you don't grin when you sing "sun's gonna shine" cos this will never happen and the singer knows it. if you still grin or even giggle it looks stupid. This is blues, man.
Very nice work! and a lighter, more upbeat treatment than others. (Bertha "Chippie" Hill's superb version used to be on YT but it looks like it must have been pulled because of copyright or something). Good luck with your music.
Chippie was the original singer of the first recording in 1926. The song was written by the piano player, Richard M. Jones, and the trumpet player was Louis Armstrong!! I first heard it from Marianne Faithful- who does a very sad, slow and heartfelt version. I like your "sunshine-emphasized Joplinesque" version also! ;)
wow amy... if that's your name... you have a beautiful voice! and you seem to be a pretty amazing guitarist haha i wish i could play like that. i have a guitar and i write my own songs but mines electric and broken lol. your much better haha. ttyl
Thankyou very much! Yes, Amy's my name. You should put some videos up too - I'd like to see them. Maybe invest in an acoustic - grab a cheap one from ebay or a second hand store. It's less likely for an acoustic to break :)
Thanks! Yes the camera is awful I know but I've no idea how to get the videos from my camcorder to the computer. I have to do a tonne of converting which would bore me to death. Also, it's probably better that it's harder to see my face - I wouldn't want to scare anyone!
Nice artistic scattering of objects...and an even nicer voice...keep the playing and singing up and bother your folks to death until they buy you a better camera! :-)
Thankyou so much for your comment J Sarmbru. That really means a lot, you have no idea! When I first put my videos up I thought I'd get lots of comments telling me how awful I was. I really never expected such lovely messages. Thankyou so much! :)
Hey! How did I miss this? I have been dying to hear some more from you, as have the others here. I am stealing the "artistic scattering of objects" line, too. You are one cool chick Amy.
Aw thankyou Danny! Yes, well I always go by the excuse that if you step over things on the floor every day you will always remember where they are. Anytime I tidy up, I spend hours looking in draws and cupboards for things I've put away.
You're talented :)

Oh thankyou! With these old songs it's sometimes hard to discover who did them first. Louis Armstrong - really? I'll have to have a listen!
Thanks for the compliment - I think it probably would sound better slower but I get so petrified when I start playing that it just gains superspeed!

Well, I'm glad someone appreciates my artistic scattering! I actually do have a camcorder but as I'm a woman I have no idea how to work it :)

Wow! What a voice. Do you know how good it is? Kinda reminds me of a young Maria Muldaur.
