  • Ergo, please make more. This is far better than anything on the Science (oooooAncient Aliens 2012, Things not actual Science) Channel. :)

  • I love your videos with passion.

  • Love your videos ,but its wrong to say without copper there wud be no Electricity. There are other conductors like aluminium etc. Less efficient but they can do the job

  • Your kid is going to be pissed off that you trashed their trumpet...

  • you forgot one more property of copper, it is also antibacterial!!!!!

  • This makes me regret not going to UIUC when I had the chance o-o Damn T_T

  • They actually billed you for the water usage? What is our education system going to? Greedy bastards.

  • he did not just dump the trumpet in water !

  • Ceiling cat strikes again! Great videos Mr. Hammack.

  • Gold

  • Make me remember Mr Wizard's World

  • does anyone know of a material that conducts heat well, but insulates electricity? or vice versa?

  • @Exarian Yes, Diamond. More thermally conductive than copper (about 4x so I think) and doesn't conduct electricity. Not sure about the other way around though, I can't think of any off the top of my head.

  • Anyone notice the water going backwards at 2:40 ???

  • Without copper we wouldn't have coppers enforcing our laws.

  • youi forgot to mention that copper has anti-biotic properties

  • Having been in my first house for 2 years now... I can attest to the fact that our world would not work without copper.... though in the plumbing department, pex seems to be giving copper a run for it's money (yeah... I used that phrase on purpose, I don't want to know how much money I've spent on copper between the plumbing and the re-wiring of our kitchen alone.)

Pex seems to really be the way to go because it's so much cheaper... do you foresee any issues with pex?

  • i hear that copper is shaped easily

  • you must be good friends with your mechanic xD

  • damn, now im thursty.

  • Silver conducts well too right?

  • @quangpod Better than copper actually, but it's much more rare and expensive to be used in an industrial scale like copper is

  • @LittleBison thanks

  • Sooperb! Simple and to the point explanation of copper! And good pairing of copper with coffee - I cannot live without them!

Cheers from a fellow YouTuber geek!

  • That's not a trumpet, that's a cornet

  • Why can't he be my professor? Please?

  • @MrZeus7 go to the universtiy of illinois man hahaha XD

  • this guy would be great as the new bill nye. I know watching science shows on pbs is what drove me to always take an interest in science and thats why I' m a chemical engineer.

  • @tomdamho couldnt agree more. The world needs another bill nye, badly.

  • @tomdamho Nye to Hammack? Works for me!

  • you forgot the last use of copper,

without copper, you wouldnt make a good video explaining something isnt exist

  • hes pretty cute

  • for some reason, when I cut myself with copper piping, it always seems to take a little longer to heal than a regular cut... I'm an HVAC mechanic and I work with copper everyday. Could it be that there's something in the copper that slightly interferes with the healing process? Just thinking out loud here =P

  • Isn't copper an anti-bacterial material as well? In other words, bacteria can not grow on the surface of it for some odd reason?

  • @SpecialtyLEDSonline

In this case it isn't neccesary. Many municipalities sanitize our water using an oxidant like chlorine or an ozonation process

  • Unfortunately copper is not inert to water.. An article from "The Telegraph" titled

"Copper pipes could cause heart disease and Alzheimer's" states

copper and iron leeches into drinking water and making metal toxicity likely in individuals over 50 "in which these metals stop contributing to reproductive health".

  • @khoham well, copper is better than lead, which is what the romans used.

  • @khoham - Aren't most materials "not inert to water"- even plastic and it's BGA's or whatever they call them are said to cause cancer now.

  • @SpecialtyLEDSonline

many plastics don't contain bpa,but unfortunately many do. Bisphenol a closely resembles estrogen and disrupts the proper function of the endocrine system.

perfumes may have the same effect on the body. Many aeromatic compounds found in perfume/spray air fresheners are derivitives of benzene.

tobacco may be doubly harmful due to these estrogenic compounds. If you ever listened to a birth control pill commercial it mentions smoking will increase the risk of developing clots

  • @khoham A pipe is not supposed to contribute to reproductive health. So it's alright if it stops!

And who cares, I have lead pipes and we're all fine!

  • hehehehehehehehe you make me chuckle and smarter at the same time. XD
