  • @jp3923,

Jerry died in 2008. He was 80 years old.

  • Could someone post "Thanks to you for loving me"? This was our favorite song for 35 wonderful years. Now they are both gone. Which album is it on!

  • Please post I'm gonna change everything by Jerry Wallace.

  • Classic song!

  • He sort of reminds me of Nat King Cole. Only country style , really pure voice.

  • @JP3923: Thank you for the kind words. No, I've never made music, except for singing in the shower and driving dogs crazy with my accordion lessons as a kid.

I was a disc jockey on and off for 39 years, and became a "chartologist" in the 1970s.

  • When I was in Jr High in the early 60's I sent away for a Country Music Album of County Hits and this song was on it. It has been one of my favorites ever since. Just recently got the karaoke version by Carl Smith. Thanks for putting this on youtube.

  • @hphdangerzone

My grandma had an album that sounds like it could be that same one! it had some good songs on it. wish I could get a hold of it.

  • This talented singer was largely ignored and today id virtually forgotten. I think he is just a footnote in the music history books.

  • Awesome! A classic!

  • Thanks for info on the chart placing mostliketa. I think the song is virtually unknown in the UK which is a shame because it's top notch in my opinion.

  • According to wikipedia, this version by Jerry Wallace hit #26 on the pop charts in 1961. Great song. Thanks for posting.

  • This is a good song

  • this is weird to listen to.

  • I like this old classic. Jerry does a great job with it. I first heard it by Webb Pierce and then by Carl Smith. It was also sung so well by Sissy Spacek as Loretta Lynn in the movie. Jerry has such a wonderful voice - so pleasant to listen to over and over. Thanks for posting. - Paula

  • Thanks for such an informative post Paula. I didn't realize the song had such a varied history. I must say I was surprised it never made the Country chart for Jerry although I'm sure it made the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

  • This song went to No. 3 in 1955 for Carl Smith and was just an album filler for Jerry Wallace. Patsy Cline did a cover titled There He Goes which was also an album filler for her.

  • @tarquin45 : As far as I can determine, Jerry Wallace's early records did not appear on the Country charts until "Shutters and Boards" crossed to Cashbox in 1962-63. He first made the Billboard Country list in 1965 with "Life's Gone and Slipped Away". Flashbell is incorrect regarding "There She Goes". It was released as a single and peaked at Billboard #26 in 1961.

  • @nickellodeon55 What an unbelieveable memory you have. Were you in the music

business? Jerry was very talented, and unfortunately passed away much too young......I think he was only 44 and suffered from a heart condition.

  • Jerry was a family friend and he used to take me to horse races at Santa Anita when I was a little girl. A wonderful person and great singer, we will all miss him very much.xxoo

  • A voice pure and good, they are all almost gone now. I would go back and do it all over again, the good far outweighed the bad, such great memories from the 50s & 60s. There will never be a place in time again like those days!

  • He will be missed

    God Bless him

    Rest in Peace

  • Great record by Jerry.

  • Good song but it is much better by Carl Smith. No matter I like it. Thanks
