  • This is Fiddlesticks!

  • THIRD PERSON

    CONDOM

  • This is one of the best scenes to NOT make it in the movie. Don't know why it was cut! :-(

  • @CarpWoody40 This scene was cut due to tome restrictions. They thought the movie was running too long so they had to cut this scene.

  • 2:49 w dupe!

  • cutest scene!

  • 1:07 Fiddlesticks!

  • Oh hey look at this..occupy Wall Street's theme song.

  • Imagine being able to work with Judy Garland. I would never go home :)

  • There was supposed to be a small romance between Dorothy and the farmhand (Scarecrow) but it was never filmed.

  • Fiddlesticks.

  • Whoa, never saw THAT berfore

  • 1:30=EVERYDAY IM SCARECROWIN

  • 2:12 Crouching Tiger Hidden Scarecrow.

  • Oh so that's how mr Andrew Lloyd Webber gets the last bit of if I only had a brain from :) x

  • Just the shot to get the live crow to pick up the bunch of straw that fell out of the Scarecrow took a great deal of time, and all for nothing because it got cut.

And yes, that's an actual crow in that shot, unlike the following ones where a fake crow is flying in circles.

I like the Scarecrow being able to "fly" (actually, he's just supposed to be jumping), but showing the sequence of him bouncing off the fence in reverse is stupid and tiresome.

  • @hebneh I agree, the shot of the crow must have taken a long time! It's all great except where they run it backwards. It's indeed too much and borders on silly.

  • Awe -some .. They decided it would blow too many minds too soon. - I , frankly, agree, and can't continue.

  • I think they should put in back in the movie because how long is too long?

  • @navyblue10987654321 well the lord of the ring movies are 6 hours long.........

  • I love the Wizard of Oz.

  • Scarecrow is awesome :) He was and still is my favorite character :)

  • Respond to this video... 7 people do not have a brain.

  • he said worthy of you if you read up on this in the special adition dvd it explains why they deleted this part of the scarecrows dance ray had a crush on judy and that was basically his way of proposing to her. they thought that was inappropriate so they deleted it i hope that clears up thing.

  • @zelrash - Not true...Bolger was married to his wife for 58 years (up until he passed away in 1987), and considering Garland was only 16 at the time, I doubt he had any kind of romantic interest in her...the dance was deleted solely for reasons of time, since the rough cut of the film was nearly 2 hours, and even "important" pictures rarely ran longer than 90 min in 1939.

  • CROW!!!!!!!

  • too much

  • It's "worthy of ya" there's no "hand". Clean ya ears peeps

  • I didn't know that the scarecrow had jedi powers..Also how would the scarecrow know about lincoln?

  • No one but Ray Bolger could have been the Scarecrow!

  • some of it is deleted like the part with the crow, the part where toto rolls the pumpkin into the scarecrow and a few other parts

  • wow, i watched this video like hundred times (using music from deleted part for dance in a show) and this is the first time i saw that deleted was misspelled :P:P:P

  • this aint delete scene!

  • pause a 0:38 :s

  • @blackbeltgirl15 Why, may I ask?

  • "thats why I'll try defying gravity ..."

    oops, wrong character, wrong musical.

  • I wish they had left this in the movie

  • Weird... I can't stop thinking that this sequence was once aired.

  • @etzel33 It was included in the documentary That's Dancing.

  • 2:14 Neo the Scarecrow

  • look at my version of There There

Search: Radiohead - There There - Synchronized with Wizard of Oz (HD)

  • how is this raciest?

  • thumbs up if you pity the morons that think the dance is raciest

  • Thats such a racist dance, Im quite sure its an Indian-American dance or something...He says near the beginning after he leans back he says "Ill be scratchin' my balls until they start hatcin'"

  • @ThinkLikeCat lol He says "and my head I'd be scratchin while my thoughts were busy hatchin" but your take is much funnier lol

  • Thats such a racist dance, Im quite sure its an Indian-American dance or something....

  • he learnty all that dance for nothing

  • I love Toto.

  • lol This is significantly more ridiculous than what was left in the movie.

  • Who knew Scarecrows could fly! I did like this though....

  • holy shit! he fuckin' flew!

  • 'your hand in marriage' is the reference. this is so old as to be forgotten.

  • @leopardsleaping and possibly a remaining reference to a discarded plot line in the movie - hunk and dorothy are in love, hence their close relationship on the journey and her closing remark "I think i'll miss you most of all"

  • im glad they took this out of the movie its just to much

  • Now that's dancing!!!

  • All right, already! So I made a mistake? Don't we all now and again?

  • if i only had a brain......... :D

  • wiosh all fenches were as stretchy as that LOL

so funny when he shook his fist at the bird

  • Great seen never new how much time and fillm was shot to come out with such a perfecty movie

  • Fun to watch, a very well done number, but one can see why they used a shorter version. Sometimes, less is more!

  • This was cut after the change of director, from Richard Thorpe, it had been shot by Busby Berkely as second unit, and the film being over budget, L B Meyer ordered shots to be pruned to finish the film on time, as Meyer thought the film was not going to return it's costs, which it did not at first, it was a failure at the box office, but careful re-release revived interest, and it went on to classic status.

  • "Crouching Tiger Hidden Wizard" I can see why it was cut

  • how did you get this scene if it was delelted? i thought this would be long gone by now

  • GrovyleFan, seems like they maybe were setting up a sequel if that was the case!

  • damn this was the best ,,

  • I never knew they deleted this.... I've seen this before in the movie... ? o.o But if they deleted it that sucks :(

  • This was one reason why Ray Bolger was the Scarecrow and not the Tinman (which is what he was originally cast for). He wanted more energetic dance scenes. Ironic that this was cut..

  • I love it

I wish it to be on the original film :D

  • That's so awesome!!!

  • @Sazinata random..

  • Wouldn't he rather have a big dick?

  • When Warner Bros. brought Oz back to theaters back in 98, they actually thought about re-editing the dance back into the movie, but changed their minds, figuring that doing so would be tampering w/a classic.

  • Haters gonna hate at 1:32

  • Psychiatry is genocide. Pink Floyd The Wall zsezse com

  • god i only think of feyero in this lol

  • Best dance scene on the silver screen!!!

  • woah

  • this was not deleted i own the origanal movie and its there

  • @TheCherrybomb101girl I own a vhs version of this movie and a special edition dvd.... this is definitly a deleted scene..... They only have half of this performance in the movie.

  • @TheCherrybomb101girl it was cut but only the part within the scene (if that makes sense) The early and last part are intact but the middle section was removed but can be found on the dvd on I think, extras.

  • I think it was because it was a little to fantastic. I know that's stupid in the context of this film -- but they are stupid.

  • What do you mean by "deleted scene"? Last time I watched this one on a DVD, this song was in the movie...

  • @subseeker This whole performance is not on the movie, only half of it made the cut. that's why it's titled delted scene.

  • @noniuice O-kay :-) It just looker so fumiliar and I remembered the whole scene was in the actual movie, but I guess I was wrong --> thanks for correcting my mistake! :-) A very nice scene, those were THE days!.

  • @subseeker :-) They were!

  • If he had a Brain he could run for president

  • @Rollman1 - Actually, judging by most politicians, he could run for Prez w/o a brain! :-D

  • @WhatsAYak ... that's funny because today i was thinking that it at least be mandatory for them to be smarter than a 5th grader....

  • Damn! He's good!!

  • verry funny.

  • great scene cant belive cut!

  • They did a good job at hiding the cables lifting him!

  • They did a good job at hiding the cables liftinghim!

  • should have keep this in the movie

  • Shame this is the only surviving deleted scene from the film.

  • This is my favorite dance. I've gone and watched it on my old DVD copy many times.

  • @0:33 Dorthy's hair it hanging short, but @ 3:44 her hair is hanging much longer.

  • Yeah, I guess.

  • 3:35 to 3:40. Did I hear him right? "Then perhaps I'll deserve your hand."? Did the Scarecrow mean what I thought he meant? *wink wink*

  • @GrovyleFan1995

You mean like, the scarecrow ask Dorothy's hand in marriage?

    Please reply back.

  • @GrovyleFan1995 - LOL...but the line's actually "Then perhaps I'll deserve you/And be even worthy of you".

  • @GrovyleFan1995 then perhaps ill deserve YA AND be even worthy of ya

  • @GrovyleFan1995 no he sings: "then perhaps I'll deserve ya, and be even worthy of ya."

  • @poeseloetje

Shut up and stop correcting his grammar.

  • @AmberlovesGreg17 who do you think you are telling me to shut up? Everyone's correcting him because he's WRONG...durrr...get a life and leave me out of your frustrations of life.

  • @poeseloetje

    shutup

  • @GrovyleFan1995 Then perhaps I'll deserve 'YA' he says.

Though your right actually. In the original script there was a subplot where Dorothy and Hunk(the Scarecrow guy in our world)were supposed to hook up in the end and it would have shown that being why Dorothy always favored him over the other two. That ending got dropped unfortunately but still bits of the Scarecrow/Dorothy thing remain.

  • even as a kid i always thought why did she over praise him in the movie.. he didnt really do any dancing... but then i saw this and though ahhh that fits much better. I thought it was fake at first lol

  • I've seen The Wizard of Oz as least 30 times and this scene maybe at one time was deleted, but not since I can remember. Why does it say deleted???? It may have been edited, but the Scarcrow and his dancing is the 1st thing Dorothy encounters after leaving Munchkin Land. I don't remember him going up on the pumpkin or going through the fence or the reverse dancing. I believe it was edited out.

  • Is it because I'm too obesessed with Wicked that I go aww when he mentions his heart's all full of pain and that he'd be worthy of 'you' (Elphie in my mind) if he had a brain?

  • read from the bottem one-

thoutshaltnot if i only were a goth XD

  • I'd pretend to be a vampire Like in stories 'round the campfire I'd suck your bloody froth Yes the thing I'd be best at Is impersonating Lestat If I only were a Goth In my casket purse I'm toutin' Einsturzende Neubauten And pagan hymns to Thoth Yes the world would be depressing Over death I'd be obsessing And this corpse that I'm undressing Would be sexier, I'm guessing With my diet I'd get scurvy And I'd worship Peter Murphy If I only were a Goth
  • I'd be thinner, I'd be taller Go clubbing in my collar With skin pale as a moth Dressed in black, I'd go creepin' While the normal folk are sleepin' If I only were a Goth With my hair up, I'd look fancy Like Siouxsie and the Banshees With silk or velvet cloth Dressed in boots, never sandals And the room would be lit with candles If I only were a Goth Yes I'd wanna die From the bottom of my heart impure Would I like another clove? Well, sure And after that, we'll go listen to The Cure
  • Because studio executives didn't want to film to last more than 100 minutes, 'pegcage'. Several other sequences were deleted- "The Jitterbug", of which the soundtrack exists and the ONLY visual images from the number exist in Harold Arlen's "home movies" taken during the production; and a reprise of "Ding Dong the Witch Is Dead", as Dorothy returned to the Emerald City after "killing" the Witch (soundtrack only). Bert Lahr's "If I Were King Of the Forest" was also trimmed a bit...

  • This would have been one of the best scenes in the movie. Who was the genius who cut this out of the movie?

  • At 1:00-- He sings "I would dance and be merry, life would be a dingleberry, If I only had a brain"

  • I've read Warner Brothers had planned to put the Deleted Scene back in the 1998 re-release of the film, but it was later scrapped.

  • Judy Garland looks so pretty with red hair! she was a very beautiful girl! :) and a great actress and singer! BEST EVER!

  • Watch with dark side of the moon album!

  • love this movie

  • this is like one of the best damn movies of all time... Follow the yellowbrick road and you can find the wizard too. Just look for those Leprechauns who took all our gold.

  • Oh come on! That's awesome! Why didn't they put that in...blah!

  • I recall hearing that Busby Berkeley worked on this sequence - it certainly has a lot of his touches. Frankly, I find it very gimmicky and am glad it was cut. In fact, even though seeing all the bits that were edited out is fun (like 'The Jitterbug"), the producers made the right decisions. "Oz" is one of the few movies that is over before you realize it, and leaves you wanting more. There isn't a wasted second of screen time or dialog.

  • awwww "then prehaps ill deserve ya and even be worthy of ya only if i had a brain"... thats cute

  • The reason this dance scene was cut is mainly because the scene between Hunk and Dorothy talking about Hunk going off to college was cut. It wouldn't make much sense if the Scarecrow was wanting to deserve Dorothy by getting a brain, if his human counterpart in Kansas didn't to begin with. It's a shame, but we have to live with it, just as we have to live with losing the Jitterbug. Ah, well, such is life.

  • well the bouncing off the fence in reverse was weak, but the rest was great. shame they cut anything from that film, and they cut a lot other than bolger's dance.

  • Yeah I saw this before on T.V. back in the 70's. i think they cut it for commercial room. Damn them!!!!!!!!!!

  • I recall that it was included in one of MGM's "That's Entertainment" retrospective documentaries. Too bad the jitterbug scene was lost in a vault fire. Only home movies and the soundtrack survive of the jitterbug scene. I recall that the poppies' aroma caused the four to get high rather than sleepy leading to the jitterbug sequence.

  • what if at 1:32 , instead of going forward, he continued to fall backward and ripped thru that shitty fake background...... -_-

  • ugh! this scene is so annoying. it just drags on and on. I especially don't like it when he flies, it's too much. I'm glad they deleted it. the only part I like is when he does the splits, they should have kept that bit..

I'm also glad they deleted the jitterbug, it added nothing to the story.

they also should have deleted the lion's second solo.

  • ... And I think they should have given Dorothy a second solo, maybe near the end, before the balloon flies off accidentally, when Dorothy is at her happiest before the deception, so she would have a happy song to counterbalance Over the Rainbow, or even they could have made a song out of "There's no place like home".

And come to think of it, the Wizard could have had a musical number, when he revealed his true self.

  • ... No, I don't know the broadway version of the Wizard of Oz with all its extra numbers. And I'm not thinking of the original book either.

  • @wattever333 - They actually did give Dorothy a reprise of "Over the Rainbow" while she was locked in the Witch's castle, but it was deleted...however, an audio recording survives, and it really shows Judy Garland's power as a dramatic actress!

  • @wattever333 - They also considered a musical number (the "Wizard's Song") for the scene where the Wizard gave Dorothy's companions what they wanted, but lyricist EY Harburg thought the scene worked better in dialogue, so it was written as such.

  • Ray Bolger in great new book (Did these Stories Really Happen) at amazon!

  • The splitting of the legs.lowering himself to the floor (starting at 2:32) and coming up again with just the legs to lift him (no hands!) was a trademark Bolger routine. He'd used it in "The Great Ziegfeld" three years earlier. It's great here because it's the sort of thing you'd think would come natural to a straw-legged scarecrow. Quite a shame this sequence was cut.

  • my school is actually doing the wizard of oz play.Put the main parts are for the the seniors

  • Lol. I see why this was cut out.

  • Why wasn't this ever on the movie?

  • Must have taken forever to get that crow to fly over and pick that shit up

  • Comment removed

  • probably has to put deleated because most of the videos marked deleted have the audio taken away for copy right reasons

  • Comment removed

  • @ragemanchoo82 Because the guy who posted this video does not own the rights to the audio (aka, sound) in this scene, if he uploaded it as "deleted scenes" rather than "deleated", youtube would force him to remove the audio. if you look at other videos of "deleted scene wizard of oz scare crow dance", most of them are silent videos (no audio). get it?

  • @Jimi44444 Oooooh okay ^_^ So its a code to get around the thought police..

  • Man this guys talented!

  • So nice!!!

  • Interesting and fun to watch but quite awkward. Obvious why it was cut.

  • I wish we could see the famous missing "jitterbug" sequence from the haunted woods portion of the movie...

  • @maxbest2 why do you consider it being awkward?!

  • @maxbest2 why do you consider it being awkward?! Also it's not why it was cut, it's because the movie was way too long so they had to cut some 'extra' stuff out they didn't consider necessary for the story.

  • around 2:58 he doesn't have a face. must have been the stunt double.

  • i see what you mean

  • scarecrow does some wire-fu!

  • How do you spell "deleated"?

  • deleted

  • @Yip221 - I personally use tubemusicdownloader com and have never payed for my music.

  • I love this longer version because it shows Ray Bolger's amazing wiggly dance style. I feel he was so underrated as a dancer. He was just as good as Astair & Gene.

  • i got see this scene in the dvd my country the scene not deleted

  • they probable deleted it because they realized how rediculous the animation looked

    I love this movie though

  • There is a 50 year documentary on youtube (6 parts) that shows parts of this deleted scene and they said they cut this because the movie was getting too long. However, I agree with you, this scene is stupid and it's a good thing that it was cut.

  • But why?? "How long is 'too long?'"

  • 1:28 Scarecrow! Look out for that backdrop! lol

I love this movie so much :)

  • why did they delete this! I loved it.

  • @muppetspuppets Because the executives felt this made the movie longer than it already was (about 2 1/2 hours long).

  • @ApacheMan2K The longest version of the movie was just two hours long. It was cut by about 20 minutes.

  • this totally contradicts wicked's dancing through life with fiyero (:

  • ray bolger in the wizard of oz and michael jackson in "the wiz" are the reason why i love the scarecrow
