That's fine, but he was COMPLAINING ABOUT AN 80'S GAME NOT EXPLAINING THE PLOT IN THE ACTUAL GAME. If he really has been playing the NES since the start, he'd know almost no games had their plot explained in the game, just the manual or the back of the box. You make a valid point, but he was actually complaining about something else.

Few games of that era had a plot more sophisticated than "save the girl from these bad guys" or "kill all these guys who want to take over the world." He says it like he's expecting an elaborate FFVII-esque plot in a platformer where you just run around and shot everything in sight.
