I'm 21, caught this from my baby cousin whom in only 5 days recovered. It's been about 10 days and thankfully the worst of it is over( i.e. the painful swallowing, the terrible fever, vomiting as a result of my loss of appetite) but I still suffer from the sore mouth and a hacking cough associated with phlegm. I'm just waiting for this nightmare to be over.

Got this virus swimming in our nieghbors pool me and my 2 kids have it ages 3 and 6 both girls, i have strep throat, but my kids dont they tested negative, gargling salt helps alot, tylenol and for me antibiotic, but my kids having trouble eating, drinking, hydrate hydrate hydrate holy crap hydrate, and yeah my kids are handling it better than i do.

(this happens almost everytime i get similar illnesses)
@Cullenhi sorry I wan't in time to help you out. My best to your sister. This illnes sucks. alcohol based hand sanitizer helps prevent the spread of this disease.
@Cullenhi try benadryl liquid 1tsp mixed with 1 tsp of maalox (if you can get you doctor to prescribe viscous lidocaine mix 1 tsp of that in as well), swish and spit it out (don't swallow lidocaine) every 4 hours. you can also use liquid sucralafate (US Brand name carafate) which is by prescription 1 tsp every 6 hours swish and SWALLOW (this one you swallow not lidocaine).
some live cultured yogurt also takes the sting away for a while.

I'm an adult. Hey.. I got the damn disease. Even the doctor here didn't believe it at first. FYI, I'm in Sibu, Sarawak, Malaysia. The HFMD capital of Malaysia. Haha..
My daughter has this and a couple days later, "TA DA!" mommy gets it=( My doctor says my case is rare, since I only have the rash on my hands and feet. Is there a way to dry out the blisters? And how contagious is this? My doctor said that it's only contagious until the fever breaks, but I never got a fever!
@Myerz19 when the blisters have healed up then you are no longer contagious. It is rare for adults to get this since most are already immune. Having said that, only rash but no mouth sores is VERY common so your situation is not too unusual.
The blisters will have to dry out by themselves, sorry.
I just got diagnosed with this today, the sores in the mouth and the sore throat making eating almost impossible, ive only taken in probably 600 callories in 3 days (went to doctor 2 days after)... would you say drinking something like slim fast instead of eating would constitute as a meal? drinking is a whole lot easier than actually eating something :s
@lordredeye without seeing you it is hard to give specific advice. In general, if you are going to drink something, high calorie ensure is probably the best followed by boost which is better tasting but not nutritionally complete would be a second choice. Having said that run this by a physician who has actually seen you. My advice is generic because I don't know you or your medical situation and that isn't such a good thing.
I have this now bin almost a week it fucking sucks my mouth is infected so bad and since my wisdom teeth were coming in they got infection also
