  • @ lonlangfor1 - today would have been my son's 29th birthday. He died in a car accident 3 weeks later. This song comforts me every day of the year but especially today and on the anniversary of his death. My heart goes out to you for your loss. You may want to check out a website called Compassionate Friends (you can google it) They have a facebook page and all of the members are parents who have lost a child. It helps me. God Bless!

  • When did he hold this concert? Answer me please..

  • to lonlangfor1 know that if you beleive according to Revelation 21:4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away

  • To all the haters out there, just know there is a special place in Hell for you! I lost my 20 year old son suddenly and this song has provided me with so much comfort. Haters will never understand the heartbreak. To all of you out there who have lost a loved one - unite. We will NEVER FORGET the ones we lost!

  • @Theladyjane2458 I too lost my 17 year old beautiful daughter to an impaired driver & odd enough, this was one of her all time favorite song. I listened to it again & again after she died; thanking God for the promise that we will all be reunited in Heaven, where no, there are no more tears in Heaven. Thankfully all sorrow & mourning will flee away. As for the remark about haters having a special place in Hell; God says He doesn't want 1 person lost to hell, His love covers a multiple of sins!

  • @ cfvcfvcfvcfvcfvcfvcf FUCK YOU you have no soul this man lost his son and shared his soul and you ridiculed him for it, you are truely a piece of garbage and you will get yours 20x fold

  • thanks for this song....when the person closest to me lost his son, we held hands and held on to the faith that the Lord would bring him back to us with more blessings for all, and He did......with the most beautiful miracles in life..........Godbless, Jay.......

  • i feel for eric clpaton if i lost my son i could nt go on and have no reason to without him my heart realy his with him what pain to live with

  • ♥ECC♥

  • Who could be so heartless as to post a downthumb for this touching song?

  • Beautiful beautiful song love this performance. 2:41 until 2:46 OMG LOVE IT.

  • the pain in his face amplifies the pain in his voice. Beautiful tribute

  • Excellent song!!! thanks Mr. Clapton!

  • @cfvcfvcfvcfvcfvcfvcf

If you wouldnt mind........... Go Fuck Yourself !

    ( by the way ....... I Love My Fucking Bubble ! )

  • You can tell that everyone in that room knew and respected the work and passion Eric put into this song.

  • So incredibly moving. This video was made just after my beloved sister passed away and when my son was born. This song helps me to believe in God. "Oh Lord, help my unbelief!"

  • Jean Jacques Goldman on the rythm guitar! ^^

  • A beautiful song that reminds us to cherish what little time we have with our loved ones. No parent should have to outlive their child and I cry not only for Eric Clapton's and Lory Del Santo's loss of their son Conor, but for every parent that has had to know the pain of losing a child.

  • @SniperG407 Thank You! I am a mother who lost my beautiful daughter at age 17 due to an impaired driver. This was one of her favorite songs; which became my solace & comfort after her passing. Knowing the promise of being reunited in Heaven. There will be no more tears as all sorrow & mourning will flee away. My other child Jonathan was nearly killed the year following when shot in his back by gang-bangers after he refused to join their gang. I very much enjoy every moment w/him

  • Bless your kid ERic.. i hope it will be the same when u gonna meet him :D

  • Honestly, I prefer Eric Clapton than Slash

  • This song always makes me bubble. Which makes it fantastic.

  • Eric Clapton, very good, the greatest guitar man of the world.

  • I don't care about all these comments that only show hate. This beautiful song of someone that was grieving so much about his son came out when my father passed away and my feelings were the same. I only hoped the heaven was real and I could see my father again someday. Thanks Eric for this hope.

  • @maimercuri Agreed ! He's wonderfull !

  • eric's whole life < dis song

  • un clasico . y hermoso tema ..

  • Inferior? I think this is an absolutely beautiful arrangement, of such an emotionally charged song. While, I don't know the feeling of losing a child (we have 3)... because of my own health issues, both my parents (still living) will have to endure this reality.

  • i love all of Eric Clapton,His music Make your heart soar

  • such a sad song

  • This man is truly the BEST IN THE WORLD at what he does

  • This is a song that burrows into your heart . Thanks for the song. It can't replace a lost one , but this song gives comfort.

  • its crazy it hurts a lot i know how he feels i hope i see main in heaven too n reconize me if i make it there

  • the best song Eric ever written ,love it and always will

  • the six people who don't like this can go fuck themselves because this is one of the greatest performances of all time

  • @theheadshotking You right on about that.awesome Thank you

  • Respect!

  • ,I cry in pain when i hear a child has died but then i smile GOD knows why,, why because heaven wouldn't be heaven without young angels,, to ALL children that have passed to a happier place R.I.P

  • No comfort for his son falling to his death my heart ache for his pain

  • @ladyleatherneck1967 when his son died??

  • @HA0911lord on 20 March 1991

    Try Wiki.

  • @joygranted ah... so thats the reason behind wht this song was made?

  • for Michael A. Lewis.....RIP my first husband, who said that Eric Clapton was the guitar god. I love and miss you.

  • This is a Beautiful song...

  • @cfvcfvcfvcfvcfvcfvcf Theres bad things going on all around the world so shut the fuck up. A person can feel however they want about a song. YOU need to stop being a cunt and get real. Negativity is toxicity.

  • I miss her..

  • zbigniew holdys, trzymaj sie!

  • its the song is for my father i love you father...rip this in my heart forever

  • i got chills <3

  • Did i really hear right?

Was he gonna name this song Free Fallin? But found out the butt pirate Petty wrote the song

  • A great performer. A touching song by one of the all time greats

  • @Dragonraighn You need to calm your ass down.

  • I wish more people in my generation were as much of a badass as I am...I love Clapton, and I'm four years old.

  • @oopsyouredead27 No other reason than to act like your 'better' or 'higher' than others in your generation. I'm sick of people like you with your stupid elitist comments.

  • @oopsyouredead27 shut up dude. Everyone is sick of hearing these stupid elitist comments from people like you just because you listen to Clapton. It is so fucking arrogant to say something like that. I'm 14 and I like Clapton, Hendrix, bb king you know, the greats, but that doesn't mean someone can't like Justin bieber. Everyone is of their own mind and entitled to appreciate different music in different ways. You should try to embrace popular culture rather than smacking down for no other reas

  • @cfvcfvcfvcfvcfvcfvcf If i may speak on behalf of the poster: Fuck you, sir.

  • @CaptainDooDooButter that kids a fucking dumbass

  • @CaptainDooDooButter why cuz i speak the truth

that's the problem with some ppl they dont wanna hear the truth

they just wanna keep living in their bubble they wanna live in their make believe world

reality is ugly but you gotta face it

stop being a cunt and get real

  • why are there 4 dislikes on this clip!

  • already historic great performance. wonderful song.

  • This is beautiful. I wish more people my age could appreciate this, I'm 14

  • @mikebrown1156 really dude,if you have a stupid comment to make keep it to yourself.

  • @mikebrown1156 he fell from a 53rd floor

  • @mikebrown1156 wrong, he fell from the 53rd floor in nyc, you sir are not on point at all

  • Class Act.

    Beautiful Song.

    Legend.

  • 4 dislikes? nice try bieber..

  • "Slightly inferior" first take? Is there really anything that Clapton does that's inferior? This song is so touching...

  • @Cassattackred12 I have a dog named buddy I love him so much and I had a cat named trigger and that cat was my best friend I was 7 when he got hit by a car. And Every one had a pet that broke their hart so it's fine :)

  • its a wunderful song...

  • i didnt live when this song was made yet, but i know that it is one of the best songs ever, but it has one of the most horrible backstories, the death of your son. I ama big fan of hard rock, but this is easily one of my favorite songs ever. So beautiful

  • i sometimes feel this generation doesn't know what happened in our generation but they still like the music... Clapton transformed from a rock star in his youth to a father in the 90's and then his little boy fell off a balcony and died and he wrote this song. And to attackred12, no shame in ever in loving a dog, one of the noblest things any person can do.

  • recuerdo mis noches tristes en worcester ,MA,sin laspersonas mas amadas

  • que lindo es dios

  • Splendid unplugged version. I LOVE this song !

  • This is a very beautiful song...and Im sorry to hear about ur little boy 'CONOR'....he was the cutest thing...very sad!

  • Clapton is great, but the guy playing lead plays awfully in this song

  • This is the first time I heard "Tears In Heaven". This is the best I have ever heard Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to hear it. I, like Eric have lost a child around 1989 at 28 years old. This song is in my heart always. Happy New Years

  • regardless of the style/genre, etc he still plays better than everyone (well just as good at least lol),

A lot of the guitar great had mainly one style of playing that when you hear the song you can recognize whos playing even if hearing it for the first time which I actually prefer (dont like guys who try to play other styles and blow) but Clapton is one of few who can really pull of switching up your sound every few albums sometimes more. Wow that was way to long

  • @excalibur20012 Clapton was 40 when his son died

  • @excalibur20012 Seems weird, giving you a "thumbs up", considering your situation. But, I understand the reason behind doing it. I hope time and loved ones, have given you the support and healing, you must still need when thinking of your child.

    Bless you and yours.

  • Is that a Ramirez III or the Juan Alvarez classical he uses in the video?

  • He is so good live. Great singing voice.

  • is it me or does a lot of the youtube videos are out of sync recently?

  • I absolutely love how one of the greatest guitar players of all time looks like he's an accountant. xD

  • The star of the show is obviously the triangle player. EASILY the most imprtant part of this song is the triangle parts

  • When I hear this song, i get goosebumbs all over my body :)

If you have time, please watch my piano cover of this.

    /watch?v=9my2Y1fcupM

    Feedback appreciated :)

  • 4 idiots

  • สำหรับอีริคแล้ว อัลบั้มชุดนี้ ผมชอบที่สุดครับ.

  • awesome stuff clapton!

  • Fine legacy to leave behind.

  • 涙涙涙…

  • his voice is so beautiful...

  • beautiful song......

  • How can he sing this without breaking down? And how does he make the bass and the guitar sound as though it is crying like that?

  • what a multitude of talent such a meaningfull sad but upbeat tune

  • THERE but for YOURmyCreatorChristJESUS'+Grace go .i.

    (so far...)

    selAhMEN

  • Acaricia el alma con una navaja envenenada... Es una canción demasiado hermosa.

  • really really beautiful thanks for uploading this!!!

  • Mr. Clapton said to Jimi Hendrix, if it would not be a good idea for him, to join the 27th Club??

  • I do not know how he doesnt cry...id tear up the whole time

  • he is amazing guitarist :)

  • S e isso não é música , prefiro morrer com os meus 16 anos.

  • Played at my Father's funeral. This song connects us even today.

  • I played this at my sons funeral. Great song

  • all i want to do when i get to heaven is hug my brother at which his funeral this song was played ...

  • Okay, I know this probably seems really ridiculous. But I cry every time I hear this song, because of my dog Buddy, who died and I wasn't at his side. It's probably like "Get over it" but, my earliest memories were with that dog. When he was just a puppy. Every time I cried he would be there to make it better. And this probably seems insignificant to what others have lost. But that dog was...... everything to me. R.I.P Buddy <3

  • @Cassattackred12 My man (or lady), there is no shame in the feeling you have for your friend YOUR FRIEND. We, as a species, are SO arrogant - but I feel the love and devotion in the eyes of my four-legged friend each time I stare into his face. God bless these "animals" - the word even seems dirty to me....God bless these FRIENDS who stand by us despite all...

  • @Cassattackred12 if u wanna cry , cry for the innocent children that have been brutally killed in Iraq and Afghanistan

    not about a dog

  • @cfvcfvcfvcfvcfvcfvcf i too wil speak on his behalf, you are a dick head. you are very arogant. that was inconsiderate of you to say.

  • @cfvcfvcfvcfvcfvcfvcf dude i sorry you have never had a dog or something of that nature dude stop being a robot. you know how hard it must be for EC to sing that song

  • @Cassattackred12 its not ridiculous at all, nor is it insignificant. its sounds the same as what clapton lost. someone near and dear to him who shared his life in more ways than they understood. How a child comforts his/her parent when they cry or are sad. you lost a part of you that day and its perfectly understandable :) i dont know what i'd do when my shadw goes..

  • @Cassattackred12 I also cry, but because of my mother... Hi mom, I love you

  • best song hands down

  • awersome ...

  • aeeeeeeeee

  • Beautiful lick & riff.........

thanks so much for adding!! - awesome vid!!

  • Back in 2004, Eric stopped playing life of this song. The reason is plain simple. He got over those greatest grief.

    Time can heal all wounds.

  • this song is for his lost son

  • I grew up listening to this album and never new what this song was about tell a year ago and I now know why I loved this song so much and never understood why tell recently.

  • I remember the day when news of his son's falling came on TV. I was 14. It was a real sad day. God Bless his soul. Amen. This song was dedicated to his son.

  • muito bom

  • I know my Rusty would know my name if I saw him in heaven. So, I'm gonna be strong, and carry on, until I belong in heaven.

  • This song was played at both my Dad & Brothers funeral...it never fails make the tears fall :/

  • Comment removed

  • This is absolutely the best version of this song that could EVER exist. It could not be done better.

  • awsome! nothing else needed to say

  • when i herd this vid i was so so so sad i started to have tears

i am very very sarry. your song is so beatiful and i am 9 and i wish i can play like you.you are good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My cousin sent me a link to this song to dedicate to my grandfather who had a terminal illness a couple years back. This song won't remind me of how he passed away, rather how his memories would live on in me and he is listening to this in heaven and waiting for his grandkids like me to reunite with him in heaven.

  • @minh979 that brought a tear to my eye

  • THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR LOVE !!!

  • I remember when they played stuff like this on MTV

  • not only is this version amazing, it has amazing quality!

  • What a beautiful version !

  • i just want to write:

thank you for this. it's beautiful.

  • I just love the sound of that guitar, marvellous.

  • breaks my heart every time :| Dabbler smurf

  • good basss

  • I know this song is about Conor, but I can't help but think of my father when I listen to this song, Clapton was one of his favorite artists.

  • She saw it as beautiful on face value. Then it was explained to her the meaning of the lyrics. I don't know why, but she hated me more from that day forward.

  • the live version is so much better than the studio

  • @johnnocreativity It is - I don't like the studio version, or any other version. Unplugged version was first I heard.

  • @johnnocreativity

That's how it is with every Eric Clapton song.

  • @johnnocreativity

Just like the unplugged rendition of Leila, so much better then the old messy tune.

  • This song for my Baby Josiah Julian Peck,Born 1/2/2011 & Passed 4/1/2011 Due to SIDS. Mommy Loves You <3 <3

  • @TheJuliepeck omg...I am so sorry..I could not imagine what you are going through!! I cant have children so I hold a special place in my hearts for them and I cant imagine the pain you have endured..may god bless you!!
