  • Good thing they had the 4 wheeler so the perimedic could get to the scene fast to trete the paitent!

  • His friends were amazing. Until you've been in an emergency situation, you don't know how you will react. People who think they'd be fine might find that they panic or freeze. The fact that those kids were able to work together despite their fear is really commendable.

  • They said go get help and they ran! theres an ATV right there!

  • Can you upload the other segment from this episode "Boxcar Boy"?

  • This is why Scout leaders and the BSA stress First Aid in our units sooo much. You just don't know when you will face a situation which will require you to jump in and help some one else. BE PREPARED!

  • my last name is brazzeal!

  • amazing

  • I'm glad that I know that the first aid training I learned in babysitting and the CPR class i took could actually save someone!

  • wouldnt taking the quad get them there quicker?

  • Patrick is 31 and the others are in there 30s too.

  • dey had a freakin 4 wheeler right dere y would dey run for help when it would have been faster to get it on it nd ride out but no dey run right pass it

  • theres an episode where this old couple gets hit by 2 runaway boxcars

one of them doesnt make it

  • that happened to one of my friends!

  • Look at that one guy's sexy black jeans...

  • i fell from a tree once...i almost broke my back and i am 13

  • what the episode that a baby shotting himself with his father gun

  • i will never make a tree hosue...i'll just buy a playhouse from the store and hope my kids enjoy that

  • My name's Patrick too and like the Patrick in this, I'd hate to go through what happened to him. Thank god the poor dude didn't die!

  • Goodness That treehouse is very high. I don't know how anyone can get up there.

  • The poor dude who fell from that tree. NO kid should have to suffer that. My name's Patrick, BTW.

  • or the snow tube save where she is paralyzed

  • So sad :( but amazing

  • 3:06 use the atv!

  • Just because a tree house is high, doesn't make it more fun, or safe!

  • Oh thank GOD that I have a basic book on first aid! I better study this!

  • i love the happy endings on rescue 911,it inspires me:)

  • you shouldn't ever move someone who has a possible neck or spine injury.

  • @Lunaxthexicexmaiden You shouldn't move someone with a possible spine injury UNLESS the person's life is in immediate danger in the position they are in. In this case, Patrick couldn't breathe in the position he was in, so they had to move him.

  • well the guy wasn't breathing the kids said something like "normally you shouldn't move someone who's injured but he had stopped breathing" so they did what they should. If they hadn't done what they did the older guy would probably be dead!

  • yea your totally right to never move some1 but in patricks case he could breath so u had 2 move him

  • i love this show! but butane huffing is really sad

  • the worst think to do is panic

  • what awesome people they are

  • What do we Do????

    Call 911

This is why They need cell phones

  • except most cells wouldn't work where they are anyway.

  • Ha. exactly.

  • this was in like 1983 cell phones reception back then was horrible and not most ppl had them.

  • Did they have cell phones back in 1994???

  • @Animetobi Yes, but not very many people had them.

  • @allgood2000 so the kids would obviously didn't have them

  • @Animetobi ya with the intena thing were you had to flip your phone up

  • @Animetobi Yes, but they were very big and cumbersome, and very few people had them due to them being so cumbersome, and expensive.

  • @Animetobi yeah they were either like a "Zack Morris Phone" from Saved by the bell OR they were "Car Phones" that were in some ways similar to a military "Man-pack" radio, back in the 90's most people only had home phones and maybe a beeper.

  • @Animetobi also, cell phone coverage wasn't nearly as good as now. I doubt they would have been able to get a signal that far back in the woods.

  • Disbanded, not disbaned.

  • I loved this show. It's funny how they always seem hopeless and then they end up coming through...I wish there was a 'Rescue 911' when someone got killed or messed up really bad. William Shatner would be like"...the boy's legs were never able to be re-attached and, due to the extreme blood loss, he would never again regain conscienceness." Lol...

  • There are Rescue 911 segments where people get killed or messed up, there just aren't very many of them. A couple of examples of segments that don't end well:

Episode 109 - "Double Football Player"

Episode 228 - "Double Hero Down"

  • drewthomp, it's called *RESCUE* 911 for a reason!

  • @drewthomp I know of one episode where the 17 year old boy lost his leg, another where a guy was killed by a drunk driver and the lady survived, another where there was a runaway train car and a lady was killed and her husband lived, etc. But the lol? Nothing funny about any of that.

  • @drewthomp LMAO, there are some episode where he did say something along the lines of that!

  • price line investigator

  • An ATV might have been faster if they hadnt been in the woods with all the trees to navigate around. It would probably have taken longer to drive an ATV carefully enough to avoid smashing into trees than it would have to just run for help. Every second counts after all.

  • wright

  • what WHACK JOB lets their kid climb 40 feet up a tree to sit on some half-assed wooden beam like it's a frigging sofa? are their kids disposable to them? i think this accident served them right.

  • What the hell is wrong with you? The kid was just trying to build a cool place where him and his friends could hang out at. Accidents happen

Another example of this would be like you're hammering, and you miss the nail and hit your thumb.

Seriously man, they're kids, stop being a paranoid loon and let them have fun

I'm not saying that you shouldn't be protective, just don't be over protective

  • wait... why?

  • why didnt they take the for wheeler

  • HELLO THE ATV

  • It's just crazy to build a three house so high up, looks like they didn't use their brain this time

  • If the guy who fell is called Patrick.. Why did he say OMG PATRICK? So there was 2 guys called Patrick or is my brain dead right now?

  • it means omg patrick is hurt

  • good job, boys, you did great!

  • He's lucky he didn't fall from that height onto concrete.

I had a patient, a construction worker, who fell off a scaffold from 30 feet onto concrete. If he hadn't been wearing a hard hat, he wouldn't have made it, much less have been talking to us when we arrived on the scene.

  • why didnt they take the four wheeler to go get help

  • How come I've never seen a 911 episode that ended badly??

  • Because you haven't watched "Butane Huffing" from Episode 520, or "Oklahoma Cops Documentary" from Episode 413.

  • That one made me cry...

  • i dont understand what you mean!!!1

  • i am going to be more carfull next time i built a tree house

    :P

  • Incredible boy!

  • just a suggestion but u should download some air crash videos those would be cool 2

to methis vid is a 5 of 5

  • this happened to me last time to girl scout and fell off a tall tree and started bleading hard and almost died but lived it happened on january.

  • I can see their first aid training isn't too good.

  • The scout motto is Be Prepared and obviously they were prepared as they knew exactly what to do

  • Some BoyScouts can out perform a Basic EMT....they would pass the Practical Test!....so good job kids!!!!

  • o.O

You must have some hellacious boy scouts or some really really bad EMT-Bs.

  • They didn't teach us this in the Girl Scouts:( Our leader slapped her daughter across the face though.

  • i know, right?

  • Wow. Why?

  • that is dispicable! No leader should ever hit a girl!

  • they did in my girl scout troop.

  • I know. They should have though. If I become a Girl Scout leader that'll be a top priority.

  • This show is so awesome! I can't thank you enough for uploading these episodes.

  • OH MY GOD, PATRICK!

  • William Shatner

  • lol

  • i dono i would send one on four wheelers

  • My best friend's daughter fell from a jungle gym last year. She hit her head on one of the rungs on the way down and twisted her neck in such a way that it killed her. She was 7.

    That boy was definitely lucky.

  • aw thats sad RIP

  • the bit where they by said if hes pale lift the tail if hes red lift the head. that was real handy for me after watching it my friend had an accident i followed that rhyme and she is alive today.

  • they could have took the 4 wheeler its much faster

  • wow you can tell near the end when it said he was so in speach when patrick was talking he did sound really slow!

  • at 1:51 Oh My God Patrick

  • AHHHHHH scary

  • People shouldn't do dangerous things!

  • well sometimes people do the crazyiest things and some do the stupidiest things

  • I agree, but can we keep that a secret? Stupid people that do dangerous things keep me employed :P

  • boys will be boys.

  • i was in girl scouts and my brother was in boy scouts we both learned first aid while we were in it used it many times over the years and that was a four wheeler not a motorcycle and its hard to drive a four wheeler through the woods with all the trees to drive around so it was faster to run on foot

  • IS THAT WILLIAM SHATNER?

  • Yes:)

  • Thanks!

  • Why didnt they go to get help in the motorcycle they had??

  • yea it would of gone faster but they ran and how did the bike get back?

  • Trying to use this video for a Boy Scout First Aid Class, but it won't download to my computer. Any suggestions?

  • How did that guy even get the wood up the high to build it in the first place???

  • damn that tree house is high up!

  • You Can Say That Again. I Wouldn't Even Climb Up A Tree That High.

  • I know. some people are so crazy and bored. lol

  • Use the ladder next time. :D

  • The only reason why summer is the best time of year as a kid is because school is out. If school was out for any other season that season would be the best. I personally like winter the best and I always have, at least since I learned how to ski. :D

  • oh.. head-tilt, chin lift.. in trauma. Bad idea. If you're here to learn about first aid.. don't learn it from this video.

  • 10:17 I've seen that rescue worker before, on another segment, I think...

  • I have an (Ending only) Version of this segment.

  • This is kinda like pool electrocution #102 because there are teens here and they help their teenage friend.

  • When I get trainning to be a girl scout leader, I am going to need to practice cpr.

I want to teach a brownie troop to do this.

  • everybody says that scouters are lam, they are fucking heroes

  • Scouters have nothing to do with it. The will to help and the knowledge on how to do it right is all that is needed.

  • this is why boy scouts is a very good organization

  • Oh Noooooooooo!!!!!!

  • when the kids went for help why didn't they take the ATV?

  • You know, that is a very good point.

  • when they did that, i thought the same thing.

  • where did this happen? By lifting the feet, didn't they pose a risk of paralyzing him?

  • They took him by ambulance to a hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, so it probably happened in or near Jackson.

  • Yes they did. It would have been smarter to roll him on a board or something and lift his whole body up as one.

  • But then there's a problem with that: If they roll him over without something to keep his neck from moving, then he would probably be paralyzed.

  • No problem at all. The move is called a "log roll", you have someone holding C-Spine, and at least 2 people down the side of the patient on one side. They grab the opposite side of the patient and on the count of the person at the head, they roll the patient on their side, the board is slid in and on the count of the person on the head, the patient is rolled back down onto the board. This technique is used by all everyone from EMT-Basic to EMT-Paramedic.

  • I also learned this in First Responder class and life guarding.

  • Yes. However, in an emergency you need to use your best judgement and treat the most life threatening injury. For example, blood comes first. They were lifting his legs to prevent him from going into shock, which would kill him. Being paralyzed trumps being dead.

  • Airway First, unless they are bleeding severely. Stop severe bleeding as necessary. If they are breathing fine, take the time to address the bleeding. If they aren't breathing well, use compression or constriction; and address the breathing issue. A lack of emergency equipment is a challenge, b/c frankly if you're not breathing and I don't have a mask or barrier.. You're dead. But bleeding, use a shirt if you have to, wrap and tie.

  • Airway first always, don't matter if they are bleeding like a stuck pig. ABC's, Airway Breathing Circulation. Clear airway, get him breathing and then assess circulation, take care of that bleeding. Mouth to Mouth, I don't have a mask or barrier I will still give mouth to mouth. Yes there is stuff that I can get from not taking BSI precautions but a life is a life.

  • An airway will never matter, if your patient exsanguinates before your done. After there is so much blood loss, NOTHING.. can be done in an ambulance to save them. You can add saline, ringers, all you want.. Once the blood starts coming out pink, they're done. That's it. A lot of states are changing their EMS protocols to reflect that you MUST stop severe bleeding first, if you want the airway to make a difference. If bleeding will claim their life, it doesn't take long to apply a tourniquet.

  • Patrick is very very lucky he could have landed on his back or neck and broke either one even though he got a head injury he could have landed directly on the front or back of his head I think landing on his side sheiled him abit from a more serious injury

  • i dint remember thisone

  • and this is why boy scouts are so valuable, thats where i first learned first aid and it sparked my interest to become an EMT

  • theres a four wheeler right there. y in the world did they run. its not tht difficult to work one.lol..hmm. tht makes no since..

  • Maybe I'm just being stupid but when your friend is badly hurt and "time" is against you why the heck did they run back to get help when a fully working ATV was right next to them.

  • I KNOW!! I thought the exact same thing... I'm thinking maybe they didn't know how to work it, those two in particular.

  • Gol-ly, how'd you get that high?

  • Given that they were southern teenagers, that probably wasn't exactly how they phrased it when it really happened.

  • I really wish this show was still on tv!

  • i justed joined boyscouts about 2 to 3 months ago

They taught us about this where people panic and the victim dies so the told us be brave.

  • Rednecks are tough a nails that is why he survived

  • That guy wasn't a redneck, he was just southern.

  • THANK YOU- not everyone who lives in the south is a redneck! We're intelligent, and sophisticated, and while there are some out there who chose to prolong the redneck stereotype, I chose not too. I wanted a southern accent in high school so bad, and I perfected it. Now I can't get rid of the darn thing!

  • Yeah! I live in the south, I've been living in the south all my life...but I don't really think of myself of having an accent. XP

  • I made it to Eagle.

And last summer a man I was hiking with in the New Mexico desert, had a heart attack. Scout training saved his life.

  • That incident happened in the early 90's. Imagine if this had happened recently. Today's kids, instead of helping him, would probably just run for their video cameras and film it for Youtube.

  • amazing

im currently a life scout(1 rank off eagle)

    im 14

and every day im sure scouting saves a life

  • just want rescue 911 is awesome!!!!!!!!!

  • I wonder how many scouts go onto to become rescue or armed forces personnel

  • speaking as a volunteer firefighter and a disaster response team member for my county i can say that i'm suprised he lived after a fall like that

  • Gosh where the fuck was the kids parents? Who the hell lets their kid climb a fuckin TREE HOUSE thats 3 stories up? Jeez...i wonder if neglect charges were filed?

  • I doubt it. These kids were 13 and 14. I don't know of any parent that supervises kids that age playing outside. My parents let me build treehouses with my freinds unsupervised when I was 8.

  • Angel...are you stupid?

  • As a side note, I wonder if anyone has every had to get hurt to perform a re-enactment satisfactorily.

I hope not, but these falls (girl who falls from the hotel balcony while scaling down, Patrick falling from the tree) look extremely real when they are supposed to be feigned

  • Was it a dummy of Patrick that hit the ground being that this is a re-enactment?

At 1:56 when he hits, it sounds like it could be a dummy..

  • I think it was a stunt person landing on a leaf-covered matress. The way his arm moved when he hit made it look like a real person. The stunt person probably only fell three or four feet, though.

  • the animated fire engine seems oversized for the opening of this segment.

  • I was in scouts from 2nd grade till 8th grade. Got up to the rank 1st class. 1.Trustworthy 2.Loyal 3.Helpfull 4.Friendly 5.Courteous 6.Kind 7.Obediant 8.Cheerfull 9.Thrifty 10.Brave 11.Clean 12.Reverent
  • Glad to say I made it to Eagle

  • I quit after 1st class- I was in scouts for too long already and got tired of it.

  • I was a Scout too and somehow I still remember those 12 points of the Scout law.

Unfortunately, one of our scoutmasters died last year. The troop no longer exists as it disbaned a few years ago

  • they showed the boys doing the girl scout sign (3 fingers)! The boy scouts is 2 fingers!

  • why talk such bull shit. the scout salute has always been three fingers.

  • i want this show to come back so bad! even tho i never saw it on tv in early 90's cuz i was born in 91 lol

itd be great to see it id watch everyone

  • me to, I'm like one big fan of this great show

  • Riding on a ATV with no shirt... Man, you catch one of those thorny branches... ouch.

  • I was in the Boy Scouts too, as I was 13 in 1993. Somehow I still remember the 12 points of the scout law.

  • Correction, I was 14, not 13.

  • been so many years since I've seen these one. Thank you for posting! I greatly appreciate your efforts on posting segments not already youtube

  • me too

  • I'm glad you put up this segment. I haven't seen it in years. It's too bad Discovery Health Channel or Hallmark channel (a.k.a. Odyessey Channel) didn't air this segment.
