@Tenchcnet The container can and will melt at that temperature. However, to overcome this problem, they have enforced a magnetic force (as mentioned in the video at 2:55) so that most of the heat doesn't touch the fusion container. It is also useful as it compresses the plasma, giving less space for the atoms to collide, and less energy is required to reach up to this temperature.

This is much mch better than todays nuclear fission waste, which is extrememly toxic and has a half-life of anything upto a few thousand years.
