  • she cant silence the truth I will expose her !!!

  • Thank God for Ms Goodman! She is a very needed voice fighting for all of our rights.

  • @The3dphotoartist like when she defended those black monsters that almost beat that kid to death.. what kind of monster are you

  • If Ms. Goodman had to put the children she doesn't have on an airplane, she wouldn't joke about airport security.

Don't criticize the people hijacking the planes, make fun of the people trying to stop them. Ha Ha Ha

  • @rachelgolem i can't speak for ms. goodman (i find that a bit presumptuous) but i would want my children to grow up in freedom rather than a big prison.

that's somewhat of a problem with our society - the people who are most likely to have children are often the ones with questionable moral values (conformity, comfortability and security above individualism, compassion and freedom) and no critical mind whatsoever.

  • I hope that yall realize that Democracy Now receives heavy corporate funding from the Ford Foundation. Which gets its money from stock in the the Ford Motor Company. So much for Democracy Now independence from corporate dollars.

  • That may be true but it is almost completely meaningless on its own. Who cares, as long as they use the money to pursue their own visions of journalistic integrity? Is there any evidence to suggest that the money from the Ford Foundation has strings attached, so that DN! has to push a certain agenda?

  • Well if they have their own journalistic integrity why can't other so called "corporate media" groups do the same?

DN attacks the corporate media as being biased because of the source of their funding, But then takes corporate dollars to fund its activities.

So if corporate dollars effects corporate news media why doesn't it effect DN? What they are doing is incredibly hypocritical condemning a funding source that they are a part of.

  • As far as I know, DN criticizes the corporate media for blatantly allowing the source of their funding to influence the content of their reporting. Money is money -- if I get a hundred bucks from a neo-Nazi, that doesn't mean I have to use it to buy guns and kill minorities. It's my choice what to do with the money unless there's a quid pro quo. Is there evidence of such a quid pro quo present in DN's receipt of funding from the Ford Foundation?

  • Your missing the point. DN is saying that corporate dollars and corporate funding effects journalism. But they take corporate dollars.

    from DN

Democracy Now! is funded entirely through contributions from listeners, viewers, and foundations. We do not accept advertisers, corporate underwriting, or government funding. This allows us to maintain our independence.

Just do a Wikipedia search it shows that they received funding for the Ford Foundation and ITT So they lie to their viewers.

  • I don't think that you're summarizing DN's point of view accurately. I think their point of view is that when journalism is funded by advertising, there are often strings attached which effect the reporting.

Your evidence isn't very compelling either: in your copypaste, DN mentions "and foundations". I hope we can agree that the Ford Foundation is a foundation.

Is DN the shining beacon of perfect journalistic integrity? No. But it's a hell of a lot better than any of the garbage on TV.

  • Yeah, it is not the point.

The point for me is that I trust Amy and Juan.

I am not saying the reporting is always flawless, there are practical constraints, such as time, but I am pretty convinced within reason they do everything to deliver as much a transparent and valid broadcast as possible.

  • Trust... huh your not one of those conservatives that base everything on emotion are you?

  • ok, be cynical all you want.

Trust has no political color but is, well, humanist. ...that's what Berkeley taught me...(joking) :)

  • I really enjoy hearing her talk. I hope we all do stand together for our rights as the government does its best to erode them. A vibrant democracy is all about people expressing their different viewpoints. Fascism is where people pretend to all think the same in order to protect themselves.

  • but she's part of the CFR!! lolol Amy is awesome i love what she does

  • How superficial. Way to avoid thinking. Way to prove her point! Image is not more important than heart, mind, and soul. You're not helping.

  • I wonder what you could be referring to. I've also heard her interviewing torture victims (same interview as yours? I dunno) and they were eager to share their experiences, and Amy was eager to get out the truth. The personal attacks you make only weaken your arguments about her interviewing style, btw, but then I doubt you care much. She's an advocate for those that no others - be happy you don't need her help.

  • Hey it's not Democracy Now!'s fault that ford gives up it's dough to this. Go Amy!

  • yes it is they ask for it...

  • Amy makes many good points, even thought we might disagree on some or many issues but we must stand together. Help our nighbers, and do good, spreed love. What makes USA a great nation is it's people. I am Muslim and i might disagree with another Muslim and agree with a Christian or a Jew. Love people but I do not like ignorant and dishonest and extrem Muslim, Christian, or Jew. My friends are good people no matter where they are from, what color they are or faith they follow. Peace

  • Democracy Now condemns the corporation and its influence in society yet receives its funding from the Ford Foundation the charitable arm of one of the largest corporations in the world Ford Motor Company.

Ford Foundations assets come from stock held in the Ford Motor company therefore as people buy more SUV and trucks, it receives more money the higher the stock price goes and the more money it gives to Democracy Now. Maybe they should say support Democracy Now buy an SUV.

  • This is the reality in a capitalist society. Were it not for funding from such corporations, you would not even know her name. There would be no Democracy Now! I work at an alternative publication, and we have no such sponsorship. Therefore, our magazine is in peril. We will probably have to close because we do not have corporate dollars helping us (and we never will).

  • Hey I totally understand the need for corporate sponsorships.

But if that is true then corporations are a necessary part of the solution and not the problem. So she needs to stop condemning corporations and corporate greed. Because the more money corporations have the more money they give to Democracy Now.

  • But lets call it like it is. This is corporate attacks funded by corporations. Maybe Milton Friedman is right the corporation doesn't have a soul its amoral creation.

  • I don't think she has ever been quoted as having said "condemn all corporations." Se condemns corporations that cheat, that break the law and then try to hide it people like that idiot who ruined Enron, jerks like that.

  • this is what is says from the websiteDemocracy Now! is funded entirely through contributions from listeners, viewers, and foundations. We do not accept advertisers, corporate underwriting, or government funding. This allows us to maintain our independence.

  • totally! it's absolutey what freedom of press is all about right! I'm soooo glad to see there are other people out there who recognize the gutting of the Constitution when they see it. THank you!

  • Unless by some miracle, average everyday Americans sit up and start donating to alternative media publications, you can't expect unbiased media. Sponsors always influence their benefactors; it's the law of the land.

  • everyday average americans do donate to charities and non-profits. Over 350 billion dollars was contributed to charities. Far more than Europe which does have a culture of giving and private contributions. Also the more religious you are the more likely you are to donate to charity. Maybe you should go after those values voters, if you wanted more contributions.

  • well if people agree with Democracy Now they will sponsor it. I don't see NPR hurting for cash. Maybe its because people agree with what is said on NPR.

  • Fuck NPR.. lmao

  • Poverty and homelesness fired up the far right ideology in 2001 and always will. thats why i said you can only change peoples minds if the people

remain comfortable materialisticaly as the changes occur. This is why democracy and its poverty creating economic growth via inflation system is doomed and will fail.

  • There is one imbecile on this page and it is obvious who it is: Jamie!
