never aired it, they probably made it especially for that. and about the blanket...well i have no idea :P

@jawzzzzzzzzz Yes, that is the special's main objective, since a nurse of a children's hospital asked Schulz to do a special about cancer and he accepted. It did premiere on TV on CBS, but i'm not sure if it was reaired, i don't remember seeing it on Nickelodeon when they re-aired the Peanuts specials, i first watched it when our elementary school did a fundraiser to help children's hospitals, about 12 years ago.

I'll remember this episode forever. I was in third grade and our counselor showed this to our class because our friend had Leukemia. They said he would be fine and he came back to school for about 3 weeks then after that he unexpectedly died. Our class was never told why and all but the three douche bags of the class went to his funeral.

@Akron162 Not at all. There are shows about AIDS and Drugs and Cancer. Just look at Cartoon All Stars to the Rescue, it was all about drugs. Fat Albert & the Cosby kids had episodes about teen pregnancy, racism, and even porn. Back then, disease and death as well as other faux pas could be mentioned since kids were deemed mature enough to handle the information. I dunno what happened over the last 20 years

Now the UK's the spitting image of 'Failure Face' & is in a stalemate situation, & I have to put up with media which is risque & eccentric. I had no idea what cancer was before I watched this episode as a kid. So I thought it was horrible watching this little girl so ill. I even got night mares. I remember I dreamed that all my hair fell off (I was just a kid so I didn't get that it wasn't accually the disease that caused the hair to fall off) And I didn't want to watch snoopy for months!
