RE: video description. Whilst I do agree with you in every other aspect, I think it's an overstatement, to put it mildly, that the Khmer Rouge was backed by the Americans. They certainly benefited from the chaos that ensued in the aftermath of Nixon's secret bombings of Cambodia, but there's absolutely no evidence to suggest that they planned it. KR was simply an aberration of thus far accumulated communist teachings and experiences which the Vietnamese, after being attacked, dealt with swiftly.
@MaoistLeninistMarx kinda reminds you of when eastern europe threw off the shackles those dirty little regimes. tearing down those wretched ugly statues of marx, lennin, and stalin. I here that in budapest they actually made a park to put all those shit-stain useless rubbled statues as sort of a local inside joke
and just think, the slaughter that happened when north vietnamese invaded the above city pales in comparison to what happened in Phnom Penh(good ol' Pol Pot marxism for ya)
@1classicliberal and those "people" are now suffering and regretting the end of Socialism in there countries in eastern Europe and Russia and Central Asia.
dont be a fool, the communists of eastern europe have been obstructing ever since, not to mention that it will take generations to repair the damage done by those reimes. indeed to maleducation of those youths may be impossible to be undone.
only the trully ignorant believe the lies that they were better off under communism(those who lived it will testify to that)
the big ugly bear is flexing its muscles and causing massive turmoil in eastern europe... AGAIN!!
@MaoistLeninistMarx a free Republic is THE MOST demanding form of government as it comes to the responsibility of the average man, they must be knowegeable and morally sensible. if they shirk the hard decisions it will fail. but, when done properly it is the most stable, prosperous form of government known to man.
when you have foreign giants like the dirty russians constantly undermining the reconstruction of your country it makes it much more difficult
@MaoistLeninistMarx and as for those south east asian countries like, well lets just take all of endochina for instance. they are being squeezed by the chinese navy, as are most of the countries of the south pacific
I'm sure tibet feels alot better under the iron boot of china
@1classicliberal Tibet is much better off now than it was before it was part of the PRC. BEFORE, there was feudalism; now there is Socialism. Before 95% of the population were serfs, and in Tibet you were born and die a Serf there was no leeway. So yes Tibet is happy to be free now and united with her Chinese sisters.
@MaoistLeninistMarx ya know you're right, my bad. big brother had it right freedom IS slavery
NO to tosspot. it is one thing to be better off by your own choosing, but when policy (WHICHYOU KNOW WILL HARM YOU!) is FORCED on you by an invading army whose intention is to deprive you of your national identity and turn you into a communist slave, you tend not to prefer it.
@MaoistLeninistMarx and YES the magnificent opportunities opened up by being part of shit-hole communist china. at least when you were Tibet you got to live your life as a tibetan, religiously morally culturally. so instead of being able to live your live as a 3rd world serf as a TIBETAN, you are FORCED to deny who you are and become a starving rural chinese peasant. oh the joy
@MaoistLeninistMarx your logic would be to say to somebody suffering under polish communism "its better than it was under the Nazis"
because that supposes that this individual should enjoy life under the soviet cloak because they were trying to exterminate you as outrightly as the Nazis had.
but to the Poles the enemy's goal was just the same. to DESTROY Polish CULTURE, and enslave the population
the goal of the Chinese in Tibet is to DESTROY their CULTURE and enslave the population
@MaoistLeninistMarx yes I'm SURE Russians want to go back to the good ol' days of soviet communism, back when you had to talk to your spouse in the bathroom because you thought the KGB probably wouldnt put a bug there.
though I cant say that life under the iron boot of the former head of the KGB can be very pleasant, but that life under socialist corporatism for ya.
HA! I met a vietnamese expat that paints a VERY different picture from the rosy propaganda above. the above video seems the leave out the good ol' communist 'cleaning house' (aka mass slaghters)
PS.just to remind everybody. the COWARDLY north vietnamese re-invaded south vietnam after they had signed peace treaties with the US and south vietnam and the US forces were gone.
PPS.the US did NOT back Pol Pot, as he 1. was a Marxist dictator and 2. he overthrew the prior american-backed government
This really represent what the will of the people can achieve!
First they fought of the french colonial power and next they fought of an incoming wave of capitalist invaders. Its has been only by the people that you can achieve these goals!
May the date 1975 30 April always remind us what fight our fellow comrades fought!
All salutes from a socialist who has not forgotten anything of this!
@ProgressiveThinker90 You're right, i was being stupid. I know we had too much agression in this time period, but Communists have no room to talk. 1950 invasion of soveirgn south korea, they also intervened in vietnam to help the VC and NVA. Not to mention the recent invasion of Georgia. Also the 1979 invasion of Afghanistan, which they withdrew (lost) in 1989. America is about to withdraw after about the same time span. Lets face it, the cold war was a time of agression on BOTH SIDES.
@ZhouEnlaiCCP Yes they certainly were. That's like saying North and South Dakota aren't really two different states, just divided. They each had their own form of government, economy, military, etc. They were by all definitions of the term, different countries.
The Americans were allies with South Vietnam, and weren't involved until after North Vietnamese communist guerilla fighters continued mounting attacks in South Vietnam.
@quarterxchange America did not represent their presence in Vietnam until they realized that the brave people of Vietnam could seriously introduce communism to the country
I assume that you think about Viet Cong, Viet Cong were South Vietnamese communists. They participated in a very important way for the liberation of Soutj Vietnam
@ZhouEnlaiCCP Communism should not be allowed to be voted on anymore than robbery or murder and the U.S was supplying and training ARVN since Kennedy took office
I was in fact thinking about the NVA, seeing that the VC were virrtually annihilated after the Tet Offensive.
So America only wants to protect democracies in the "free" world?
Like when they overthrew the democratically elected prime minster of Iran in 1953?
Like when they assassinated the democratically elected President of Chile, Salvador Allende and supported the military dictatorship of General Pinochet?
@Cookaloka You're repeating all this bullshit your parents tought you about the US. I have nothing against communism, only that it is an enemy of America. America has flaws, so does every country, but America is the only country that can restabalize after a disaster (9/11, Pearl Harbor) and defeat the enemy and finish the task at hand. You do not see us in wars that have no purpose, and all we wish to do is keep the peace.
America is not an imperialist nation. We do not wish to conquer the world, as we only intervene when our nation's leaders feel that there is a crisis to the stable democratic system throughout the free world
diot, United States signed the Paris peace declaration, which was an armistice between South and North Vietnam. And as North Vietnam broke and attacked South Vietnam during the armistice. What cowards. U.S. did not lose the war, South Vietnam did
@ZhongguoQianjin I bet you have no FUCKING clue what happened on june the 3rd do you? what did the regime tell you? industrial accident? though seeing as you have a bloody computer I doubt that you aren't a little princeling!
@AnarchyFTW100 The statue was a tribute to the South Vietnamese and U.S militaries lol; it was toppled soon after Saigon was liberated. What a great moment for the Vietnamese people, who had finally secured the stunning defeat of colonialism and imperialism in Indochina.
@wnxsilence ye i suspected it is something like that lol. pompous americans always build enormous statues and embassies in every country they conquer to let people know who is thier new master. i hope in iraq people will also destroy disgusting american symbols of greed and imperialism!
A glorious time for the strong fighting people of Vietnam!
In Vietnam, advance firepower and technology went head to head with human will.... and human will won!!
Let the Vietnamese people's victory against imperialism continue to shine as a great example to the rest of the worlds people, of the power of human will and socialist struggle!!
Thanks for the vid comrade! Happy May day from Québec!
When you think about it, it's quite a coincidence that the victory of the revolution in Viet-Nam took place 30 years day for day after the raising of the soviet flag on the Reichstag.
