@MrGnarus he got past because a distinguished indian or arab man vouched for him and they let him on the plane without a passport. There is video on youtube of one passenger who saw the kid getting past security thanks to the old man.

Abdulmutallah was being handled by someone in the US intel services. Someone in the gov't wanted him to get on that plane and light his shorts on fire. I can only guess what the motive was--but I suspect it was purely political. I think we can see that the operation worked.

News networks (left and right) are pushing for this idea that someone has to get fired just so they can have more gossip to talk about. You can't just fire anybody just because "heads should roll", using one of two individuals as scapegoats. What the gov should do is review this incident in depth and take more realistic actions once they really know what caused this failure in our system.

Homeland Security was formed supposedly to compile & prioritize all of the data coming in from the various intelligence & law enforcement agencies, and improve their communication with each other. Homeland Security failed in the underwear bomber case to assemble, process or act on the data. The father even pleaded with the CIA and State Department to take his son's threat serious. It wouldn't bother me at all to see Napolitano go, but then again I never really liked her selection anyway
