headlight replaceable element much brighter, electronic ignition vs. pita points condenser bigger carbs 28's vs.26.paint scheme is cooler looking.You have to run tubes in the older but the newer can be converted to tubeless. the newer is a definite improvement The charging system on the newer ones is also much more reliable. the kawasaki badge that covers the brake and the rear brake caliper set up is much better in 76 I thought they only had the ltd 900 but at any rate the 80 is much better.
Hey sharpshot, Kawasaki didn't make a 1000 until 77. But they did make a very sought after 900 ltd in 76.

there isnt a difference i got a 82 550 it says ltd on the side covers but the actul bike is a kz its just a name like the vulcan

well i found out theres a little difference. the ltd1000 is a little better it has dual front disc brakes and a few other things that i forgot
