Lol ok why would you use that it's much easier using your thumb rather then your wholde hand wizzing everwhere there's a reason your thumb has a joint guys
As an illustrator, I like to do some quick sketch ideas on the go (if I don't have pad and paper with me).
I mostly use the pen for sketching because I have FAR more control with the smaller point of contact and my finger is too thick to see where I'm drawing.
I use my finger for all other apps since it's more convenient and readily available. :-)
Another plus to a stylus is, on bitter cold days I don't have to take my gloves off.
I ordered the front/back protective film through zagg(dot)com and used a photo of a classic Nikon camera for on the back. Excellent protection without added size/weight.

I find them in a variety of stores that carry general kitchen/house cleaning materials (large grocery store, Walmart, etc.). I've bought them in US and Europe – no particular brand name. They are often used for cleaning everything from chrome to ceramic surfaces, ...AND dish washing because there is no special (toxic) cleaning solution in the sponge – just a sponge with some microscopic non-abrasive particles that help scrub.
They are real cheap and we buy ours in multi-packs of 2-3. If you don't have one already around the house you could possibly take your ipod touch with you to the store and move the corner of the sponge around the screen to see if it conducts. It might even work through the thin plastic packaging - at least enough to know if it conducts.
Hope that helps.

I tried it on my MBP (2010) touch pad and it worked fine.
It was a bit awkward to do a mouse-click with it since I'm used to using my finger where my thumb is always in position (lower pad area) to click. Also, the finger is a bit firmer for the pressure needed to do a mouse click (on the newer MBP touch pads). This is not an issue with my older MBP touch pad which only requires a gentle surface tap.
A pen tube should work as well, provided the pen is made from a metal that conducts from the hand to the sponge tip and the pen tip hole would need to be large enough to allow for the wide "finger tip" contact surface required (much larger than most pen tips). Maybe an alu tube from an old felt-tip marker?

"alprapos" = all purpose .... sponge.

These micro "particles" also create the conduction between the hand and ipod.
On the particular brand we use, one side of the sponge has a thin scrub pad surface. The sponge part is used for the stylus.
