Meh, I still wondering, Do they ever feel creepy, coz they surrounded by those otakus? Also, I always feel that those maid is kinda hiding something when they act "cute".
lol i went to akihabara and saw that maid. Believe it or not the maid is actually an advertisement for people to go to the "Maid Cafe" where they rip tourists off "like myself" into paying $5 for tea, to have a picture taken with one of the maids for $10 or challenge them to chinese checkers for $10. It's basically a money hungry scheme! it's really nothing but business
Otaku are a certain type of Japanese people who become obsessive over strange things like anime manga idols and video games.
Akiba itself is a district known for attracting many people sharing the same passion, the maids are very interesting to them for some real (maybe because its a glimpse at what they like within reality)
LOL. What an attention whore. Haha all those Otakus with their cameras -- freaky. That one Otaku is pretty lucky getting that maid to look directly at his camera. Even though I'm Japanese myself (but Americanized), I got to say Japanese people are weird when it comes to certain things. Hmm, ok, who am I kidding. I want to go to Akihabara too and join on the fun. . . . . ^o^ lol
Don't you see this very often in Akihabara... ?

uhh...
well first of all its not really aimed at tourists, its aimed at Japanese people (otaku).
2nd of all its $3-4 for tea at a 'normal' cafe anyway, so its not that much more expensive, don't go to japan if you're worried about spending money.
3rd of all its just a business, you're paying for the extra service and atmosphere. if you want cheap coffee, go to McDonalds...

The word otaku doesn't stand for Japanese People, pal.
fuzetsu 3 years ago 2
um, yeah, cause thats what I thought it meant...
i was trying to specify which Japanese people were the target audience - 'otaku'.
