Richard Buckner is golden. Love to see a singer-songwriter who's actually in love with words a la Dylan and Cohen.
The chords for the verse are D and G. When you are playing the D, first hammer on A-to-C#, then the open D, then C# then open D. Then hammer on a-to-b, then a, then f# then a.
The chorus is A, Bm, A, D, G, D, G, D, A, D, G.
Could not have figured out the above without the munificence of our friend Jeremy.
I know you posted this 2 years ago, but I am a huge uckner fan and stumbled across your vid looking for help in learning the song. Are then any notes or tab or help you could point me towards in help with the song. I am not as talented as yourself but would love to get a basic chunk of the song down, cant find much help online. Thats the trouble with liking quality like buckner, few others do apparently
Hey thanks, I dont have tab and am not much of a teacher. But the chords are un-capo'd are G, D, in the verse and the chorus is A, B sharp minor G and D. Play around with those chords and let your voice lead you through it. Much appreciation for the interest.
Dude, that is excellent!! I am a big Richard Buckner fan and have been since Bloomed first came out. I have even had him in my living room picking with me before, back when he was doing his first tour to support Bloomed. I LOVE his emotive style and buddy, you nail it. Cheers!!!
Thanks so much, sorry it has taken so long, Wow I would have been blown away to by playing a song with RB. I have been lucky enough to catch him live in Portland twice but thats it. Keep in touch.
It was definitely very cool. He was on a tour promoting Bloomed and I had run into him in Chicago, he was blown away that I recognized him. He was scheduled to come to my town a week later, I invited him to dinner. He called when he got to town and we went to my house for a bit and picked a few songs then went to dinner. Just trying to help out a starving musician. :-) I have several pictures from the occasion and he sent me a post card from the road about a week or so later.
Claro! now I understand. when I played SKY I tunned 6 and 1 string as a D and the capo covering all the stings, that´s the reason why I press 6 string on 3rd fret ( counting from the capo ) while you press it on 2nd.cool!
Thank you so much amy or Caden--coming from you this means a lot! I love your influences Nick Drake and Jeff Buckley are two of my favorites. They both struggled with being overlooked due too mainstream music--we all have to go are own way regardless of the trends!
You do a perfectly fine job with it. Good vocals/guitar. You have great taste in music. But I think what you don't capture is the vocal phrasing and dark intensity that RB brings to the song (especially live). It's not a "slow coming to realization of feelings for another", it's the realization that the relationship is dead. It's longing and distance and heartbreak. It's devastating. "What's that word I forget sometimes...it's the one that means the love has left your eyes." Wow. Holy hell.
I'm sure Richard would appreciate your ability too see his meaning and vision for this song. And you're right about the realization piece ending. Unfortunately my work has made it impossible to see the show--seen him twice one good one bad--dante's Bad!
Wow man. Heard your music on MullyRadio. Blown away. Excellent.

Once you try an open tuning in D or whatever, you´ll see there´s a very interesting world to investigate and songs sound absolutely different.Try it!
RCROSSH 3 years ago
I mean without the capo.
RCROSSH 3 years ago
The Capo is not covering the low e-string. I dont do any alternate tunings usually. It's the same thing for sky.

Sorry, I mean I press on 4th fret and you on 3rd fret when singing....."coffe pouring "
RCROSSH 3 years ago
Sounded great either way! I'm going to have to try some alternate tunings. Maybe i will open some new doors song wise.
jeremyserwer 3 years ago
Is the guitar tunned on E or is the 6 and 1 string in D ?
