  • Damn! I didn't need all these tears this morning...How did I get here? ;)

  • Woopie looks like my mean ass great grandmother in this movie. Damn, I miss her...

  • I dont care wat ppl say about this movie. This the best Movie ever made:)

  • 4 people ran out of tissues.

  • The most perfect ending to the most beautiful movie ever made.

  • (*sobbing*) This always has and always will be the most touching movie of all time.

  • I love how Mister did right in the end. I read the book so him and Celie end up getting along in the end, but she will never trust men. Mister is good to his grandchildren.

  • I wish they made a scene where they "sit around and whoop Misters ass" LOL!!!

  • this movie is about unity!

  • I love this movie!!!!!!!!! see most will see that it is about black and white but when you look past that!!! it is about love!!! its about strength!!!!! its about you can never ever stop the love for a family!!

  • I always cry when I watch this scene.

  • fuck all you all...the best movie ever made. my favorite movie

  • @gretzkyswoman but thare s i cannot understand despite the movie was excellent, why did they kissed in the lips, its about a salut or something?

  • the only good thing "mister" ever did for Celie was arrange to have her family reunited with her...the bastard. lol!

    such a tear-jerking scene...

  • sorry to be a party pooper but they are speaking swahili which isnt spoken in west africa.

  • I was so lucky back then to work in movie as manager when films like this were played. WOW. I was blessed.

  • i started to cry just by clicking the link.

  • KeithWasHere1 there are 2 other books based around "the color purple" - there is the one I just read, called "possessing the sexret of joy" Which tells the story of Tashi after she left to go anb be initiated by her tribe. And the other book is called - The Temple Of My Familiar, you can find out about them on Alice Walkers Garden . com

  • after this movie i began collecting all of whoopi goldbergs movies..Jumping Jack Flash,Burglar,Fatal Beauty...hell of an actress..but she never did make another movie with this much soul and power!

  • I have seen the Color Purple exactly 400 billion times and I ALWAYS cry at this scene! NETTIEEEEEEE!!!

  • 25 years later this last scene still turns me into a weepy bag of slop

  • Thank you for this. Have just finished reading Alice Walker's 'Possessing The Secret Of Joy' which tells Tashi's story so wanted to see a clip of her again. I always cry at this movie too, and the book about Tashi is equally as good, Would definitely recommend it.

  • @airdrieali76 there is a second book? whats it called i must read it!!

  • All I have to say is that this movie has a powerful meaning. This woman went through verbal physical and mental abuse and had the only person that loved her taken away from her. And look what happens, she stands up for herself, she believes that she is beautiful and that people loves her..and most important of all she reunited with her sister and children. What a blessing.

  • I always cry watching this movie too. ESPECIALLY during this scene when Adam calls Celie "mama". Then it's over for me- I'm a mess by then.

  • @jovemako that my mother language . is from dr.congo

  • Hey Daniel Zavagno, don't forget Celie's children was raised in Africa buy the African Methodist church, and the African culture

  • This is the most heartfelt scene, would love to see a Part Two, what happened when Celie reunited with her family. Job well done Mr. Spillburge.

  • There is something strange at this scene. Celie's children were created by an American couple. So why don't they speak only one word in English? I never understood that.

By the way it's one of my favorite movies.

  • @DanielZavagna I think they just spoke in the language they they comfortable in. If you were in the same position would you be thinking' Right. I'll impress mom with my English?' Think about it.

  • Thank you so much. Who ever did this. Love is the answere.

  • It took me to read the book to realize that Albert was the one that paid for Nettie to come back to Celie. His ignorant ass finally changed...

  • Both sisters have on shades of purple.....so fitting. What a beautiful scene. I'm no different. Gets me every time too. Like a river.......

  • NEEEETTTTIIIEEEEEEE *floods of tears*

  • so touching

  • this just might be Heaven when this sort of thing happens :)

  • Everytime I see this scene, I wind up bawling like a little baby! It's so beautiful!!!

  • Dude, i just cried.

  • the one act breaks the curse. it's not forgiveness, but it's the first step.

  • I'm a northern white dude and this breaks my heart every time

  • Also, at the end of the movie Albert seems like a nice guy but don't let that one act erase all the hell he put Celie through.

  • I don't understand why they never learned English since their relatives and the Mission they were a part of spoke it. Great movie though.

  • =(

  • 4 people were crying and hit the dislike button

  • Reminds me of when I met my natural mother for the first time just after I graduated from college. I was almost 23 at the time. Ironically I was practically numb when I first met her but then completely down at the end of the day. I totally lost it when my newly found grandfather told me as he held me that he and my mom never stopped praying for me and my siblings!

  • As many times that Ive seen this, I always cry...(tears)

  • When I saw this movie I didn't understand Danny Glovers character from being bad and then to good. As I grew up I came to understand that there is good in everyone even in people like Glover's character. When I saw the smile on his face when Nettie and Celie reunited, I knew that he understood his greed, vices and sins and repent himself to set things right and as his way of apologizing. People can and do change.

  • MY SISTER LIVES IN TN AND I LIVE IN ALABAMA EVERY TIME WE MEET UP WE DO THIS SCENE AND RUN TO EACHOTHER,I LOVE MY SISTER TO THE WORLDS END AND BACK.OUR BOND WILL NEVER BREAK NO MATTER HOW FAR OR HOW LONG WE ARE APART.

  • I always cry when i watch this scene. and when shug reunites with her father

  • Oh I cry when I watch this movie...since I was a little girl. This movie is TIMELESS!! CLASSIC!!!!

  • I've watched this movie so often, and even if i tried not to cry,i just couldn't help but to do it.Especially on this part. Love this movie so much

  • The four people who disliked this scene have NO heart and NO soul.

  • This movie should have won EVERY SINGLE Oscar award it was nominated for! The biggest racial snub in Oscar history!!!

  • I always get moved by this scene, but when I watcehed this movie with my cousin he laughed on the way celie's kids are talking ...

  • This scene and the scene where Mister tears them apart ahve got to be two of the most emotionally wrenching scenes ever! They bring me to tears every time. Cathartic and beautiful.

  • i must be the only one who cracks up when nettie yells celie's name lol. love the movie, but never cried over it.

  • damn damn damn lol everytime I watch this scene I always find myself consumed up in a wave of tears!!

  • i hate when people say they're gay for kissing each other like that

  • @buddahnature What the fuck is going on here? they're sisters.....

  • @fatizoo1000 precisely, so i dont get why ppl think this is "gay"

  • @buddahnature What do you think about celie and Shug?

  • @fatizoo1000 ...ok now that one may have been slightly..."homotastic". But nettie an celie, no, they're sisters, it doesnt count.

  • @fatizoo1000 Dude, Angelina Jolie kisses her brother the very same way; it's no big deal. Did you see any tongues? Exactly.

  • @jemmabond Look... we all know that Angelina was in relation with her brother... I don't know ... he fucked her up everyday in their house... or something like that... but this is a movie.. and we all understand that...

  • @jemmabond Angelina is a freak of nature. This is a pure expression of love for a sister.

  • Never fails to make me cry

  • I'm crying right now. And I always will.

  • I cry at this scene and the one when Shug goes back to church. The best movie ever.

  • Yes, the blind side is hollywood still being and "arse" because HOW MANY TIMES HAVE THAT SAME FUCKING STORY BEEN TOLD?! Really, come on now: great white hope comes to save the dumb black nappy head kid from poverty and or a crack headed mother and the "BAAADDD black people" If it isn't some white rich family it is a teacher or a coach. blah blah blah, played played played.

  • Alot of rasical discrimination on some of these comments. This is how it was back then, White people where 'better' then Black people. It's all changed today - Thank God. Im a white woman & Im thankful I get to meet different people, with different backgrounds & race: white, black etc. Where all entirely equal. This film is heartbreaking and one of the best I've ever seen, but even if it was a white cast, it would still be heartbreaking. No person, deserves to be treated this way. EVER!

  • I think if the movie was released in today's standards, then The Oscars would be forced into giving at least one to The Color Purple. Steven Spielberg knew a lot about persecution; he was Jewish afterall, one of the most persecuted religions among the world, still hated by many to this day. The protesters that called against this movie because of a negative portrayal on black men used that as an excuse, but after those so called protesters watched the movie, they were quickly hushed.

  • @ULTIMADONUT I'm only sad that even today, there are still far too many single black women who are raising children w/o a working/caring father figure in the home. Many of these women are even raising their grandchildren too. Much changed over time but there's still much more than needs to change still. Education (primary & college), the ability for locals within these communities to start businesses where kids can work & dissolve the gang factor 2 bring brighter futures to the kids & parents.

  • Who in the world would hit the dislike button?

  • @circuitmedic, me toooo! I love this movie and I watched it again last week.

  • This scen just gets me everytime.....my favourite movie. For this life and all the others that may come. Thank you Mr. Spielberg.

  • well hollywood will always be hollywood, that jew will never care that is why those nazis shot, burn, poison them jews they are hollywood,, ,,black is beautiful,, what is an oscar,,, hollywood would be hollywood so (*&^^%%$

  • WHAT A GREAT MOVIE..,IT HAS AND WILL STAND THE TEST OF TIME

  • Wow! This scene, this scene! I am sure some other brothers cried at this, too. It's very nice that her (true) loved ones were present to witness the reunion of her family!

  • "Type PRIZE before youtube and hit enter"

  • I hope its like this today!

  • @WHATTHEBUCKSHOW same :d

  • @glasgowjesus1

Buck with this new you-tube version I can see everywhere you place a comment.

  • I cry so much on this scene it's like i need the whole tissue box!!!!!

  • I have to watch this scene alone because I always end up sobbing. Just hearing her son, Adam, say "Mama" brings me to tears. Such a wonderful scene!!

  • I can never not cry like a baby during this scene. One of the greatest movies EVER.

  • This is got to be what heaven is like.

  • One of the greatest movies of all time. 4:22 is MR repent and shows that all can be forgiven

  • lol, momma, her son is a tard.although a great movie its melodrama is ott, thats y it never won oscars..

  • Comment removed

  • I've watched this film 20 to 30 times and still cry when I get to this scene. Such a beautiful movie.

  • @startagain47 so do i.. :-)

  • @startagain47 me too....so awesome!!!

  • This part makes me tear up everytime!!

  • Yes!

  • Just sitting up here crying and crying. This is a powerful movie and this one scene is just incredibly moving. I'm going now.

  • Can someone tell me if the girl who played Nettie as a little girl the same person who plays her older(with make up)? on oprah the other day..they showed the actor who played young nettie but there was no older person there on the show.

  • @slimmy38 the role of Nettie (both young and older) was portrayed by the same actress, Akosua Busia. She had make-up on for the older Nettie.

  • show me an ending better than this! I dare you!

  • The best scene. Maravilhoso!

  • everytime....every single time this part gets me haha....out of all the touching parts in the movie...this one gets me everytime.....just love it

  • the power of sisters.

  • @quebex my sister and i are more like acquaintances. she's my only sister, but she consideres other people to be her 'sisters'

    that's too bad.

  • @kittybookitty I'm the same way with my sister. She's a relative but not my family. There is a difference between the two.

  • I cry....on this part.....I cry....

  • I remember crying my eyes out when I read this part in the book. :')

  • omg Whoopi i loves u, i DO lol

  • this part makes me cry

  • I bawl every time!!!!!!

  • @circuitmedic oh gawd me too..

  • @circuitmedic Me too! Blessed Be!

  • @circuitmedic .... I don't even have to see the whole movie ... just the choice clips!!!

  • this part's really mean... always crying... although i know what happens..... always crying...

  • One of the most memorable scenes from one of the best movies ever.....

  • I cannot watch this part, i always cry .

  • I have seen this movie, soooo often, and i still cry when i see this scene. I totally love it

  • someone get me a hanky

  • I'm ready to go downstairs and watch the darn thing. NEVER get tired of this film.

  • @uncleady1 AGREE. This is the part that always makes me cry, especially when the son hugs mom.

  • as a 'man's man', I feel gay and ashamed coz I just cried again.

  • @mrleethewee dont feel ashamed :) only a heartless person wouldnt be moved by this scene.

  • Y lloré y lloré en esta escena. Since the music starts i just can't stop crying.

  • Im ok, just leaking

  • this part makes me want to cry its good that she got to see her sister again and old mister should just suffer by living by himself this movie feels like it could be a true story theres only a few movies that arent real but feel sooo real and heart felt

  • I turned the TV on to the end of this movie. I only saw this last scene, but it moved me to tears. It still does. Just a beautifully crafted film. Cinematic genius.

  • No movie has ever moved me to tears everytime I see it quite like this scene. Genius writing and film making.

  • @TaterMoranFan Wow, how and why had you never seen The Color Purple before? Did you think it would be boring or too .... something?

    .....Who is Tater Moran???

  • @oblviousnesssucks1 Spike Lee did Requiem for a Dream?. I still have gotten around to seeing that one yet. Is it good? What is it about without giving it away? Isn't Marlon Wayans in it, does he have a big role?

  • @oblviousnesssucks1 Right, there is no one to tell our beautiful stories, our triumphant or culturally prideful stories, because they never get green lighted by those studio executives. Where is our "A Beautiful Mind," "Good Will Hunting," "The Notebook" "Shindler's List" etc, etc No. What do we get: PRECIOUS!!! Monsters Ball! Training Day! The blind side! THOSE are OUR oscar winners. Damn."

  • Damn it I'm at work and crying now. If my boss came and told me to get off YouTube right now there'd be some furniture moving and updating of the resume.

  • Man the first time I saw this movie I cried like hell...

  • This is my Fav movie of ALL time.... and im only 26 LOL....I own the DVD and me and ALL of my friends can quote this movie from start to finish! i LOVE this movie soooo much!

  • @12464564 This film was nominated for 11 Academy Awards that year! -It didnt even win 1. Do you know what film did win? The film Out of Afrika, about white ppl living in Afrika. Slap in the face? I think so. But then again the Oscars R notorious 4 doing that to black films, and always awarding black films where black people are portrayed negatively: Halle in M. Ball, Denzel in T. Day, Monique in Precious & the movie The Blind Side about the great white hope that saves the dumb black nappy head.

  • @SuniDays87 *SIGHS* So sad, yet so true...

  • @SuniDays87 I agree with except for The Blind Sind was based on a true story so it's hardly Hollywood being an arse really is it?

  • @funkycherrygirl Yes, the blind side is hollywood still being and "arse" because HOW MANY TIMES HAVE THAT SAME FUCKING STORY BEEN TOLD?! Really, come on now: great white hope comes to save the dumb black nappy head kid from poverty and or a crack headed mother and the "BAAADDD black people" If it isn't some white rich family it is a teacher or a coach. blah blah blah, played played played.

  • @funkycherrygirl That damn sickening storyline has been ran into the ground all the way from television 2 film. In tv only 2 name a FEW different strokes 90210 & damn near any soap opera you'd want 2 name. & as we all know that there is always a "nice white lady," family, or coach 2 offer their *smarts* 2 the dumb black kid How many movies can they keep making about the same damn thing? No, its just that white amerika just loves seeing those types of stories told, and we all know why Case closed

  • @SuniDays87 Of course not because our stories are not relevant unless they are told from a white person POV. Completely disgusting.

  • @SuniDays87 absoutely insane that this film did not win one single Academy Award....

  • @SuniDays87 You are telling the ABSOLUTE TRUTH! Thank you for saying it! I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees it.

  • @SuniDays87 Very true!

  • This movie changed my life at 10 years old and it taught me love regardless of color and you are a bitter person that needs to let go of what happened to the "slaves" NO MAN or WOMAN ALIVE today would condone such actions! you need to get on ur knees!

  • @SuniDays87 I had to! being raised "southern" I was taught that the "N" word was ok and that "black" people were bad but I was raised buy a woman who happened to be "black" and I sit on the side of my bed at times and cry my heart out cause I miss her like I would miss oxygen! You ARE THE RACIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ericdhall77 I was raised in the south too & I also had a colored woman as my Nanny for a # of yrs. I miss her even today 30+yrs later; hwr, if I had used the N word, I'd not been able to sit for a yr! The proper word used to describe a black person was "colored." It was never meant as a slight or racial slur. It was a proper term & one of respect for a person of color. It's difficult for me to even use African-American b/c most haven't ever been to Africa. They're Americans born in the USA.

  • @SuniDays87 Couldn't agree with you more.

  • @SuniDays87 Did Denzel Washington's movie John Q ever win or was nominated for an Oscar? If not, it should have won plenty b/c it shows how despite the "best medical care in the world," the bottom 98% of US citizens have healthcare worse than those in 3rd world countries. The CEOs milking tax $s don't have to worry about their med care yet the other 98% are sent home w/our loved ones to die. It's so wrong & so true of all races.

  • @SuniDays87 thats not true at all. Maybe it is because there are very few "black" serious films to choose from to be nominated. That is why. And not all winners are portrayed negatively....Whoopi Goldberg, Sidney Potier, Hattie McDaniel, Morgan Freeman, Jennifer Hudson.....so lets not get all black verse white, its really kinda ridiculous. People want there to be no discrimination, but with comments like this it doesnt help....just a thought.

  • @jerm1810 What are you talking about? Half of the people, if not all of the people you just named won their Oscars for portraying menial and subservient roles, as well as stereotypical ...so you just proved the point that I made in the 1st place . Thanks. =)

Oh, and "black vs. white" ...no dear just stating facts ...did I not? Oh, ok wake up and look around at the world you are living in sweetness.

"discrimination" ...are you sure you even know the meaning of that word?

  • すごく好きな映画です

God, this film was SO emotional... all the actors were amazing.

    It's simply classic.

  • the best movie ever made....ya,they better not do a remake,,,,dream girls was good but no more beyonce

  • The first time I watched this film especially the ending, I cried so much I was sobbing!!! It isa great film, one of my favourites it really touches the heart and soul!!!!! If you haven't seen it yet, What are you waiting for?????

  • @MsSavedsinner we were 3 guys and 1 lady watching this video. at the end we were like frozen. had anyone showed an emotion, i am shure we men had to start crying. this is simply a film who brings so much emotion. any person in this film has got its own problems, like it is in real live. i am glad this movie was made!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is the most beautiful part of this movie. They better never remake this movie, cause Beyonce could never do it justice. All this emotion and beauty was done by the best.

  • Love

  • Crying my eyes out right now.

  • @monicakcchiefs88 Oh, me too.

  • ooouuuh i cried so hard :)

  • Life has realy taken a bettin on Celie. It's one of the best movies with a HAPPY ending, (not that kind). True they better not remake this movie!

  • ABSOLUTELY PHENOMINAL! One of the BEST MOVIES EVER!

  • this movie was voted out of cannes and won NOTHING at the academy but out of africa did......bullshit.....THIS movie would wipe up ANY competitions. period......spielbergs best movie BY FAR!!

  • Well, it didn't, so get over it.
