Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is the kind of breakdown I have been looking for, for a long time. Scientific explanations are what clicks in my brain and I wish there were many more people who could break it down like you have (like in sewing plush animals -.- ~sigh~ still searching for that one). Again, thank you. >^^<
Maybe a more complex example could be free flowing fabric. Like say if the character is wearing a sash around his waist, and the excess length of it is just a folded mess. (Or something similar to that.) I always tend to want to outline the shape of a wrinkled bolt of fabric first, then do a "wrinkle pass" after that, but I'm not sure if it's the best way to go about it. So I think seeing your process from start to finish could be really helpful too.
