this is by far my favorite song from the love from my lips collection....for those that don't know what that is....its a series of three cds made by fans and passed around the patty griffin community. I would give anything to see her do this live...knowing it'll never happen..but i can wish right.

Every song so far that I've heard of hers is wonderful. Even this song. I can understand why she doesn't sing it now, as it is a little elementary musically, but it is still a great song lyrically. She should perform it once in a while. I do think she is a great song writer. I am new to her material so it's like I am peeling off the petals of a very lush flower.

I am only speculating but if the song seems very personal and if she's passed whatever she was struggling with when she wrote the song, it would make sense for her not to perform it anymore. It IS a tremendous song but sometimes songwriters just move past their songs emotionally...

Hey - I just came across this...and I am so glad everyone loves this gorgeous Patty song. Just wanted to clarfify - Patty did not sell "Love From My Lips" at gigs. And this song was never released in any form to the public. Probably not a big thing, but there you have it. John (the guy who created the LFML collection)

Not meaning to be picky, but "pretty" doesn't really say it, for me. "Beautiful" and "force of nature" work better.

One recent pleasure has been to introduce some friends to Patty (live)- "yeah, sure, there he goes again." Then, almost dumbstruck silence.

Ive had the same pleasure - I fell over Patty's music quite by accident and am completly hooked. She doesn't get to Canada much and I was lucky enough to see her this past June with 3 Girls & Buddy tour. Seems like she breaks my heart everytime she sings.
