Ronald Reagan was the biggest Socialist america ever knew!!! He had the biggest Wall Street cabinet America ever seen! Casper Weinbring, George Schultz, Don Deagan... Get John Perkins book Confessions of an economic hitman!!!!!You can read about how nice a guy Reagan was. His wack policies led us to this point!
Moore gets the economic story right. How is it that Moore's father could buy a house and raise a family on the income of one auto worker, and have a pension for his retirement? This is not possible today? The answer is not complicated: in the first half of the post-War era, employees shared in the gains from productivity growth; since 1973, most of them have hardly done so at all. Reagan's roll back of labour relations brought about the most massive upward redistribution of income in US history
@Marly61 people can't afford a house on 1 income anymore cuz of the welware state and cost of living.... i live in canada and almost every household has both parents working....our taxes are throught the roof because of gov't programs and the welfare state....the 1950's the best time in america...and then the hippies and drug culture and lack of work ethic changed all that....60's and 70's were totally different..... look around any european country and see if they have 1 income families...????
@quincee33 The welfare state? I doubt if you even realize who gets the most welfare. Taxes are a great thing when the are properly used to support average peoples lives and not imperialism as in the US's attack against Iraq and were most of the welfare in the US goes to the rich. If taxes in the US were used properly they should be much higher. I moved to France to get away from some of the immorality in the USA. Standards of living in europe are higher in europe according to many sources.
@Marly61 u guys have homes for sale that are $200,000 or let's say $400,000.....come to Canada where a house costs $600,000 - $800,000...and a cheap starter home runs you about $350,000......i would say buying a house in the U.S. is easier than here in Canada.
@quincee33 How cant people afford a house because of the welfare state? Taxes? No. It is because their is no democracy in the USA. If the people of the USA revolted and forced taxes to be used to support themselves then they could easily afford that house. The problem is elite control of the USA's resources not govt or taxes.
through the end of the last business cycle (2002-2007) two-thirds of the income gains during these years went to the top one percent of the income distribution. This brought the income share of the top one percent to its highest level since 1928. The bottom 90 percent got only about 12 percent of the income gains. This continued and accelerated a trend that began in the mid 1970s when the top 1 percent captured 45 percent of all income gains (as compared to just 11 percent in the 1960s).
Great clip! Supporting role by old Cowboy Raygun.
