But in December 2008, after winning the election but before taking office, Obama took a serious question on the subject and ridiculed the idea that his Administration would change that. The next day began the current Mexican Civil War, and since that day, 1,000 people per month have been killed in that Civil War over drug turf, fought with American weapons purchased just North of the Border.
