I would have chosen the "Catch the Rainbow" version from the Live in Munich '77, much better vocals. And I disagree, Dio owned "Mistreated", and again the '77 version is much better. I would also have chosen "I" from the 2007 Radio City Music Hall performance, magnificent!
Dio had us fooled the whole time. He was not human at all. He was a god who visited us for 67 years. Now he has moved to a higher realm. Dio forever!!!
Interesting that "On Stage" is not featured where he was soaring on the 2 "Live in Germany" songs featured, not to mention Kill The King and Still I'm Sad.
His vocals on Pain are awesome but top 5?
Anyway thanks for posting this and I am sure all of us Dio fans will have different opinions but one thing is most impotant. GET WELL RONNIE!!!
Kill the King was brought up, but was decided that it wasn't quite top 5. Pain was my input, I thought it showed his incredible power, especially when considering that a) he soars even with the bad audio quality and b) he was 51 at this time, so there's a testament to his voice's longevity.
Thanks for the comment, I'm really proud of these lists :)
Any chance you could do one of these, or just the studio ones for Dan Mccaferty of Nazareth?

I like the Original version or Jack Black's version.

It's awesome to see pain in that list. Strange Highways is one of the most underrated Dio Albums and my favourit of course :) Rock on!

I quite agree to you!
He came down to the physical body to give huge love to us.
And he has used up his body fully and left. Now he is always with us.

Perfect selection. Highlights the Dio controlled growl while at the same time demonstrating his incredible vocal range.
