The man is a legend, once an Arsenal man always an Arsenal man, never did better than when he was at Arsenal cos that's where his heart is and always will be God bless The Paddy
The difference between the arsenal of old and the arsenal now is crazy. All the hard skillful fuckers like vieira, keown and campell have been replaced by little half-hearted pussys.
I so would have preferred Vieira to come back to Arsenal especially as an experienced head in the team then to have worthless players like Denilson make a mockery of being an Arsenal player and then have the nerve to say he wants to leave, well good riddance!!
I almost dislike watching the old Arsenal team, it just reminds me and pisses me off how far away from that group of winners we have gone, when Vieira had a go at Man U in that clip it made feel ill to think who the hell have we got like that now?
Think about it the spine of the team was Lehman, Campbell, Vieira and Henry now its whatever goalie, Vermalen who's not been there all season, Fabregas who wants to play for Barca and Van Persie who was third string behind Henry and Adebayor.
@khasseki I agree but don't be harsh on RVP he's loyal and despite injuries he has always shown he's quality and commitment when he's played plus he was 2nd string to Henry since he was younger then and less established and when fit he was always picked with Adebayor and not 2nd to him.
@TurnOnA6pence RVP is Arsenal through and through but he should be played where he's most talented as a supporting striker or CF like what Bergkamp used to do for Henry, if RVP had a target man to play with he'd be fantastic, now he's being forced to be a box man when he's not, probably why we never have anyone in the box at the moment.
this guy is exactly what arsenal is missing. everyone in that team is soft. van persie, walcott, fabregas...these guys get injured every week and they dont scare anyone. maybe alex song and nasri have a bit of fire in them. they are surrounded by fragile players though. they cant face down united or chelsea(at full strength).
the complete player...inspirational, creative, hard working and mosst of all he had a pair of balls...he had no problem standing up to keane, when someone needed to
You have to admire Arsene Wenger for the team that he had back then and for his philosophy to play attractive football now and he always sticks by his young gunz! Saying that Arsenal will never win the league again until they man up and get tough! Man Utd and Chelsea have been bullying them to the title in the past 5 or 6 years!
@doggy1boy Can I say aswell that it wasn't his decision to leave, Arsenal agreed to sell him. He was preparing to spend the rest of his career with us. AW is famed for making a profit on players he bought on the cheap and has done the same with Henry.
At any rate, you couldn't have blamed Vieira for leaving at the time he did. What have we gone onto since he left? Dennis was 36 when we won the FA Cup in 2005 whereas Vieira still had 5 years left to find a new challenge.
i'd give anything to see Arsenal back to how they were in days. with real players like Vieira, Henry, Pires, Ljunberg, Campbell. take a good look now at the squad and who've got of top quality? only Cesc Fabregas. another thing i think we need a speedy, penetrative striker. and of course score goals -_- and defend well. not concede, heck our keepers are also rubbish.
God, I miss those good times when our midfield had the guts to face manchester united and chelsea. Roy Keane would eat the likes of denilson or nasri alive.
Pires, Campbell, Henry, Bergkamp, Vieira... what a great team, true commitment.
Our actual captain keeps saying he wants to play in another team... that tells you everything
@parvusmagister I know...... them days seem like 100 years ago. I made the pilgrimmage from the States to Highbury back in 2004, and then seen them play at Portsmouth in 2007........great memories, but never again, I'm afraid!
@doggy1boy TH14 left aswel ?? your right about DB.. he's a true legend, even retiring at Arsenal,, but! one great quote from the Arsenal History DVD... ''Once A Gunner, Always A Gunner'' TH14, PV4 will always be gunners.
arsenal cant find someone like viera right now viera ued to fight for us, that the problem with arsenal right now nedd someone like patrick

true leader, we are lacking a man like you
look at 2:09, he didnt forget lehmann, who was the true hero of that match, after he scored the winning penalty kick.
he went to lehmann and gathered other teammates to share the joy together.
