I think they changed it as late as 1988 because there were early talks of the Australian television aggregation around that time. They may have changed it in time for that.
They pretty much would have changed from 0 to 10 years earlier, but couldnt, because Toowoomba had a channel 10 and as the TV areas overlaped it would have caused interference. Toowoomba 10 had to change to 0 at the same time Brisbane 0 changed to 10!!
Another issue was ownership. Qintex owned Channel 0 Brisbane until 1987,when they found a bigger fish[The Seven Network],and were forced to sell Channel 0 in order to keep Channel 7 Brisbane. Darling Downs Television (owner of the 10 frequency for SE-Queensland) bought Channel 0 for $123 million off Qintex. Then, the switch was on!
Yep, RTQ is broadcast from Mt. Mowbullan at 50MHz (Channel 0). While most of town here gets UHF from the Mt. Lofty repeater, the western edge of town still have massive yagis to receive such a low frequency. The DVB channel is of course much higher.
it wasn't to do with aggregation. DDQ10 ended up buying TVQ0 in 1987 and then made the decision to swap the two channels' frequencies over, so that Brisbane would be on 10 to match the other capital cities.
(and just FYI. Aggregation was first planned as far back as 1986 with the first market, Southern NSW, to be implemented in 1989)
2008. 20 years since Expo 88, 20 years of TEN being branded as TEN (not TV0) in Brisbane. I hope TVQ decides for 2008 to be who they were in 1988(TV0) because they dont have to worry about a 50th the next year.

Ian Skippen at 17 seconds in. His distinctive voice can't be mistaken, but his different look sure could be!
Hmmmmm, the 80's 4KQ when it was a Country & Western format and other places.
