  • The best way to do this , go to the bank and finance the car.

banks allways have the latest info. Even that could be a hard ,

cloning a paid off car could result in many cars sharing same VIN numbers.

  • In Canada, it's your responsibility to make sure when you purchase a vehicle that it isn't stolen. If you buy a stolen car and it's stolen, tuff luck. But then again, who the fuck is going to get it checked?

  • Hmm, in the uk cars are marked "stolen" or "Write Off" by the number plate. But then again its just as easy to clone a number plat as it is a VIN.

  • @max1298 what is clone mean?

  • @nnnicht

    A duplicate of the1st car.

  • I always run a car fax report and try to find all the vins. I also apply for a build sheet from the manufacturer. They normally have it back within a day. You would be surprised what is all listed on a build sheet. You can spot easily whats says it has and what it doesnt.

  • that's FUCKED UP,$30k and he doesnt get anything? gtfo they better be breaking me off a nice check or something, say 'is there a reward for finding this stolen car?' ahah

  • there money went out the window!!!!

  • so they take the cars back and sell it back to public nice

  • i have a car scam... i use black guys to rob cars for me,...

  • The thing is the only people getting screwed are the people who bought it. They no longer have the car and there is no way for them to get any money back. But the people the car was stolen from have been paid and bought a new car 4 years ago. Its not like the cops are taking that car back to them. Its been stolen, its salvaged title and considered worthless by insurance. Its just going to end up in evidence lock up. Maybe they can go re-buy the car at the police auction in a month. Cops = Crooks

  • if it's too good to be true, look harder

  • 4 Fucking Years, Really!?

  • I never understood why the VIN numbers on vehicles are out in the open like that...

  • @drewbadboi for cops

  • there really are more places the vin is that just the door sticker and the corner of the windsheild. if i remember correctly its in like 5 or more places depending on vehicle make. so i'm pretty sure that a dealer could tell you for sure if the vin doesn't match if they checked the car. as for the door sticker we run it that alot where it doesn't match but most of the time it is due to the door haveing been replaced with a used one after an accident.

  • Let me help you understand something People..... These opperations are a collective effort of illegal aliens that do not want to go back to Mexico. This is the only way they can survive here. Notice how they are often driving newer vehicles? No, they did not pay for them, they stole them! We really need to get them the fuck out of here NOW!

  • @rasmann36 Congratulations, you won the stupidest comment of the month for December, 2011.

  • This is why I drive a POS looking car. ;) I'll never have to worry about that getting stolen.

  • This is just retarded. Why can't they just CARVE the fucking VIN onto a plate and HIDE a copy of it in a spot the thief can't access but the DEALER would have access to? It would make life miserable for the scam artists. Sounds like the cops and "insurance" companies don't really give a shit.

  • @starlionblue

To starlionblue: They do carve the "fucking" VIN in hidden places...It's called the confidential VIN.. but that still is not going to stop thieves from stealing them, just because you carve it somewhere hidden

  • So, the person that had the car stolen got reimbursed from insurance (if they had it) and the person that purchased legit, gets nothing? Not right, but how do you fix it? Is there a way to look up current owner of VIN prior to purchase to make sure it matches seller?

  • fuck that shit would suck bad. and bout the milk fella112 . fresh out

  • Anyone have some milk for my cheerios

  • @fella112 Na man i dont sorry bro.

  • Nightmare :D... Total Nightmare... :D

  • And now at least I know how I can make some money to pay for my school, thanks to this news report.

  • Lol, ur selling a stolen car and trying not to go to jail but yet make mistakes like "misspelling" WTF? xD

  • They said there are 2 victims and thats correct but really the only person who gets screwed is the person who bought it. The person who had it stolen probably had it covered by insurance so yea it sucks that it was taken but they werent out the money.

The person who bought it spent money thats now gone. Insurance wont cover them, they have no car and no money...thats BS

  • Notice that the police went for non-white folks! They know that they can't simply take away the cars from white folks, because white folks have lawyers!

  • @unebonnevie even with a lawyer your not keeping the car.anyway most of our whites here were im from are poor most whites in the country r poor actually.i work for the welfare district and whites are the ones that get the most welfare in the country but ofcourse they wanna try and tear down other people to look good but i know the truth .educate yourself

  • this is total b/s, ruining peoples' finances just to recapture stolen cars

  • check the firewall VIN it's stamped on ad the engine vin plate

  • Wait, the people aren't being compensated? Fuck the police then.

  • VIN confirmed on: engine block, windows, door, dashboard, CPU, etc. Sheesh! Look. Research. Be safe

  • bullshit!

  • @RespectTheMango so why should the cops/gov get the revenue for that? Now these folks have no vehicle....

  • so what do the cops do with the vehicles? Sell them?

  • Sure tell the world how to make a stolen car legit congradulations

  • OMG I though I was evil damm

  • Putting VINs in the windscreen was always a retarded idea anyway!!!!

  • @discocreator76 Yeah, well how would you identify a vehicle with a unique id that is unique for every single vehicle in the the world/country? What most people don't know, is the vin number is 3-4 different places on a vehicle. so, there is a way around anything they come up with.

  • @discocreator76 I agree. It's retarded. HIDE the damn VIN under the hood. This is the car's "social security number" so the the fuck is it visible for someone to copy? This kind of scam is getting pretty old, I've been hearing about it for over three YEARS.

  • how do they get the car titled and registered, wouldn't they find out right away that there are two vins, and for the people who have gotten there cars stollen dont they get a new car or their money back four years prior, so now these new people get their cars taken away along with all of their money just so the police can go an auction of their cars

  • @way2fasts Your registration with dmv isn't comunicated with every other state. Thats why for example my states dmv is NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES. So they can just take car information and register it as a NEW vehicle and the DMV would never know. It takes police audits years to catch them all..

  • It sounds like a pritty organized group that is doing this... I doubt the average buyer could spot the diffrence... 1000 cars isnt no beginner theres got to be over 10,000 of these cars in the usa on the roads. I saw a show where they were doing the same thing in japan accept exporting the cars in shipping contanors to other countrys but changing all the vins and titles printing up a new one.

  • so they steal clean vins, but what do they do for the title? the news made no mention of that.

  • @chillincruisin Right. I'm guessing these retards pay $30,000 for a vehicle with no title.

  • @peanutchopper well no shit they come with a fake title, but my question was how could people fall for a fake title if the guys pulling this job can't even spell correctly on some of the stickers on the car

  • @chillincruisin I wasn't criticizing you. I was agreeing with you. When I said "right," I meant you were correct. I just can't believe these dumbasses actually fall for it.

  • @peanutchopper aite

  • So they can find the cars and take them from innocent people but not the crooks that did the crime? I think I may know a way the police time could be better used....

  • Ummm, ok so update the Department of motor vehicles so they do talk to all the other states.

  • This is old news. My wife had this shit happen to here back in 1990. The FBI took her car right at her work. I say we find these fuckers and cut off their fucking hands and put out an eye. Marked for life you motherfuckers!!

  • I think after a year they should be able to keep the vehicle. Obviously after 4 years its not being missed.

And for the people they stole the vehicles from. There insurance should cover the cars loss. Thats how it should work. But we all know how greedy the government and insurance companies are.

  • their dumbasses in the first place buying a durango for 11000 a 00 durango is not worth that

  • The VIN in stamped into the metal on the firewall metal, that's something that would be really hard to fake. Sometimes it's on the engine too

  • Sue the dealer idiot! Where did they get the title?

  • @AudioGuise Proof that a lot of used car salespeople are crooks.

  • umm. am i the only one that knows of car titles? lol, if i have a car, i paid for it, its insured, i drive it, ans i got the fuckin title, ill take up arms to keep what is mine from police or thieves because this is fucking america

  • Funny how he said to check carfax. You can't check the carfax with a "cloned" VIN. Well you can check it but it wouldn't be the carfax for the right car...

  • vin# on my engine, chassis, dash and door..try to clone that!

  • it's a fucking scam that the cops can take it... so what, they can store it and sell it to somebody for a grand fuck that

  • @billyyays

the cops returns the car to the owners i think,

  • @shaochiavang hopefully but I doubt it...

  • @billyyays

they do, unless they pull a "cop move" and sell it off at aunction. lol

  • i live in europe i dont know how it works in us but here an cant register a car with persenting full paper work even if you do it they can see the vin already exiest for an other plate number ... do they have computers in US ahahahhahah

  • Another thing is online car sales. If youre looking for a car online NEVER EVER EVER EVER buy from a country outside of the US if youre living in the US. My mother almost payed like $6,000 to a fake online car dealer that said all you had to do was pay a fraction of the price and then once you get the car you pay for the rest. If you ever think youre being fooled look up the name of the website on yahoo answers cause thats what we did and lucky it saved us from being fooled.

  • why fbi can not find these craigslist jerks? they can be as buyers and call these people and catch them.

  • @vasifka this does happen in italy

  • your vin is stamped on the frame also as well as on the dash and door panel most people never look at the frame stamp (its usually dirty so you have to wipe it off to read it) always make sure that the vins match and match the title and you have a good title if you can check there insurance card and registration to make sure the vins on those match also. and keep your bill of sale and have there name address phone number and license number if it a private sale

  • LOL VIN in EU is "hidden" inside motor compartment.

  • there is more than 1 vin on a car

  • @loadedlover12 there is more than 1 Vehicle Identification Number on a car?? that's like having two different birth certificates for the same person...

  • thanx for the info i think i will try it out i need some fast cash

  • hahah thanks for tellin me how to do this

  • MOTHER FUCKEN NEWS REPORTERS GIVING PEOPLE IDEAS HOW TO STEAL!

I WISH I COULD BURN THEIR STUDIO DOWN!

  • @redlackawanna The methods that they give are not complete and are outdated anyways.

  • @redlackawanna Are you serious? If no-one reveals how you are being ripped off, how would you ever know how to protect yourself?

  • @redlackawanna YOU ARE A REAL DUMMY, PEOPLE CAN'T GET THOSE FAKE VIN NUMBER STICKERS ANYWHERE. ITS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET A COPY. SO YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.

  • This is not a new thing.

Almost every single vehicle made today has the VIN number inscribed ALL OVER the vehicle. (i.e. on the hood, Door, bumper, windows, trunk, seats, radio and LOTS more. And, to be even safer, they generally put these in very inconspicuous places.

A good tip would be to set out to look for at least four places where the VIN is on that vehicle to make sure you are not falling in to something like this.

But I fail to believe is a pandemic. Dumb reporters.

  • another reason to buy new. scion, here i come!

  • @uncoverbrother hahahah you fuckin serious, LMFAO a scion

  • @krypekeeper different strokes... :)

  • wow i would kill the person who sold it to me.

  • @mooserman911

That's a little basic. here is something creative

hack their computer and info every 6 months for the rest of your life life untill they commit suicide over the stress I gave them back. than piss on their grave during the funeral

    .

Now of course do not do any of these things unless you know the same guy who sold it was the one who stole it. even than its the internet. none of us are serious. we won't remember the sellers name 4 years later when the car is taken anyway

  • WoW. Thats complete bullshit!

I would be so pissed if this happened to me. Ima do my homework when im looking for my next car in a few weeks.

WoW. People in this world. I just cant believe it sometimes

  • The scam artists is a warlord.

  • what do the cops do with the cars? Why not pay'em back partial? This is fucked up.

  • @uglyestprince69 The cars are returned to either the original owner or, if the original owner has sucessfully filed an insurance claim, it is given to the insurance company who then sells it at auction to recouperate the loss from the claim. This is another reason why you should always buy a car from a dealership - because you can sue their a$s if it turns out to be stolen.

  • @BigTwitchy This is exactly why I refuse to buy cars from people like Ebay. That's just asking for trouble. I can't believe what kinds of fools buy stuff there and I KNOW some of those cars on Ebay have been stolen.

  • this happened in the sopranos sorta. chris moltasantis maserrati

  • The insurance company now owns the car and will send it to auction to try and recovery as much of their losses as possible.

  • so how do you sell a car without a title? and if the original owner of the car gets a check from the insurance company and they get there car back do they have to payback the insuance company?

  • @jerdans No, the insurance company gets it and they then sell it on or put it through the auction.

  • thats justed messed up

  • Dose the previous owners get their car back after 3-4 years?

  • i feel sorry for the people who but the car and now they are taking them back they should get a car or some money to buy a new one

  • @mrdanjon

so yeah lets have taxpayers pay for that

    really?

  • After 3-4 yrs the Insurance Co have payed off the claim.. They have to settle claims during a required deadline. Normally within 90 days or in some cases they have only 2 yrs
