In Golden Axe Warrior, you're the prince of a separate kingdom, not Axe Battler. You actually meet Axe Battler later and learn Earth Magic from him. You also meet Tyris for Fire, and Gillius for Thunder.
Back in the day, Golden Axe wasn't about the beasts; it was about fighting alongside your friends and family to see who could kick the most ass and steal the most magic potions from the elves.
This game is so "improved" from the previous ones that it loses that nostalgic feeling. Why only one character to choose from instead of 3 (or more)? Why use beasts as a GIMMICK? Who's that woman supposed to be? I don't recognize her.
If they removed "Golden Axe" from the title, would it even matter?
When I heard about the "new Golden Axe" game, I was stoked. And then it came out, I played it, and meh, it's an alright game, but it just isn't Golden Axe. It's just a game where a half-naked chick rides monsters to kill bad guys in absurdly gory ways.
And if the beasts? They're not very important either. If they just called it "Half-Naked Chick Killing Bad Guys in Absurdly Gory Ways", that would have been more fitting than "Golden Axe: Beast Rider".
you're absolutely right.Why haven't they got the guts to release an expanded 2d version of the original!? I would buy it, I'm sure a lot of other guys would buy it as well.

2. If you are such a Golden Axe franchise fan, you'd know that there were about two other single player only games in the franchise: Golden Axe Warrior, on the Sega master System, and Axe Battler: A Legend of Golden Axe for the Game Gear. Both starred Axe Battler, from the original arcade games. Warrior was basically Sega's version of the original Legend of Zelda, and Axe Battler like their version of Zelda II for NES.

Also, I'm not a HUGE Golden Axe fan; I owned the first one for the Genesis and have played the second one before. Sorry if I came across like a Golden Axe know-it-all.
Hey, no problems on this side. I know what you were getting at though. Tyris doesn't look like Tyris until you unlock one of the costumes for her (her original Golden Axe costume). The second point I made was just because I tire of people saying the series was always multplayer and single player is a mistake. I like the multiplayer games more, mind you...but those single player games were pretty good too. This one isn't all that bad. Not great, just okay. A 6 or 7 out of 10 at the most.

No, it wouldn't really.
