Worst comedy bit ever. Ridiculous, unfunny premise. They were great in the monster films, that's about it. Costello was a total asshole in real life. Read Moe Howard's autobiography and find out how he treated Shemp Howard. He basically tried to blackball him because in the few A & C films in which Shemp appeared, he was getting way more laughs than Costello was. The crew loved Shemp, and hated Costello, so he tried to ruin Shemp's career. Costello was a horrible, bitter man.
